Yochanon (John) 14:27
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
PEACE
Today we look to the word PEACE — H7965 — shalom — completeness, wholeness, welfare, safety, health, prosperity, quietness, rest, and peace.
The Torah Testifies………
Bemidbar (Numbers) 6:24–26
“YAHUAH bless thee, and keep thee: YAHUAH make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: YAHUAH lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace H7965.”
Wayiqra (Leviticus) 26:6
“And I will give peace H7965 in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid.”
The Prophets Proclaim………
Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 26:3
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace H7965, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee.”
Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 9:6
“…and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty El, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace H7965.”
The Writings Witness………
Tehilliym (Psalm) 29:11
“YAHUAH will give strength unto His people; YAHUAH will bless His people with peace H7965.”
Mishlei (Proverbs) 3:1–2
“My son, forget not My Torah… for length of days, and long life, and peace H7965, shall they add to thee.”
Now we come to one of the most powerful examples of emotional strength ever demonstrated.
If you truly want to stop letting everything shake you, then study the life of Yahusha.
If anyone had reasons to become offended…
Discouraged…
Frustrated…
Or emotionally exhausted…
It was Him.
Think about it.
Yahusha healed people.
Yet some still criticized Him.
Yahusha fed people.
Yet many still doubted Him.
Yahusha loved people.
Yet they rejected Him.
Yahusha performed miracles.
Yet they questioned Him.
Yahusha spoke truth.
Yet many opposed Him.
Imagine that.
The only perfect person who ever lived was constantly misunderstood…
Constantly criticized…
Constantly challenged…
Constantly opposed.
Yet somehow…
He remained calm.
He remained focused.
He remained peaceful.
He remained committed to His assignment.
How?
Because Yahusha never allowed people to determine what only Elohiym should determine.
He never allowed public opinion to define His identity.
He never allowed criticism to redefine His mission.
He never allowed rejection to cancel His purpose.
That is one of the greatest lessons we can learn.
Many people are emotionally unstable because they allow people to occupy a place in their lives that belongs only to Elohiym.
They allow people to determine their worth.
Their confidence.
Their joy.
Their peace.
The problem is that people are inconsistent.
Their opinions change.
Their emotions change.
Their support changes.
Their attitudes change.
But Elohiym never changes.
When your peace is rooted in Elohiym rather than people…
You become much harder to shake.
One of the most remarkable things about Yahusha is that He understood exactly who He was.
Before His public ministry began, the Father declared:
“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
From that moment forward…
Yahusha operated from identity—not insecurity.
He was never trying to prove who He was.
He already knew who He was.
That makes a tremendous difference.
Insecure people spend their lives trying to convince others.
Secure people spend their lives fulfilling their purpose.
Think about how much energy is wasted trying to gain approval.
Trying to impress people.
Trying to silence critics.
Trying to satisfy everyone.
Trying to make everyone understand.
The reality is…
It can never be done.
No matter how kind you are…
Someone will criticize you.
No matter how faithful you are…
Someone will misunderstand you.
No matter how successful you become…
Someone will dislike you.
Yahusha understood this.
That is why He focused on His assignment rather than people’s reactions.
Imagine what would have happened if Yahusha spent His entire ministry responding to every criticism…
Answering every accusation…
Defending Himself against every attack…
Trying to convince every doubter.
He would never have completed His mission.
The same principle applies to us.
Every moment spent obsessing over criticism is a moment not spent fulfilling purpose.
Every moment spent chasing approval is a moment not spent pursuing Elohiym’s calling.
Every moment spent worrying about opinions is a moment not spent becoming who Elohiym created you to be.
Purpose requires focus.
And focus requires emotional discipline.
One of the greatest demonstrations of this appears in Yochanon (John) 14:27.
Yahusha said:
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Notice something extraordinary.
Yahusha spoke these words shortly before His crucifixion.
Think about the pressure He was carrying.
The betrayal.
The suffering.
The opposition.
The unimaginable burden resting upon Him.
Yet in the middle of all that…
He spoke about peace.
Not temporary peace.
His peace.
A peace that does not depend upon circumstances.
A peace that does not depend upon people’s opinions.
A peace that does not depend upon favorable outcomes.
A peace rooted in relationship with the Father.
That is the kind of peace Elohiym desires for you.
Not a peace that disappears whenever life becomes difficult.
A peace that survives criticism.
A peace that survives rejection.
A peace that survives setbacks.
A peace that survives uncertainty.
Because true peace is not the absence of trouble.
It is the presence of Elohiym in the middle of trouble.
Many people believe peace comes when everything finally goes their way.
When finances improve.
When relationships become easier.
When opportunities arrive.
When problems disappear.
If that were true…
Peace would always be temporary.
Because life will always contain challenges.
Yahusha offers something far greater.
He offers peace that remains regardless of circumstances.
That changes everything.
When your peace comes from Elohiym…
People lose their power to control it.
Criticism may come.
Peace remains.
Disappointment may come.
Peace remains.
Opposition may come.
Peace remains.
Difficult seasons may come.
Peace remains.
The storm may rage around you.
But it no longer governs what happens inside you.
Purpose and peace are closely connected.
The more focused you become on Elohiym’s purpose…
The less distracted you become by people’s opinions.
The more confident you become in Elohiym’s calling…
The less vulnerable you become to criticism.
The more secure you become in Elohiym’s love…
The less dependent you become on approval.
Yahusha understood His purpose.
Because of that…
He wasn’t constantly reacting.
He was leading.
Serving.
Teaching.
Moving forward.
Perhaps someone reading this today needs to hear this.
You have spent too much time worrying about what people think.
Too much time defending yourself.
Too much time trying to gain approval.
Too much time worrying about criticism.
Meanwhile…
Your purpose has been waiting.
Your calling has been waiting.
Your growth has been waiting.
Your future has been waiting.
Elohiym did not create you to spend your life managing everyone’s opinion.
He created you to fulfill your assignment.
The moment you truly understand that…
Your priorities begin to change.
You stop asking,
“What do people think about me?”
And you begin asking,
“What does Elohiym want me to do next?”
That shift changes everything.
Because once your focus moves from people to purpose…
Protecting your peace becomes much easier.
Yet there is still another challenge we must address.
Even after you stop allowing people to control your peace…
There are still countless influences competing for your attention every single day.
Negative conversations.
Fear-filled news.
Toxic environments.
Endless distractions.
If you are not careful…
Those influences can quietly steal the peace you are trying to protect.
Which brings us to a critical question:
What are you allowing into your mind?
