El Olam--The Everlasting God.

Job 38:4-7; Amos 7:7-8; Matthew 6:9; John 17:3; Psalms 73:12; John 7:17; Psalms 119:18; Ephesians 1:16-19; Colossians 1:9-10
We are walking in today:  El Olam--The Everlasting God.

HERE IN JOB 38:4-7 GOD WANTS TO GET OUR ATTENTION, WE ARE SOOOOO BLESSED.

EL O LAM

The God of Perpetuity- no end, indefinitely

Job 38:4-7 (NIV)
4 “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. 5 Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? 6 On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone—7 while the morning stars sang together and all the angel shouted for joy?

El O lam as...

The Everlasting God, Who was, before all worlds, and will be, when time and days shall be no more.

Job 38:4-7 (NIV) (emphasis added) 4 “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? (I WAS NOT FORMED FROM MY MOTHER WOMB YET, LORD) Tell me, if you understand. 5 Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? (Yes I know LORD (MY BOSS) YOU DID) YOU STRETCHED a plumbline across it? 6 On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone—7 while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?

(I UNDERSTAND NOW, LORD FROM YOUR REVELATION OF AMOS 7:7-8)
WHEN GOD WANTS TO STRESS A POINT OR GET OUR ATTENTION FAMILY WE KNOW THAT HE SAYS THINGS MORE THAN ONCE.

AMOS 7:7-8 7 This is what he showed me: The Lord was standing by a wall that had been built true to plumb with a plumb line in his hand. 8 And the Lord asked me, “What do you see, Amos?” “A plumb line,” I replied. Then the Lord said, “Look, I am setting a plumb line among my people Israel; I will spare them no longer.

**Again verse 7 says: The Lord was standing by a wall that had been built true to plumb with a plumb line in his hand.

TRUE- fully realized or fulfilled

TRUE - Reliable; accurate

TRUE -Accurately shaped or fitted:

TRUE - Accurately placed, delivered, or thrown (as Min. Sharon said, that a plumb line is dropped

TRUE -To position (something) so as to make it balanced, level, or squared,

 TRUE- Proper aligned or adjusted

TRUE TO PLUMB:  THE LORD WAS STANDING BY A WALL THAT HAD BEEN BUILT TRUE TO EXAMINING CLOSELY OR DEEPLY; TO PROBE

THE LORD WAS STANDING BY A WALL, FAMILY  THAT HAD BEEN BUILT RELIABLE , A WALL Accurately shaped or fitted: A WALL Accurately placed, delivered, or thrown, A WALL positioned so as to make it balanced, level, or squared

He is going to balance us, he has positioned us, he has accurately shaped and fitted us, he has placed, delivered and thrown us .  Family I am fully realized and fulfilled

DEFINITION OF PLUMB: A LEAD WEIGHT ATTACHED TO A LINE AND USED TO INDICATE A VERTICAL DIRECTION

When carpenters build a house, FAMILY their goal is to create a foundation and a floor that are perfectly horizontal, and walls that are perfectly vertical or plumb,

Physics
The plumb line follows the line of gravity. I am talking about a lead weight (a plumb) attached to a line, AND USED TO INDICATE A VERTICAL DIRECTION

Straight walls are strongest when they conform perfectly to this line. When these structures are built correctly, the force of gravity is evenly displaced down the slanted members of the structures and into the foundation. This creates a compressive force that actually makes the structure stronger rather than weaker

Jesus helps us put the importance of the knowledge of the Names of God in proper perspective, teaching us how we should begin our prayers in Mt 6:9 KJV Our Father Who art in Heaven Hallowed be Thy Name....

God's Name is to be hallowed, to be sanctified, to be consecrated, to be made (considered) holy, to be set apart (not just in our head but in our heart, in our lives of loving, Spirit filled obedience)!

And so by focusing on God's Great and Glorious Names is ever how we are to begin our prayers, our petitions, our supplications, our requests, our DECLARATIONS for assistance! And so we must know what God teaches about His Great Name. For this reason we must study in depth the Names of God, not just knowing the Names "superficially" (e.g. knowing a specific title such as Jehovah Jireh, as excellent as that title is) but knowing His Names intimately, WE NEED TO "Biblically" know how and why God chose to reveal them and what impact His self revelation had on the saints to whom they were revealed and continues to have on our lives today.

God's Name, El Olam is His self-revelation. Neither Abraham, nor we would not have come to know on our own that God is everlasting had He not taught this truth in this great Name! El Olam sums up this attribute of His being. God is the...

Everlasting God

Eternal God

God of All Time

God of Ages

The Unchangeable God

The God of Perpetuity- no end indefinitely

To know God's Name is to know Him in a "supernaturally intimate" way! (John 17:3)   there is only One True God Who is able to help!

There are many Names for God because God is so great He cannot adequately be described by one Name El O Lam also refer to this present world, as when the psalmist says, “These are the ungodly, who prosper in the world” (olam, Ps.73:12), meaning they prospered in this present age or in this lifetime. In these references, olam simply expresses the purpose of God in time and does not mean without limits. It shows that God has a purpose in time that is not yet known-it is a mystery. El Olam is “God who has His own purpose in time,” or, the “God of this time.” It implies that God is working His will behind the scenes, and that His purpose will eventually be completed.

We have seen that the name Jehovah is taken from the verb Hayah, which means “I am that I am.” Jehovah is the God of the present tense. El Olam is the everlasting God, the God of the future, who “will be what I will be.”
(APPLICATION) God's revelations are not mere luxuries for personal enjoyment, but are given for the purpose of preparing the soul for fuller service and still clearer testimony for God.

EL O LAM-THE SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLE OF...
DOING GOD'S WILL
KNOWING GOD'S WAYS

Comment: We know that there is no "new revelation" for the Bible represents God's full revelation to man. And yet we also know that as we walk with God through life, we can expect (and should desire) to have a greater spiritual understanding of His character and His ways. But how does this occur? Is it automatic? What part do we play? In John 7 Jesus declared....

“If (the condition) any man is willing to do His will, (the promise) he shall know of the teaching, whether it is of God, or whether I speak from Myself." (John 7:17)

Notice the conditional statement-this deals with our responsibility "to do His will" or in other words to obey the truth we already know. To say it another way "When God puts a period, don't change it to a question mark!" Remember that the word obey means "hearing under" with the implication that sincere doing will follow submissive hearing.

Jesus follows the conditional statement with a promise that we "shall know of the teaching." In other words, the Spirit of Truth  will illuminate the Word of Truth, opening our minds to see the wonderful Truth in His Word (Ps 119:18, Eph 1:16-19, Col 1:9-10)

For the humbling of Job, God here shows him his ignorance even concerning the earth and the sea. Though so near, though so bulky, yet he could give no account of their origination, much less of heaven above or hell beneath, which are at such a distance, or of the several parts of matter which are so minute, and then, least of all, of the divine counsels.

El Olam sums up this attribute of His being. God is the...

Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

30.  You shall not practice necromancy by inquiring of Ov --Deuteronomy 18:11

Matthew 23 is a great chapter where Yeshua is telling the people how things should really be.  True the Pharisees were to instruct the people, they were to do what they were told and not what they see the Pharisees were doing.  Matthew 23:13-15 AMP 13 But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, pretenders (hypocrites)! For you shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces; for you neither enter yourselves, nor do you allow those who are about to go in to do so.  14 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, pretenders (hypocrites)! For you swallow up widows’ houses and for a pretense to cover it up make long prayers; therefore you will receive the greater condemnation and the heavier sentence. 15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, pretenders (hypocrites)! For you travel over sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when he becomes one [a proselyte], you make him doubly as much a child of hell (Gehenna) as you are.
How often has the monkey see, monkey do policy gotten many of us in trouble?  There is a better way!  This Way is the Truth and the Life!  Thank You Yeshua for being the word that came and was wrapped in flesh to lead us and point us--to the correct way back the our Father, Abba!  It is very important and becoming increasingly important to do and follow what the Word of God is directing you to do!  We can no longer  solely look to others alone to be our guide--what does His holy scriptures say?  Study and go deeper to find out what it means, you want to be found doing the right things with the right intentions in your heart.  So many of us have done and may be doing the wrong things with an intention of good in our hearts.  Being out of order is still a problem, but is it intentional disobedience? That would be one point that we, should be careful and cautious to avoid as much as possible.  Just as a parent with a child that has actions of willful disobedience, has a totally different response than a child that is disobedient without willful intent.  Fiveamprayer, will you seek and look to do all that the Lord God Almighty has given you to do?  When you fail, will you look to see how to be successful the next time?  I am looking to see my Heavenly Father smiling at me in my heartfelt effort to please Him.  To do what His word instructs me to do--in how I live my life and how I treat others.  We are all His handiwork, His possessions and surely if we are to be protected by Him, aren't others protected by Him also?  Really when we look at this we are only borrowing from Him, everything that we have:  our bodies, children, spouses, family and all our other possessions--all on loan.  Just as our worry and fretting does not protect or keep those we worry over, we can not and did not create anything outside of God!  He, the Holy One gave us the ability and the idea to create and do all that we have done or will ever do!  Let us not think that we have done this all on our own.  Be honest, the things that you have done by yourself, amounts to very little and even that little bit was still by His permission but when we take credit then we will be responsible for the up keep!  Then we have the substandard results that we are all too familiar with.  Adonai permits it that we would come to know and see the greatness of who He is--that we come to see His mercy and His grace. Why would you delay or try to belittle the awesomeness of the Almighty?  As if you ever could!  As we have seen over and over again in the Bible and our own lives when we venture off on on own without His instruction and direction--the result disaster!  So the obvious answer is, to walk in His teaching and instruction!  Fiveamprayer all that we get to experience is at the pleasure of the King, so if the King is displeased with us and we choose to walk in disobedience what can we honestly expect to receive?  As we see in the chapter 23 of Matthew where Yeshua is teaching that the Pharisees teach the laws but don't follow nor obey the intention behind them.  That they have even gone so far as to keep others from going further to walk according to what Adonai has directed and lead them to do.  Now we are not to make choices for others, Elohim gave us free will, now Him out of everyone would have the best case to decide for us!  He is the Creator and we the creation, there is not anything we can do without His say so first!  So why would any man on the earth be able to choose for you?!  That is why we must read the Bible for ourselves, we must pray to God for ourselves--this is not only a community relationship, this is personal!  If you are too busy to make time for Him, He will not continue to pursue you if you are not making any kind of effort!  Just the slight withdrawing of His presence will cause all around you to be altered but if you are too busy to notice, it may need to go from slight to substantial to drive home the point.  All to win you back to Him, that you be not lost in and separated from Adonai! So to reiterate the point we have Matthew 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.  So how will you be known?  As the one helping to teach the good, right and holy way of the Lord God most high?  Or in the all grace camp?  We have to know and understand that it is not all the law nor is it all grace.  You need grace to walk in the law, to seek to keep the law.  Remember these laws came from a good and perfect, holy and righteous God.  We are made of flesh and are surrounded by fleshly influences.  We need help, that is where grace comes in, to walk in the law.  The law alone could not save, nor can grace alone give us the redeemed lifestyle that the law affords.  Yeshua paid the price--that we would have life and that more abundantly (John 10:1).  Let us walk in the abundant life full of His teaching, instruction and grace.  Sounds like knowledge, understanding and wisdom to me.  To hear this again click here.

We seal this prayer in the precious blood of Jesus of Nazareth, the only Begotten of the Heavenly Father and by the Holy Spirit:  Fiveamprayer, this is personal--what kind of relationship do you have with your personal Savior?!  Study to show thyself approved!

Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
Rabbi Ralph Messer, Torah: Law Or Grace? Kingdom Principles For Kingdom Living.  This book can be ordered online here or in the store if you are in the Denver area here.

The First Commandment-Exodus 20:2-3 2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.  I am the LORD your God, Who has taken you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery.
11.  Hear O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is One --Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:

13.  You shall teach the Torah thoroughly to your children and you shall speak of the commands while you sit in your home, while you walk on the way  Deuteronomy 6:7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
14.  You shall recite the Shema every morning and evening --Deuteronomy 6:7  And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
15.  You shall bind the Torah on your head (Tefillin) --Deuteronomy 6:8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
16.  You shall bind the Torah on your hand (Tefillin)--Deuteronomy 6:8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. 17.  You shall write the Torah on your doorposts and your gates (Mezuzah) Deuteronomy 6:9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
18.  You shall fear the Lord your God --Deuteronomy 6:13 Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
19.  You shall not test the Lord you God --Deuteronomy 6:16  Ye shall not tempt the Lord your God, as ye tempted him in Massah. 20.  You shall not fear the enemies in the Land  --Deuteronomy 7:21 Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the Lord thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
This same scripture reads like this in the Complete Jewish Bible:
Ephesians 6:12  For we are not struggling against human beings, but against the rulers, authorities and cosmic powers governing this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm.

The kingdom of God shows up in the Bible 68 times, many times spoken by Yeshua Himself.  The phrase kingdom of heaven shows up 31 times and also stated by Jesus Christ of Nazareth.  What is all of this kingdom talk all about?  Why is that important for those of us who are on an unrelenting search for the truth?  I am talking about that deep down burn to search and seek out the Almighty God.  To know more of Him and to better understand how to walk in this life?  Let us keep these questions in the foreground as we go through these scriptures and see what it is that we find.
We see here in Matthew chapter 6 where Yeshua finishes giving us a model prayer at the disciples request, He discusses our human needs.  Matthew 6:16-34 16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; 18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly. 19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. So this gives us an answer to what we should be seeking, and not seeking as the case maybe.  We see that those walking outside of God's teaching and instruction have the same natural needs that we as citizens of the kingdom of heaven have as well.  The difference is how we go about it.  Which brings us to Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  Fiveamprayer we are to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.  We learned last Thursday about Yahweh Tsidkenu, the Lord is our righteousness.  He is so gracious to give us His righteousness, since we have none purely on our own.  What a mighty and awesome God that we serve! Matthew 5:3-20 3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. 10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. 13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. 17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.  So why are the poor in spirit blessed?  Because theirs is the kingdom of heaven!  In  Matthew 5:19, we have the ones who break the commandments and teach others to do the same are the least in the kingdom of God and those who walk in and teach others to do the same will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.  John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Then we have in Genesis--beginning was the Word and it was with God, that there was nothing made without the Word. That this same Word came and dwelt among us in the flesh.  John 1:1-3, 14 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.  We see this not only in Genesis 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Then again we have in, Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.   The Word is apart of the "let us make man in our own image," statement from Genesis 1:26.  Fiveamprayer, I have a question for you--How did we ever get the idea that there were parts of the Bible that we are no longer to follow?  The Word that was there even before the beginning began, that created all things, that was wrapped in flesh to walk among us--was put away or no longer valid?  Well there is one place that we find the words void and word, in the same scripture--Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.  Well from this one and only scripture in the King James Bible that has those two words in the same scripture speaks to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob's word being immutable, that is does NOT return void but does what He pleases it to do!  Philippians 2:7-9 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name.   Fiveamprayer we have Jesus Christ the only begotten of the Lord God Almighty, the Word made flesh--being obedient unto death.  So how is it that we can do all that is in our wicked hearts and desires of our eyes and still run around claiming grace, grace?!  So Yeshua was obedient to the Word unto death and we won't be obedient to the law of God unto to life?!  Galatians 2:16-18 (CJB) 16 even so, we have come to realize that a person is not declared righteous by God on the ground of his legalistic observance of Torah commands, but through the Messiah Yeshua’s trusting faithfulness. Therefore, we too have put our trust in Messiah Yeshua and become faithful to him, in order that we might be declared righteous on the ground of the Messiah’s trusting faithfulness and not on the ground of our legalistic observance of Torah commands. For on the ground of legalistic observance of Torah commands, no one will be declared righteous. 17 But if, in seeking to be declared righteous by God through our union with the Messiah, we ourselves are indeed found to be sinners, then is the Messiah an aider and abettor of sin? Heaven forbid! 18 Indeed, if I build up again the legalistic bondage which I destroyed, I really do make myself a transgressor.   Sounds like all that He speaks, His very word is not shaky nor unsure.  That sounds resolute and definite to me!  Can you say chiseled into stone?  Sounds like the ten commandments, to me!  The commandments did not contain an expiration date, if that was the case--with Jesus the Son of the Living God, the Word made flesh wouldn't He have told us in all of His teachings?  Wouldn't this have been revealed to the prophets, who were told many things for a later time?!
Ok so now let's look at the law.  Which in so many modern societies we have allowed even willingly followed many laws.  For example on the roadways:  if we did not follow the traffic signals how many accidents and deaths would be the result?  How many more would have to go to jail for breaking those laws?  How about some one just busting down your door, would that be alright for them to come in a take what ever they want?  No you say, well if we are no longer under the law?!  It is that same law that you disagree with, that gives us freedom from the things that lawlessness brings in our natural world how much more for us in the spirit realm?  We know that satan and his influences were kicked out of heaven for trying to overtake and rule.  So when they fell to Earth they thought that they would rule this realm, but we have to come to know and realize that we were made in this realm and have authority--Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.   Fiveamprayer we are made in His image and likeness and given dominion!  So when satan tempted Yeshua what was His reply?  It is written!  The Word made flesh is quoting the written word, the word of authority that has power over principalities!  Matthew 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.  So you still think that the law is over?  Matthew 23:13  But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
We have been given the keys to the kingdom of heaven--the 613 laws found in the Torah--Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.  Laws to protect, lead and guide us.  These law keep us healthy and prosperous.  With so much lacking in many areas why would you not at the very least, investigate these laws for yourself?  They are all found in the same Bible that you read.  They are from the same God that you claim to serve.  How different could they really be?!  If Yeshua walked in them and we are called Christians shouldn't our lives resemble how He walked on the earth?!
We even find in Matthew 5 that Yeshua Ha Mashiach says that He did not come to destroy the law but to fulfill.  He also teaches that until heaven and the earth pass, not even the smallest character of the law will pass until it is all fulfilled.  Which we see that Yeshua taught His disciples to pray--Matthew 6:10 (KJV) Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Hebrews 8:5 But what they are serving is only a copy and shadow of the heavenly original; for when Moshe was about to erect the Tent, God warned him, “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern you were shown on the mountain.”   We are to do and operate as they do in heaven.  Adonai sent a colony of heaven to the earth, Yeshua came as King to teach us about the laws of His kingdom.  When you are apart of a kingdom, the care and well being of the citizens of that kingdom is credited to the reputation of the kingPsalm 23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sakeOnly those that are given and operate in their rights by the law of God have power and authority in the earth!  His will be done in earth as it it is in heaven!  We are made from the dust of the earth and we want His will done in us as it is done in heavenBy now we can clearly see that we can not govern our own lives outside of Him!  Yield unto your Maker, He truly knows what is best for you.  What rest and peace is found in your willingness to walk in the 613 laws of Yahweh!  That is where the grace is applied to assist us in walking this out.  The law that was finished on the cross was the law of sin and death--this is why the punishment does not kick in when we fail in keeping the laws of God.  But as we have been directed on this line before--what is the condition of your heart?  Are you seeking to walk in the law to show your holiness?  Or are you walking to point out the failings of others or walking in a true and pure love of the Almighty? Or are you looking to serve and walking according to what He has commanded us?  That we would experience Him on a whole new level--such peace and rest!  And there are so many out there that are worn-out, burned out and all churched out--surely you need some rest!  To truly trust Him, be obedient unto Him even when you don't understand.  Much like a parent and child relationship, the parent knows what is best for the child and should be followed without question!  Abba, our Heavenly Father is perfect and full of love--why not be obedient unto life, for His Son was obedient unto death for us!  With your life in shambles won't you stop putting tape on it to make it look presentable and show Him your brokenness, that He is already sadly aware of.  It is only you who has not come to the realization that He is that cure, the answer, the Way, the Life! Won't you seek Him?  Won't you be obedient unto to Him, unto life?!   Take a selah moment and really look at this with spiritual eyes and what do you see with spiritual discernment?  This can not be seen in the natural, that is what has gotten you in the woeful place!  Seek Him and walk as He directs whether you fully understand or not.  As His child shouldn't you just listen to Abba knowing He is your keeper and shield?!  To hear this again click here.

We seal this prayer in the precious blood of Jesus of Nazareth, the only Begotten of the Heavenly Father and by the Holy Spirit:  Matthew 13:44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.  We must walk in the principles that Adonai has given us to walk in this redeemed life!

The Keys Of The Kingdom

Genesis 39:1-4, John 4:22-23; Acts 17:22-31; Matthew 15:7-9; Colossians 2:23; John 4:23-24

We are walking in today:
The Keys Of The Kingdom

Thank You Adonai for sending Your servant Pastor Redding to teach on the kingdom this morning!  May he continue to yield and be lead by Your Holy Spirit!  We pray that You would pour back into him for his time and preparation for this study.  All praises to the Lord God most high!  Amen.

Genesis 39:1-4 1 And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither. 2 And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. 3 And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand. 4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.
John 4:22-23 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

In order for us to have the functionality and the ability to maneuver in the Kingdom of God, we have to understand thoroughly the keys that we have in our possession that we can utilize.  Which separates us from those who are in the world and those who are not living according to the will of God. God has given us the keys to heaven that unlock the door to the full Glory of God. One of the keys that He has given us is the ability to worship. Sometimes we get so caught up in praise that we don’t realize that the true nature of God is in worship. We worship God through our ability to serve with gladness and by giving our lives in service. God moves when we begin to worship Him. We have to have the ability to go beyond the praise and get into the position of worship in the way that we serve, in the way that we live, in the way that we conduct business with others, and in the way that we carry ourselves on the job. When we do this, God allows the power and anointing to flow even more in our lives! We have to be willing to lay out prostrate before Him, giving Him, His rightful honor. We have to have a high respect, reverence and bow down and kiss the ground before Him. He is the King of Kings! Additionally, we have to worship together in a corporate setting. It is our responsibility as believers to come together in worship of Him so that we can have the full corporate anointing. This allows us to see healing and deliverance take place. Worship is the key that allows us connect our spirit with His Spirit. When we be begin to worship the key is placed in the door to heaven and allows us to enter into His true presence, true anointing, true glory, and true power. Not everyone has a key to open the door, but if we confess with our mouths and believe in our hearts that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead, that He is the true Son of God, and God is the One who sits high and looks low, we will have the key. There are different kinds of worship that we see today. We have the “Ignorant Worship” as in Acts 17:22-31 22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.  23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, To The Unknown God. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you. 24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;  25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;  26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;  27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. 29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. 30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: 31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.  This gives an example of where religious service is done without having knowledge of what God wants or who He is. It’s like throwing darts at a bulls’ eye while blindfolded. You may hit the mark but in the process you do a lot of damage. We also have the “Vain Worship” as found here in Matthew 15:7-9 7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, 8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. This is when hypocrites worship and don’t see God as God and all of the authority is put in man. There is no power in worshiping man. All power comes from the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. We can’t have an attitude that changes what God said. His word will stand through all situations and is strong enough to penetrate the walls of the enemy. There is also “Will Worship” in Colossians 2:23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body: not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh. This worship centers on satisfying self. It is audience centered worship where everything is about “me”. We’re living in a society where it’s all about “me”. If you don’t satisfy “me”, I’m taking everything that I have and I’m going home. If you don’t give “me” what I want then I’m not doing anything. In other words, if God doesn’t bless me and give me my desires, why should I worship Him?  John 4:23-24 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. This text teaches us that true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The correct elements of worship are God centered and not on entertaining ourselves. The blessings that we receive are a byproduct of our worship and not the focus in worship. We come to give and not to receive. Our issue is that we haven’t correctly diagnosed our problem. The problem is not with the content of our worship but with our hearts. We as believers have to correct the wrong that we see in our society. Everywhere we are, God is. All He’s asking us to do is put the key in the door so that He can release the glory. A child of God doesn’t need special stimulants to bring about proper worship. He centers his life on pleasing God therefore he is always happy to come before the Throne of Grace and praise the King! God wants us to be able to use the key to unlock that door. So we as saints must take the key that He has given us in worship and begin to utilize it. Let’s show the world that we have the key to a greater city that wasn’t made by man that allows us to be able to enjoy the total inheritance of God. Let’s touch God with our worship and our praise and allow the glory of God to fall on us. Amen!  To hear this again click here.

We seal this prayer in the precious blood of Jesus of Nazareth, the only Begotten of the Heavenly Father and by the Holy Spirit:  Let us seek our Heavenly Father in true worship, only seeking to please Him and Him alone!  Thank You Elohim for teaching us about the keys to Your kingdom--the kingdom of heaven!  Amen!

Testimony Tuesday--Ask Him And Tell of His Goodness!

John 14:6, Matthew 6:8-13, Psalm 39:2, Deuteronomy 32:6, Hebrews 12:9, Leviticus 10:3, Revelation 4:11, Psalm 103:20, Job 23:12, Proverbs 38:9, Matthew 26:41, Revelation 3:10-12

We are walking in today:
Testimony Tuesday--Ask Him And Tell of His Goodness!

Thank you for joining us today on Testimony Tuesday where we are glorifying in our God, the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob!  Our God is so awesome and wonderful, He is the Almighty One, the Lord God in heaven!   He wants us to be able to give Him the glory and honor. He is a jealous God, and we can’t keep what He’s been doing for us to ourselves!  Let’s give thanks to God and tell of His goodness because without Him we are absolutely nothing!  With Him, and Him alone that we can be all that we can be!  Share the wonders that He’s done in your life and tell someone of His goodness! Amen.  To hear more click here.

The Great Exodus.

Psalm 23, Jeremiah 16, Philippians 3:12-16

We are walking in today:  The Great Exodus.

Thank You Adonai for sending Your daughter, Pastor Wagner with this word this morning. Thank You for her obedience and time spent in study for this teaching.  May You continue to cover and bless her and her household.  Praise Your holy and righteous name!  Amen

Sin requires judgment. It distorts our judgment of good and evil. God calls us to repent and have moral outrage for His holiness. Perhaps our moral sensibilities have been dulled by today’s dazzling instant communication. We sit mesmerized in front of our televisions unable to turn the sets off so we turn off our minds instead. Over time, so much trash is dumped on us that we come to expect and accept it. The bazaar becomes common place. Morally exhausted, we lose our capacity to discern good from evil. One philosopher summed it up beautifully saying, "The inability to make moral distinctions is the AIDS of the intellectual." Acquired immune deficiency of this caliber requires practice. It has to be learned. In a culture with moral AIDS, words lose all meaning or they are manipulated to hide their true meaning. But, when words lose their meaning, it is nearly impossible for the Word of God to be received. If sin and repentance mean nothing, then God’s grace is irrelevant and our teaching falls on deaf ears. This type of moral deafness leads to disaster. Certainly, evil is to be expected in a fallen world. What’s not to be expected is for holy people to accept it. If Christ is Lord of all, Christians must recapture their sense of moral outrage. This moral deafness has affected male/female relationships, social settings, and family life. Don’t be drawn in by the world’s standards. Be bold in keeping a high standard. Don’t let Satan wear down your defenses. Jesus chose you to follow Him. The Torah found you. When you operate in the Torah, you assure your legal position and withstanding as a child of the King. God’s purpose for your life becomes clear and His voice is clearly heard as you follow His teaching and instruction of the Torah. You return to your source. When you return to your source, you encounter your Creator. In the presence of your Creator, change occurs while His purpose becomes established with you. Amen.  To hear this message again click here.

We seal this prayer in the precious blood of Jesus of Nazareth, the only Begotten of the Heavenly Father and by the Holy Spirit:   Fiveamprayer, let us regain our moral and holy standards that the Lord God Almighty has taught us!  We shall not longer conform to the world--we are in the world but not of it!    Let us stand with Yahweh Nissi, He is our banner and our standard!  Amen!

A New Beginning--The First Ten of the 613 Principles.

We are walking in today: A New Beginning--The First Ten of the 613 Principles.

This arrangement of the 613 principles, the law of our Lord God Almighty, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is from the book by Rabbi Ralph Messer, Torah: Law Or Grace? This book can be ordered online here or in the store if you are in the Denver area here.

The First Commandment-Exodus 20:2-3 2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
I am the LORD your God, Who has taken you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery.

1. I AM the LORD your God--Exodus 20:2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

2. You shall not recognize the gods of others in My Presence--Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

3. You shall not mention the names of gods of others-- Exodus 23:13  And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.

4. Your mouth shall not cause the names of the gods to be heard --Exodus 23:13 And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.

5. You shall worship the LORD your God --Exodus 23:25 And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

6. You shall not seal a covenant with the Canaanite nations or their gods --Exodus 23:32 Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.

7. You shall not practice sorcery --Leviticus 19:26 Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times.

8. You shall not believe in lucky times --Leviticus 19:26 Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times.

9. You shall make tzizit with a thread of blue --Numbers 15:38 Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue:

10. You shall not explore after your heart and after your eyes after which you stray Numbers 15:39 And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the Lord, and do them ; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring:

Let us be careful and consider the consequences for walking in the Torah, the law of the Lord God Almighty.  We can do this as we walk with God, according to His principles!  This is not about our feelings it is about our obedience, we are to live by faith--Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.  Get out of your feelings, God is looking for our commitment and obedience to His word.  Let's look at Enoch, we don't have a lot of details of his life we know that he walked with God for 365 years and was not because the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob took him.  He was found to be walking according to what God would have us to do.  Which is a prototype of the people in the last days to walk and be in alignment with how Adonai would have us to walk.  Enoch lived in a unique time in history before God came with judgment on the earth, what makes Enoch so notable?  He lived a godly life in an ungodly world.  He is our example and had three principles--he walked with God.  But what does that mean, not just living by rules and regulations!  It is looking at the true intentions of the heart, not just going through the motions.  Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?  The two have to be in agreement to walk together.  That we would seek to match the speed and rate that God is walking, not expecting Him to alter to our walk.  The second principle we have is that Enoch was pleasing unto God.  Hebrews 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.  We sometimes get the mistaken notion that God is hard to please.  He knows how we are and were made.  So then how do we please God?  In spite of the fact of being right that we would patiently endure.  1Peter 2:19-20 19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. 20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.  Fiveamprayer, we want to walk in a way that is pleasing to the Lord God Almighty.  Colossians 3:20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.  1John 5:1-3  1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.  We have other scriptures that will help us to walk in a pleasing manner to God like Enoch did.  Hebrews 13:15-16  15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. 16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.  When we give financially to the kingdom of God, He is pleased--Philippians 4:17-18 17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. 18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.  The third principle of Enoch, he was a witness for God.  Enoch walked with God and was well pleasing to Him.  Enoch had a testimony and a witness.  Every Christian has a testimony and a witness.  There are people watching us and observing us.  To be able to witness of Him we must first walk with Him.  As we begin to walk in these 613 principles we are going to see the Almighty God in a whole new way.  New sight, healing and a total life transformation!  That we would walk in overflow blessings, that He would give us insight.  That we are really in relationship with Him!  Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  Adonai, order our steps in Your word.  You are doing a new thing, Fiveamprayer shall ye not know it!  Thank You Elohim.  Teach us Your way, Your ways are higher than our ways.  You are the Lord God, King of the Universe.  Thank You Adonai for sending us Enoch as our example to walk in a way that is pleasing unto you!  Thank You for Your grace and mercy, the favor that is on our lives, thank You Elohim for having your angels to cover and protect us!  Thank You Adonai for Your covering--He is the Lord God Almighty, our God and the God of our forefathers!  Get ready for this new walk, and a new talk.  We are gonna have to deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Him!  We come to stand on Your principles You are Yahweh Nissi, our banner and our standard as we begin to walk in the 613 principles.  Praise His holy and righteous name!  Blessed be His name forever!  This is this the time and the season that He is pouring out His Spirit onto all flesh!  In the name of Yeshua cover us in His precious blood, that we line up like never before.  We send up demands that we would pray Your will and Your way. We ask for forgiveness, thank You Adonai for forgiving us.  That we can get back up and walk in the 613 principles. Thank You Elohim for Your grace to walk in these principles.  Adonai cause us to be obedient unto life!  Praise Your holy and wonderful, mighty and matchless name, Yahweh!  To hear this again click here.

We seal this prayer in the precious blood of Jesus of Nazareth, the only Begotten of the Heavenly Father and by the Holy Spirit:  A new beginning, the word of God says, in the beginning God created.  As Rabbi Messer has taught, He was there before the beginning began.  He began the beginning!  Pray at 9, 12, and 3 and see God move in your life with your walking according to the 613 principles!  Praise Your name, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. 1 Kings 8:28 Yet have thou respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O Lord my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer, which thy servant prayeth before thee to day:

Thank you for joining us to share on the mighty and awesome power our God has.  He hears us when we cry out and are truly seeking Him!  Seek Him in prayer, He is waiting to talk to you!  He kept you today! Tell somebody today, how good He’s been to you! Tell somebody today how He answers prayers. When you need something from the Lord, and you begin to talk to Him, He will open up and make a way for you! Share your testimony today!

As we study the 613 principles you can search for them on Google, under “Rabbi Messer 613 Principles” or “Torah: Law or Grace” to get the principles. Study and show yourselves approved. Amen!

Matthew 20:1-16 Commentary

The direct object of this parable seems to be, to show that though the Jews were first called into the vineyard, at length the gospel should be preached to the Gentiles, and they should be admitted to equal privileges and advantages with the Jews. The parable may also be applied more generally, and shows:
  1. That God is debtor to no man.
  2. That many who begin last, and promise little in religion, sometimes, by the blessing of God, arrive at a great deal of knowledge, grace, and usefulness.
  3. That the recompense of reward will be given to the saints, but not according to the time of their conversion.
It describes the state of the visible church, and explains the declaration that the last shall be first, and the first last, in its various references. Till we are hired (recruited) into the service of God, we are standing all the day idle: a sinful state--called a state of idleness.  But it would seem that Christ takes occasion from the particular case in the parable to make a general statement, that not all who are called would receive reward; because many would not answer the call, or would nullify it by their conduct. The market-place is the world, and from that we are called by the gospel. Come, from this market-place. A man may go idle to hell, but he that will go to heaven, must be diligent.
The first considers it as of individual application--the call of God coming to the soul at different ages of life. Thus the householder is God, the marketplace the world, the vineyard the visible Church, the laborers are men who have to do their work therein, the steward is Christ, who superintends and rewards the faithful workers. The hours of the day represent the various periods of man's life at which they hear and answer God's call to a closer walk with him when, as modern theology terms it, they are converted. Some, at the first hour, from their very infancy, live a pure and holy life; some at the third hour, in early youth, begin to serve God effectually; others at midday, in full maturity; others at the ninth hour, when old age is creeping on them; and lastly others obey the call only at the eleventh hour, at the very approach of death. And all who have labored at all, without regard to the length of service, receive the "penny," i.e. IN OTHER WORDS not some indefinite temporal benefit, but eternal life. Last Friday’s weekend meditation was “Detour”. If you make a detour on a journey, you go by a route which is not the shortest way. A Detour – A long or round about route taken to avoid something or to make a visit along the way. God says come sit with me in the cool of the day, visit with me, I want to discuss some things that concern ME, that I see with regard to your path, I want to talk with you about avoiding some things. Exodus 34:10-16.  Detour- A roundabout way or course, especially a road used temporarily instead of a main route. 2. A deviation from a direct course of action. A roundabout way especially one used temporarily when the main route is closed. A Deviation, a synonym of Detour: meaning doing something that is different from what people consider to be normal or acceptable.

I want to share what the Holy Spirit has given me mathematically concerning this study: 613 PRINCIPLES: 6 +1+3= 10 Breakdown 10, Ten is 1+0=1 Which is GOD.
Concerning the date: Today’s date is 7/1/13= 7+1+1+3=12 Breakdown twelve = there were 12 disciples, students. Let’s go deeper:
7+1+1+3=12 Breakdown Twelve, Twelve = 1+2 which is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Let’s go a little deeper:
7= Completion

Matthew 13 (Contemporary English Version)

A Story about a Farmer
1That same day Jesus left the house and went out beside Lake Galilee, where he sat down to teach. 2 Such large crowds gathered around him that he had to sit in a boat, while the people stood on the shore. 3 Then he taught them many things by using stories. He said: A farmer went out to scatter seed in a field. 4 While the farmer was scattering the seed, some of it fell along the road and was eaten by birds. 5 Other seeds fell on thin, rocky ground and quickly started growing because the soil wasn’t very deep. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched and dried up, because they did not have enough roots. 7 Some other seeds fell where thorn bushes grew up and choked the plants. 8 But a few seeds did fall on good ground where the plants produced a hundred or sixty or thirty times as much as was scattered. 9 If you have ears, pay attention!
Why Jesus Used Stories
10 Jesus' disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you use nothing but stories when you speak to the people?” 11 Jesus answered: I have explained the secrets about the kingdom of heaven to you, but not to others. 12 Everyone who has something will be given more. But people who don’t have anything will lose even what little they have. 13 I use stories when I speak to them because when they look, they cannot see, and when they listen, they cannot hear or understand. 14 So God’s promise came true, just as the prophet Isaiah had said, Isa. 6:9,10 “These people will listen and listen, but never understand. They will look and look, but never see. 15 All of them have stubborn minds! Their ears are stopped up, and their eyes are covered. They cannot see or hear or understand. If they could, they would turn to me, and I would heal them.” 16 But God has blessed you, because your eyes can see and your ears can hear! 17 Many prophets and good people were eager to see what you see and to hear what you hear. But I tell you that they did not see or hear.
Jesus Explains the Story about the Farmer
18 Now listen to the meaning of the story about the farmer: 19 The seeds that fell along the road are the people who hear the message about the kingdom, but don’t understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches the message from their hearts. 20 The seeds that fell on rocky ground are the people who gladly hear the message and accept it right away. 21 But they don’t have deep roots, and they don’t last very long. As soon as life gets hard or the message gets them in trouble, they give up. 22 The seeds that fell among the thorn bushes are also people who hear the message. But they start worrying about the needs of this life and are fooled by the desire to get rich. So the message gets choked out, and they never produce anything. 23 The seeds that fell on good ground are the people who hear and understand the message. They produce as much as a hundred or sixty or thirty times what was planted.
Weeds among the Wheat
24 Jesus then told them this story: The kingdom of heaven is like what happened when a farmer scattered good seed in a field. 25 But while everyone was sleeping, an enemy came and scattered weed seeds in the field and then left. 26 When the plants came up and began to ripen, the farmer’s servants could see the weeds. 27 The servants came and asked, “Sir, didn’t you scatter good seed in your field? Where did these weeds come from?” 28 “An enemy did this,” he replied. His servants then asked, “Do you want us to go out and pull up the weeds?” 29 “No!” he answered. “You might also pull up the wheat. 30 Leave the weeds alone until harvest time. Then I’ll tell my workers to gather the weeds and tie them up and burn them. But I’ll have them store the wheat in my barn.”
Stories about a Mustard Seed and Yeast
31 Jesus told them another story: The kingdom of heaven is like what happens when a farmer plants a mustard seed in a field. 32 Although it is the smallest of all seeds, it grows larger than any garden plant and becomes a tree. Birds even come and nest on its branches. 33 Jesus also said:
The kingdom of heaven is like what happens when a woman mixes a little yeast into three big batches of flour. Finally, all the dough rises.
The Reason for Teaching with Stories
34 Jesus used stories when he spoke to the people. In fact, he did not tell them anything without using stories. 35 So God’s promise came true, just as the prophet had said, “I will use stories to speak my message and to explain things that have been hidden since the creation of the world.”
Jesus Explains the Story about the Weeds
36 After Jesus left the crowd and went inside, his disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the story about the weeds in the wheat field.”
37 Jesus answered: The one who scattered the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, and the good seeds are the people who belong to the kingdom. The weed seeds are those who belong to the evil one, 39 and the one who scattered them is the devil. The harvest is the end of time, and angels are the ones who bring in the harvest. 40 Weeds are gathered and burned. That’s how it will be at the end of time. 41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will gather from his kingdom everyone who does wrong or causes others to sin. 42 Then he will throw them into a flaming furnace, where people will cry and grit their teeth in pain. 43 But everyone who has done right will shine like the sun in their Father’s kingdom. If you have ears, pay attention!
A Hidden Treasure
44 The kingdom of heaven is like what happens when someone finds a treasure hidden in a field and buries it again. A person like that is happy and goes and sells everything in order to buy that field.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST
A Valuable Pearl
45 The kingdom of heaven is like what happens when a shop owner is looking for fine pearls. 46 After finding a very valuable one, the owner goes and sells everything in order to buy that pearl.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST
A Fish Net
47 The kingdom of heaven is like what happens when a net is thrown into a lake and catches all kinds of fish. 48 When the net is full, it is dragged to the shore, and the fishermen sit down to separate the fish. They keep the good ones, but throw the bad ones away. 49 That’s how it will be at the end of time. Angels will come and separate the evil people from the ones who have done right. 50 Then those evil people will be thrown into a flaming furnace, where they will cry and grit their teeth in pain.
New and Old Treasures
51 Jesus asked his disciples if they understood all these things. They said, “Yes, we do.” 52 So he told them, “Every student of the Scriptures who becomes a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like someone who brings out new and old treasures from the storeroom.”
The People of Nazareth Turn against Jesus
53 When Jesus had finished telling these stories, he left 54 and went to his hometown. He taught in their meeting place, and the people were so amazed that they asked, “Where does he get all this wisdom and the power to work these miracles? 55 Isn’t he the son of the carpenter? Isn’t Mary his mother, and aren’t James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas his brothers? 56 Don’t his sisters still live here in our town? How can he do all this?” 57 So the people were very unhappy because of what he was doing. But Jesus said, “Prophets are honored by everyone, except the people of their hometown and their own family.” 58 And because the people did not have any faith, Jesus did not work many miracles there.

2 Corinthians 11:5-6 (NIV) 5 I do not think I am in the least inferior to those “super-apostles.” 6 I may indeed be untrained as a speaker, but I do have knowledge. We have made this perfectly clear to you in every way.
