HOW SMART PEOPLE HANDLE TOXIC PEOPLE WITHOUT LOSING PEACE PART 1

Yeshayahu (Isaiah) chapter 26

Today we are walking in: HOW SMART PEOPLE HANDLE TOXIC PEOPLE WITHOUT LOSING PEACE PART 1

Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 26:3

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace H7965, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

PEACE

Today we look to the word—PEACE—H7965—shalom—completeness, soundness, welfare, peace.

The Torah Testifies……….

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 15:15

And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace H7965; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 26:29

That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace H7965: thou art now the blessed of YAHUAH.

Shemoth (Exodus) 4:18

And Mosheh went and returned to Yithro his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Mitsrayim, and see whether they be yet alive. And Yithro said to Mosheh, Go in peace H7965.

The Prophets Proclaim………

Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 26:3

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace H7965, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 54:10

For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace H7965 be removed, saith YAHUAH that hath mercy on thee.

Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 29:11

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith YAHUAH, thoughts of peace H7965, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

The Writings Witness………

Tehilliym (Psalm) 4:8

I will both lay me down in peace H7965, and sleep: for thou, YAHUAH, only makest me dwell in safety.

Tehilliym (Psalm) 34:14

Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace H7965, and pursue it.

Mishlei (Proverbs) 3:17

Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace H7965.

You will never reach your destiny holding hands with your distraction.

Toxic people are not just bad for your life. They’re dangerous to your purpose. The smartest way to deal with toxic people is not to fight them, not to fix them, but to outgrow them.

Let me ask you a question. Why do you think airplanes fly at high altitudes? Because the higher they go, the less resistance they face. Some people are turbulent. They’re not meant to fly with you. They were only designed for your taxiway, not your takeoff.

Today, I want to show you the smartest way to handle them. Not emotionally, not reactively, but strategically.

Seven Points of My Message

Toxic people are purpose killers.

Toxic people are not always easy to recognize at first glance, but if you give them enough time, they’ll show you their nature. Not with one big blow, but with a thousand small cuts. One sarcastic comment here. One dismissive look there. A little manipulation disguised as concern. They come in many forms. Sometimes they’re loud and obvious, but the most dangerous ones are the subtle ones, the ones who act like they’re helping you while they’re quietly suffocating your confidence.

Imagine planting a seed in your backyard. Every day you water it. You speak life to it. You make sure it gets enough sunlight. But then a weed grows right beside it. And this weed doesn’t just sit there. It starts pulling the nutrients, invading the roots, and slowing the growth of the very thing you planted with purpose.

That’s what a toxic person does. They drain what’s supposed to grow in you. They interrupt your process, and they disguise their presence by pretending to be part of your garden.

A toxic person doesn’t always attack your talent. What they really go after is your identity. Because if they can get you to question who you are, they’ve already won. You’ll still show up to work, still attend the meetings, still smile in public. But internally, you’re shrinking.

And here’s the hard truth. Some people are not in your life to grow with you. They’re there to distract you from who you’re becoming.

Have you ever noticed how the moment you start pursuing something greater—starting that business, going back to school, choosing peace, setting higher standards—those very people start acting up? That’s not a coincidence. That’s a pattern because toxic people don’t like growth, especially not growth that exposes their lack of it.

Let’s say you’re on a journey. You’re walking up a mountain. Every step you take is a step toward clarity, discipline, peace, and fulfillment. And then there’s someone behind you yelling, “Who do you think you are? You’ve changed. Don’t forget where you came from.”

But listen, changing isn’t the problem. Staying stuck is. You can love where you came from and still refuse to stay there. You can be loyal without being limited. And that’s what toxic people don’t understand. You’re not rejecting them. You’re choosing you.

I once heard someone say, “Don’t let someone stay in your life longer than they should just because you’re afraid of being alone.”

That hit me deep because how many of us are entertaining dysfunction just to avoid discomfort? Some of us would rather stay in unhealthy friendships or relationships because at least they’re familiar. But familiarity is not the same as destiny. Just because you’ve known someone for 10 years doesn’t mean they still qualify for the next chapter. Longevity doesn’t equal alignment.

A toxic person can be a friend who never claps when you win. A sibling who mocks your vision. A partner who always brings up your past but never supports your future.

And sometimes it’s not about cutting people off with a sword. It’s about slipping away with wisdom. You don’t always need to make an announcement. You don’t need to explain yourself to people who are committed to misunderstanding you. Just move differently. Elevate. And when they can’t find you in the old spaces, let them wonder.

You’ve got to get to the place where your peace is more expensive than their approval. Your purpose is more valuable than their opinion. You weren’t created to manage other people’s insecurities. You were designed to manifest purpose.

And toxic people? They’ll always be threatened by that. Because when you shine, it reminds them of where they settled.

Let’s be honest. Dealing with toxic people doesn’t mean you hate them. It just means you refuse to shrink for them anymore. You refuse to silence your dreams so they feel comfortable. You refuse to carry guilt for choosing what’s best for your mental and emotional well-being. That’s not selfish. That’s wisdom.

Some people are addicted to drama. And if you’re not careful, they’ll make your peace feel boring. But trust me, peace is not boring. Peace is power. Peace is clarity. Peace is the foundation of purpose. And anyone who threatens your peace consistently is not someone you need in close proximity.

Imagine being in a boat with a small hole in it. It doesn’t matter how big the ocean is. If you don’t patch the leak, you’ll sink. Toxic people are those leaks. They might look harmless at first, but the longer they stay, the heavier it gets. You end up drained, distracted, discouraged. But the moment you identify the leak and make the decision to fix it, to remove the source, you stop surviving and start thriving.

You can’t be who you’re supposed to be and still cling to people who want you to stay who you used to be. Growth will offend the stagnant. Purpose will confuse the insecure. And you have to be okay with being misunderstood if it means you finally walk in clarity.

Toxic people are not your responsibility to fix, but your future. That’s your responsibility to protect.
