Are We Aware — or Ignorant — of What Sin Is? Two Examples from the Ten Commandments

As we look at some practical examples of becoming aware of what sin is, let’s focus on two of the Commandments shown above, the Second Commandment and the Fourth Commandment.
Example 1: The Second Commandment

As our first example, notice carefully the wording of the Second Commandment. Notice that the Hebrew word לא (Lo) has been highlighted in bold type, in the Ten Commandments table above. This is a particularly interesting feature, in that the Hebrew word ‘Lo’ means “You shall not.” Thus wherever we see the word ‘Lo’ in these commandments, we know this is a stand-alone command, which does not depend on any other passage to give further context, to qualify or change its meaning.

The significance of the Hebrew word לא in verses 4 and 5 of the Second Commandment, is that verse 5 does not supply the context for verse 4, but verse 4 is to be understood within its own context. This tells us that one need not ‘bow down’ or ‘serve’ a forbidden object, as seen in verse 5, for that object to be classified as an idol.




In verse 4, The Most High Yah tells us not to make a particular shape of object. Notice however, the Hebrew word translated ‘make,’ Strong’s number, has many additional meanings, including the ideas of “do, make, fashion, acquire, have, maintain, prepare,” and a number of additional meanings.




And because verse 4 is a stand-alone command, it tells us that to ‘make’ [make, prepare, keep, acquire, maintain, attend to] the described object is forbidden, without regard to whether the owner bows down to it.




This stand-alone command feature is especially important as we look at the practical meaning of the Second Commandment, as revealed in verses 4 and 5. Let’s now look closely at these two passages, to see what they are actually saying:

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: (Exodus 20:4)




Now notice what The Most High Yah tells us next:

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me. (Exodus 20:5)




Verse 4 tells us not to make, fashion, acquire, or have a graven [carved or fashioned] image of any living being, which includes art objects, statues, figurines, and toys commonly found in the home or office.




But as it begins to dawn upon us what verse 4 actually says, many would say, “But I do not bow down to it, as verse 5 warns — so perhaps it is acceptable to ‘make, fashion, acquire, or have’ the object in my possession, in my home or office.”




This is a grave error, to think that verse 5 supplies ‘context’ or meaning to verse 4. Instead, as we have noted, each verse, Exodus 20:4 and Exodus 20:5, are separate, stand-alone “Do not” commands, each containing the Hebrew word ‘lo.’ This information sheds new light onto these passages, and reveals to us a further depth of meaning.




Thus in verse 4, we are told not to “make, fashion, acquire, or have” the described object — and in verse 5 we are told not to bow down to them, even if they had been “made or fashioned” by someone else. Each passage is a separate command, each independent of the other for contextual meaning.

Nevertheless, many today will consider their valued objects, think about their expensive collections of figurines and statues, art objects, and decorations, and will hold them too dear to abandon. They will continue to ignore The Most High Yah’s Word regarding the command, “do not make” [or have] these described objects. Instead, many will substitute their own understanding of what this command is saying.




Again, they reason, “But I am not bowing down to this object, so it’s OK to have it.” But this way of thinking is exactly what King Saul did, and this is exactly why The Most High Yah considers stubbornness as the sin of idolatry — when we exalt our own understanding above what The Most High Yah’s Word actually says.




So if we reject The Most High Yah’s simple and clear Word to us in verse 4, and instead choose to follow our own understanding, thinking “But I do not bow down to it, so perhaps it is acceptable to make, fashion, acquire, or have,” then we are in essence, doing as King Saul did. This is idolatry in The Most High Yah’s eyes.




We have also created an idol of the heart, by substituting our ‘own understanding’ in place of what The Most High Yah’s Word actually says.

What verse 4 actually says is, “Do not make, acquire, or have” the described object. Period!

And verse 5 actually says, “Do not bow down to, or serve the [above described] objects, even if they were “made or fashioned” by someone else. Period!




Read together in this manner, verses 4 and 5 say, “You shall not make [have, acquire, maintain, etc.] for yourselves a graven image, nor any likeness of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; Neither shall you bow yourself down to them, nor serve them.”




In simple terms, the Second Commandment is plainly telling us:

The Second Commandment:


Neither make [have, etc.] the object (verse 4);


Nor bow down to it, nor serve it (verse 5).




Now let’s look at another feature of these two passages, the “cause-and effect” relationship seen in these two verses.
Cause and Effect

Not only do Exodus 20:4 and Exodus 20:5 give us two separate, explicit commands, but they are a classic example of a Biblical “cause-and-effect” relationship. “Do not do [Action 1], because it will inevitably lead you to do [Action 2], which you are also forbidden to do.”

The not-so-obvious, hidden cause-and-effect relationship between verse 4 and verse 5 tells us that to make, acquire, or have a forbidden object, inevitably leads to a hidden attachment to them, a bowing down to them [hidden in our heart, not seen or perceived], and a hidden serving of them [hidden in our heart, not seen or perceived].




The Most High Yah knew if we were to make or have these objects, we would become attached to them, and that is a form of worshipping them. Through our natural sentimentality toward an object, we can create an attachment to that object, creating an idolatry of the heart. This idolatry will only strengthen the stronghold of the enemy, bringing into our homes various torments — such as strife, discord, anger, rebellion, sicknesses, troubles, and unbelief.




This stronghold of idolatry is the inevitable outcome of this cause-and-effect relationship seen in the Second Commandment.




What does this mean for Believers today, in a practical sense?




When we consider the truth that many types of art objects, decorations, statues, figurines, and toys are simply fabricated representations of male or female living things, we then realize that these are forbidden objects, and are off-limits to Believers.




Thus if we make, prepare, keep, acquire, have, maintain, or attend to them, we have disobeyed the 2nd Commandment, which according to the apostle John, is sin (1John 3:4).




The Most High Yah does, however, give us a choice. He watches us, to see whether we will follow Him, by careful obedience to what He has said in His Word — or whether we choose to follow our own sentimentality toward an object, thus clouding our own understanding.




Father is also looking for a Bride for His son, and so He is looking for hearts that are soft and teachable, and fully yielded to obedience to His Word. The choices we make reveal our heart.




Here is what Father sees, based on the choices we make regarding the Second Commandment:

The deceived heart, in an attempt to justify its own actions, will do everything possible to twist the meaning of what the Second Commandment actually says, looking for a ‘loophole’ that would allow one to have, and to keep, one’s forbidden objects.


The soft heart, however, says, “Whether I am convinced or not, I do not want to gamble on even the slightest odds that I might be wrong.”


The teachable heart then says, “I will not take even the slightest chance, that I might offend the Bridegroom because of a few earthly trinkets, so I will destroy or discard these objects from my home!”


The yielded heart is one that is quick to discard or destroy anything, regardless of its cost or value, that might cause a sin or offense against the Bridegroom, or a stumbling-block to a fellow Believer.

What can we conclude? As the apostle Paul tells us (Romans 3:20b; Romans 7:7b), it is by the Torah [law] that we have knowledge of sin — that we become aware of what sin is — so we can avoid committing sin.




The Ten Commandments form the most basic list of commands that reveal to us what sin is. If we choose to disobey any of these commands, we know we have transgressed the Law — we have committed a sin (1John 3:4).




In this example, we have seen how our heart is revealed, dependent on how we respond to the Second Commandment.




We have also seen how the sin of idolatry is revealed, in anyone who chooses to disobey the Second Commandment.




Now let us look at another practical example of becoming aware of what sin is, as we look at the Fourth Commandment.

Many have heard of the Ten Commandments. Many today are asking what they are, and how are they to be obeyed.



Some today have heard that obedience to the Ten Commandments is necessary for salvation. Others have heard that salvation is dependent only upon one’s faith in Yahushua [Jesus], for the forgiveness of sins. Still others have been told that those who have been Born-Again, by believing in Yahushua, need not obey the Ten Commandments. But what do the Scriptures tell us?



In this short writing we will look at what the Ten Commandments say, and then see what the Scriptures themselves have to say about the Ten Commandments. We will look carefully at a few of the least understood Scripture passages themselves, to see what they actually say. Only when we read the Scripture passages for ourselves, are we better able to make our own decisions as to what the Ten Commandments are, and how we should respond to them.

We will take special note of who it was that spoke these commandments. We will also see to whom they were given, and how the Ten Commandments fit in with all of Scripture. We will then see what the Scriptures tell us about those who do obey the commandments, and what they say about those who do not.
What are the Ten Commandments?


After The Most High Yah brought the Israelites out from slavery in Egypt (Exodus 20:2), He led them into the wilderness of Arabia. It was there that The Most High Yah gave them His Marriage Covenant, summarised in the stone tablets of the Ten Commandments (Galatians 4:25; Exodus 34:27-28; Deuteronomy 4:13).



We must first understand, that it was the person of Messiah who appeared to Abraham as the Word of The Most High Yah (Genesis 15:1,4), and as the apostle Paul tells us in (1Corinthians 10:1-4), it was Messiah who accompanied the Israelites in their journey through the wilderness. This bit of information is a key piece of the puzzle, that enables us to understand and to learn Father’s Ways, as we shall see below.



It was also on Mount Sinai that The Most High Yah spoke to Moses by the Word of The Most High Yah, who is Messiah (Num 3:16,51; 15:31; 36:5). It was Messiah who spoke the Ten Commandments, also called the Ten Words. Likewise it was Messiah who wrote these Words on tables of stone with His own finger — ‘the finger of God’ (Exodus 31:18; Luke 11:20), and gave the tables to Moses, to give to the people. The entire account can be seen in the Bible, in Exodus chapter 20.



After receiving the tablets of the Ten Commandments, Moses descended from the mountain. When he reached the base of the mountain, Moses saw the Israelites celebrating in an unrestrained manner, and worshipping a golden calf they had made. Moses threw down the stone tablets and broke them, giving us a prophetic picture of God’s people who would break The Most High Yah’s Everlasting Covenant, in preparation for the coming of Messiah who would permanently restore The Most High Yah’s Everlasting Covenant.



Moses then returned to the top of the mountain, to commune with The Most High Yah. Through a series of events, Moses then descended with a second set of stone tablets, whose wording was identical to the first set. This second set of tablets gives us another prophetic picture of the Second or ‘New’ Covenant that would be written internally, on the heart, and whose wording would be identical to that of the First or ‘Old’ covenant, seen prophetically in the first set of broken tablets, and mentioned in (Hebrews 8:7, 9:1).



It was later in the wilderness wanderings that the Word of The Most High Yah gave to Moses further details of the commandments, which were written in the Book of the Law [‘Torah’], the collection of Father’s instructions for His people. The tablets of the Ten Commandments were placed into the ark of the Covenant (Exodus 25:21; 1Kings 8:9), which is prophetic of placing the words of the Law [Torah] into the hearts of His Disciples within whom Messiah would dwell (Prov 7:2-3; Jeremiah 31:33; Hebrews 8:10; Hebrews 10:16; 2Corinthians 3:3; Colossians 1:27).



The Book of the Law was also placed in the side of the ark, as a witness (Deuteronomy 31:26), which is another prophetic picture for us, showing us how we become aware of exactly what sin is (Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7). It is only by having the Law of God written internally in our heart that we begin to know [perceive or become aware of] sin, which is unrighteousness (Psalms 37:31; Isaiah 51:7; Romans 3:20, 7:7; Hebrews 8:10; Hebrews 10:16; 1John 5:17).



The tables of the Ten Commandments form the basis of all civil life and relationships for all of The Most High Yah’s people. They are the basics of how The Most High Yah’s people are to relate to Him, and to each other. The Ten Commandments are the basic and essential part of The Most High Yah’s instructions for His people, and they are the foundation of Father’s ‘Rules of the House’ by which His children are expected to live.

The Ten Commandments

The Scripture passages containing the Ten Commandments are listed in the table below, as seen in Exodus 20:2-17. These are shown first as Biblical Hebrew, then as the KJV listing, and finally the World English Bible.



The Scripture verses for each commandment, along with references and author’s comments [in brackets], are shown above for the Reader’s benefit. This information is shown because many religious groups divide up the Ten Commandments in various ways, as a means of hiding some of the words. Some religious groups completely remove certain words altogether, and the Reader is thus robbed of knowing the Truth!


What is important is not how these Commandments are divided up, but that all the words of the Commandments be shown in entirety, so that the Reader may benefit from ‘every word’ that proceeds from the mouth of The Most High Yah (Matt 4:4; Luke 4:4).
The New Covenant Importance of the Commandments

Why are the Commandments important?


It is important to understand that we can not be saved by being obedient to the Commandments. The first step to our salvation is to first understand that we have been disobedient to the Commandments, and as a result, we are called sinners. Thus in order to be saved, we must have a Saviour to save us from our sins. In order to be saved, we must first realise that we are all sinners, and that we all need a Saviour to save us [rescue us] from our sins.


One might then ask, “What is sin?” The Scriptures tell us sin is transgression of the law (1John 3:4), which means disobedience of The Most High Yah’s commandments. If we have disobeyed any commandment of the Scriptures that would apply to us, we are sinners by the Biblical definition. It is only by our understanding of the Commandments that we know what sin is; and it is only by the conviction of the Holy Spirit that we know that we ourselves are personally guilty of sin. And so it is by understanding the commandment, and by knowing I have disobeyed the commandment, that I am convicted by the Holy Spirit, and know that I need a Saviour, to save me from my sins.


After we become Born-Again, why are the Commandments important?


As new Believers, we are exhorted to give our hearts to Yahushua, and to let our eyes observe [delight in keeping, and walking in] His Ways (Proverbs 23:26). Father’s ways are seen throughout the Torah, and are taught in the places of assembly each Sabbath, just as the Jerusalem council tells us in Acts 15:19-21.


As we learn Father’s Ways in the ‘Old’ Testament writings, we begin to see that His Ways are ways of Righteousness, and ways that are holy [‘set-apart as special’]. These are ways wherein we allow Him to lead us away from the ways of sin, iniquity, and defilement, and toward a Biblical lifestyle of Righteousness, and of being set-apart unto Him.


Yahushua [Jesus] exhorts all those who have been saved from their sins, to stop sinning (John 5:14; 8:11; 1Cor 15:34; Eph 4:26; 1John 2:1; 3:4, 8, 9). Even for those who have been saved and forgiven of their sins, continued sin thereafter blocks the intimate relationship that Yahushua desires of each of His children. If we sin, we can confess our sins to The Most High Yah as soon as we become aware of them (1John 1:8-9), and He then forgives us of our sins, and cleanses us from all unrighteousness.


But how are we to know what things are considered sin?


The apostle Paul tells us that by the Torah comes the knowledge of sin [the awareness of what is considered sin, so that we might avoid it] (Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7). The value of the commandments found throughout the Torah, is that they define for us what The Most High Yah considers sin, unrighteousness, iniquity, and wickedness. The commandments tell us in plain and simple terms, what we are to do, and what we should avoid doing, if we want to stop committing sins!


As we grow in our walk with Yahushua, we learn to run to Him daily, or as often as necessary, to confess our sins, so that He may wash us, and cleanse us from all sin [unrighteousness] (1John 1:7-9; 1John 5:17). And as we continue to study the Scriptures, we become more and more aware of what to avoid. We also become more aware of the Great mercy He has shown to us by giving us His forgiveness, and the Great Grace He has given to us to enable us to do what is right.

Sinners Are Malfunctioning Citizens

This condition of a heart and spirit that are not right with The Most High has been man’s plight ever since the first man and woman chose disobedience over obedience.

Adam and Eve certainly appeared to be functioning fine after they left the Garden in that they lived to be more than 900 years old. In truth, they were malfunctioning fine. Adam was still working the ground and having kids as The Most High had intended when He first created man. Nevertheless, Adam was completely malfunctioning because nothing outside its intended environment can function properly. Adam couldn’t function like he’d been designed to do because the absence of The Most High’s presence made it impossible for him to live like The Most High had planned he would live.

This is why Adam is said to have died when he sinned. Although his physical being didn’t die immediately, Adam did die spiritually in the exact moment he was cut off from The Most High’s presence because death is the absence of the presence of The Most High in a man or a woman’s life. So we see that the man The Most High had pronounced to be “very good” (see Gen. 1:31) became very wrong because he had lost his ideal environment. He was a good creation in the wrong place and thus began to malfunction (sin).
Death is the absence of The Most High’s presence in your life.

This is the whole problem with our world today. Men and women are malfunctioning (sinning) because they cannot function properly apart from The Most High. This condition of malfunction would have continued indefinitely had The Most High not intervened to rescue the human beings that He had created with His image and likeness. While we were yet unable to return to His presence because we were contaminated by sin, The Most High died for us.

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Maschiach died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But The Most High demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Maschiach died for us. Since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from The Most High’s wrath through Him! For if, when we were The Most High’s enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life! (Romans 5:6-10)

The Most High came to our rescue because He wants His family back. He knows that sin is the malfunctioning of a citizen, and that citizens who are in the wrong environment are incapable of functioning correctly, so He sought to restore us to our right environment.

Since The Most High’s work of restoration is a work in process, the evidence of man’s estrangement from The Most High because of his lost holiness is a constant refrain throughout the history of The Most High’s dealings with His people. Indeed, no generation escaped this slavery to sin as “again and again they put The Most High to the test [and] vexed the Holy One of Israel” until The Most High dealt with them because of their sin (see Ps. 78:41). Moses and Aaron, who lost the opportunity to lead The Most High’s people into the Promised Land because they neglected to honor the Most High’s holiness before the people, are but an example of the many who have suffered because of their unwillingness—and indeed their inability because of their separation from The Most High—to be holy as The Most High is holy.

But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in Me enough to honor Me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.” These were the waters of Meribah, where the Israelites quarreled with the Lord and where He showed Himself holy among them (Numbers 20:12-13).

Before the fall it was easy for man to get to The Most High—The Most High’s presence was where he spent every moment of every day—and to be holy as The Most High is holy—that was man’s innate nature. Once man sinned, however, things changed because he lost the right to be with The Most High every day.

Now The Most High has to deal with all our sin, iniquity, and rebellion before He can let us get near His holy place. And even when we get there, we will find cherubim and seraphim hovering around The Most High to prevent us from approaching Him before our sin is atoned for.

Restoring you to your garden home has been The Most High’s plan all along. You are valuable to The Most High despite your sin. Your only problem is that you are in a bad environment, an environment that is something other than where The Most High created you to live. So Yeshua paid the exact price you are worth. He laid down His image to buy you back because He knows that although you are a sinner, you still retain His image. In other words, your value didn’t change when your environment changed, so The Most High devised a plan to redeem you and to restore you to His presence.

The Most High WANTS HIS FAMILY BACK.

Truly every act of The Most High since man’s fall from His presence has been done to restore the relationship that man severed through sin. The entire Old Testament, from Genesis to Malachi, is the story of The Most High’s efforts to put man back into the garden environment that he lost.

Please note that the Bible is the story of The Most High’s efforts, not man’s, to restore things to the way they once were. Man cannot accomplish this task alone. He cannot regain his proper environment without the help of his Creator. Truly he cannot even know what is his proper environment and how he was made to function unless The Most High provides the way to bring him back. Man cannot overcome his sin apart from his Savior.

Man’s inability to restore the communion with The Most High that was broken by sin has not stopped him from trying to reestablish this connection. The many religions of the world and the increased interest in spiritual things in our generation show just how hard man has tried and still is trying to become reconnected with The Most High. Man, when he is living apart from the presence of The Most High, knows that he is lost and empty, with no anchor or foundation for his soul. Whether or not he understands the reason for this void in his life, he feels the effects of it and often spends much time, effort, and money trying to fix his problem.

Nevertheless, none of our self-help books, spiritual exercises, or occult rituals can fulfill our spiritual need. The Most High’s prescription for our sin is the only one that works. The only way we become reconnected with The Most High is to accept His gift of salvation through Yeshua HaMaschiach to cleanse us from all sin. The only way we can stay connected is to practice His presence on a daily basis. Sadly, our refusal to accept The Most High’s prescription for sin is quite evident in our sin-filled world.

Do you know why you keep sinning? You sin because you stop, or have never started, practicing the presence of The Most High. It’s tough to sin and fellowship with The Most High at the same time. This truth is why you must practice the presence of the Most High all day long.

“How do I practice the presence of The Most High?” you may ask. “Through praise and worship” is the answer. When you are at your job, just hum a song. It’s hard to cuss, to gossip, or to complain when you’re humming a song. When someone does something to hurt you or to make things difficult for you, just start praying or singing. You can’t get angry when you are talking to The Most High and singing His praises.

This is quite different from what people used to say when I was growing up, “Look, I can put my religion on the side for a minute or I am going to put down my clergy. ” What they meant was, “I’ll stop worshiping, I’ll stop practicing the presence of The Most High for a minute so I can curse you. Then I’ll pick it back up again when I’ve finished taking care of you.” The Most High doesn’t intend that we live like this. He designed us to always be with Him. He planned that we would never have to function without Him. He wanted us to know the joy, peace, and power of living with Him: “In Thy presence is fulness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Ps. 16:11b KJV). Joy and pleasures are The Most High’s gifts for His children when they stay in the environment He planned for them. So if you stay in The Most High’s presence, you will always please Him. Then you won’t have to fight anybody, because He’ll do it for you. Indeed, He will make your enemies your footstool (see Ps. 110:1).

Praise and worship are The Most High’s solutions to get us back into His presence. We must be clear, however, that praise and worship don’t put us back into The Most High’s presence; they bring The Most High’s presence to us. That is, they are but the means that provide the conditions that invite The Most High to come to us as He came to Adam and Eve in the cool of the day. They are the tools that set the stage for The Most High’s arrival.

All salvation history is the story of The Most High’s efforts to do just this: to reestablish the conditions where He can live with His people as He did in the garden. He is our Source and our Manufacturer. Therefore, He is the only One who knows both what He created us to do (our purpose) and where He designed us to succeed (our ideal environment). He is also the only One who can help us regain all that we lost through sin.

Everything in life was created to function within a specific environment.




Man’s ideal environment is the presence of The Most High.




Man’s sin has separated him from his ideal environment.




Sinners are malfunctioning citizens. Therefore, all our problems stem from the fact that we have lost our ideal environment.




The Most High is holy. He cannot allow sin to enter His presence.




Salvation through Yeshua HaMaschiach is the only means by which we can return to The Most High’s presence.



Praise and worship are The Most High’s gifts to restore His presence to man.

Chapter 2— MAN’S GREATEST NEED

The Most High’s greatest desire and man’s deepest need is to share an enduring Spirit-to-spirit relationship. Since The Most High is a The Most High of principles, everything He created was established to operate by certain principles that guarantee its proper function. So, all created things—whether plant, animal, fish, bird, star, or human being—must adhere to the principles that govern their life if they are to release their potential and fulfill their purpose. One of the most important of these principles ordained by The Most High to preserve and protect His handiwork and to assure the maximum performance of each created thing is the principle of environment.
The Principle of Environment

The word environment is defined as “circumstances, objects, and conditions by which one is surrounded” (Webster’s, “environment”). Therefore, an environment may refer to the forces that affect the state of things, the components that make up the climate in which something exists, or the conditions in which a thing exists. Everything in life was created to function within the particular environment that The Most High prescribed for it before He created it.

In essence, before the moment of creation, The Most High decided both what He would make His creation from and where He would place it after He had made it. This place designed to individually suit the makeup and purpose of each thing The Most High made was its environment. When the environment was ready, The Most High called forth each creation from its intended source and put it in the specific environment He had made for it.

So before The Most High created the sun and the moon and the myriad of stars, He first called forth the light and separated it from the darkness, calling the light “day” and the darkness “night.” He also made a firmament or expanse to separate the waters above from the waters below and called the firmament “sky.” Only then, after all this was completed, did The Most High call forth the lights from the heavens and set them in the sky to mark the day, the night, and the seasons (see Gen. 1:1-8; 14-18).

The Most High’s process in creating plants and animals reveals the same pattern. Before He spoke plants and animals into being, He gathered the waters together so that dry ground would appear. The dry ground He called “land” and the waters He called “seas.” Only then did He speak to the sea, commanding it to bring forth the many kinds of fish and sea creatures, and to the land, commanding it to bring forth all manner of vegetation, seed-bearing plants and trees according to their kind, and all living creatures, livestock and wild animals according to their kind (see Gen. 1:9-12; 20-25).

Finally, The Most High was ready to make man.

Then The Most High said: “Let Us make man in Our image, in Our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So The Most High created man in His own image, in the image of The Most High He created him; male and female He created them (Genesis 1:26-27).

These verses from Genesis clearly reveal that The Most High is man’s source. When The Most High made man, He spoke to Himself and man came out of Him. Thus, man was created both to be of the same essence as The Most High, who is spirit, and to live in the same environment as The Most High, which is the realm of the spirit or the environment of The Most High (see John 4:24).

So we see that The Most High prescribed an environment for everything He created before He created it. Then He placed the thing in it. Therefore, you cannot expect one of The Most High’s products to function properly if you do not understand the environment He prescribed for it. In essence, a misplaced product will malfunction if you do not follow the prescription for the environment The Most High ordained. A product in the wrong environment just won’t work properly.

The Most High prescribed an environment for everything He created. Therefore, environments can be good or bad, positive or negative, healthy or unhealthy depending on what the manufacturer prescribed for the product you are using. The environment itself is not necessarily bad, negative, or unhealthy. Rather the problem is a misplaced product. A particular environment is wrong only because the product was not designed to function in it. The prescription and the actuality don’t match.

To say it another way, the nature of the environment will always affect the state, function, and efficiency of a product. If, for example, you buy a $5,000 television, throw it into the ocean, then try to make it work, you will soon find that you wasted your $5,000. Or, if you drag a boat down a highway behind a truck, you will find when you try to use the boat in the water that it has been destroyed by the road. Why has this happened? You put the television and the boat into the wrong environment. The manufacturer never intended that you would put the television into the ocean or drag the boat on the highway.

Therefore, no matter how expensive the product is, it will shut down if the environment of operation is different from what the manufacturer intended. A wrong environment—that is, an environment where the product is out of place—will always translate into wasted potential. Truly the key to a product’s efficient and effective operation is the environment in which it is placed.

Consequently, we must clearly understand the environment prescribed for each product because it is the environment that determines the product’s success or failure. This prescribed environment is what we may call a product’s ideal environment. An ideal environment means that there is a perfect environment that The Most High (or a manufacturer) has prescribed for each product. This is why The Most High placed man in Eden. Eden is man’s ideal environment.
Man’s Ideal Environment

When The Most High planned what man would be (spirit) and how man would function (by faith), He also determined where man would live (his ideal environment). The Most High didn’t take the man and put him just anywhere on earth. The Most High chose a specific spot on this big planet and put the man in that specially chosen place, which we know as Eden. Now let’s try to figure out what Eden is.

The root in Hebrew of the word Eden is uncertain. The Greek version of the Old Testament, the Septuagint, relates the word to the Hebrew verb eden or ayden, which means “delight” (Strong’s, H5731, H5730). Therefore, Eden is translated as the garden of delight. Other occurrences of the word Eden in the Old Testament equate Eden with the garden of the Lord.

The Lord will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; He will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of singing (Isaiah 51:3).

You were in Eden, the garden of The Most High (Ezekiel 28:13).

This seems to concur with the Genesis description of the garden as the place where The Most High walked in the cool of the day (see Gen. 3:8).

Thus, The Most High prepared a garden for man, an environment where it was pleasant and where His presence touched earth. This is why the Bible never says that Adam planted the garden. Rather, The Most High was the One who planted the garden. That is, The Most High came and impressed (planted) His presence in the earth.

Can you get a picture of this? Eden was the one place where The Most High’s presence dwelt on earth. It was the garden of His presence, the spot of His pleasantness, and that was precisely where The Most High placed Adam. Unbroken fellowship between The Most High and man was the environment that The Most High planned for man.

This means that you don’t need church services, choirs, worship services, and meetings to succeed in life. There were none of these in Eden. Neither were there prophets, teachers, preachers, or apostles. Your ideal environment is nothing more and nothing less than the presence of The Most High Himself, which was The Most High’s first gift to Adam.

The Most High’s PRESENCE IS YOUR IDEAL ENVIRONMENT.

His presence in your house is the most beautiful presence in the world. You don’t need a husband or a wife to succeed. You need the presence of The Most High. Consequently, The Most High gave Adam Himself before He gave him a woman. The first presence you need is The Most High friend, not a boyfriend or a girlfriend. If you get a boyfriend or girlfriend, a husband or a wife, outside of The Most High’s presence, you have created a state of malfunction for yourself.

Why is this true? Everything that is not in its ideal environment malfunctions. This is inevitable. No person or product can function properly outside the environment specifically designed for it by its manufacturer. So just as fish have to stay in water and plants have to stay in the ground if they are to flourish, so man must stay in The Most High’s presence. Any fish that removes itself from water or is removed by another creature will eventually die and rot. The same is true of a plant. No plant can continue to live and bear fruit if its roots are not covered and nourished by the ground. In truth, a plant starts to die the instant its roots are removed from the ground, and its death is certain unless its roots are returned to the soil that is its source and ideal environment. Likewise, man’s life and the fulfillment of his destiny are possible only to the extent that he walks and talks with The Most High in the garden of His presence.
Man’s Fall From The Most High’s Presence

Sadly, what The Most High intended and the reality of man’s situation today are quite different. The reason for this difference is man’s choice to throw off what he perceived to be the restrictive principles of The Most High’s design. The fall of man, as man’s choice to sin is often called, is really a fall from The Most High’s presence, with the accompanying loss of the Holy Spirit. Since The Most High created man to live in relationship with Him, and sin caused a breach in that relationship, man’s opportunity to live in The Most High’s presence ended. The Book of Genesis describes it this way:

So the Lord The Most High banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After He drove the man out, He placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life (Genesis 3:23-24).

Since, as we previously noted, the word Eden in the Scriptures means the place of The Most High’s presence, man’s banishment from Eden meant banishment from The Most High’s presence. The creature The Most High had created to live in His presence was condemned to live apart from the One who was essential to His well-being. Human history shows the consequences of that separation, consequences that were built into The Most High’s principles for man’s life.

Now we have to work hard to get into The Most High’s presence; but that was not what The Most High intended for the human beings He had created. We were supposed to wake up every morning and go walking in the cool of the day with The Most High. We weren’t supposed to have to work ourselves up with singing, instruments, and worship calisthenics to get us into the right mood or frame of mind for worship. The Most High’s intent was that we would wake up in His presence, go to sleep in His presence, work in His presence, talk in His presence, go fishing in His presence, eat in His presence, cry in His presence, laugh in His presence, dance in His presence, and on and on. Every part of our life was to be done within the presence of The Most High.

Oh, how we’ve fallen. What was once our The Most High-given privilege is now denied us by The Most High Himself. For when The Most High sent the man and the woman away from Eden, from the place or moment of His presence, He also set cherubim at the entrance to the garden to be sure that mankind would not return to the environment that had been his home before his sin.

Why would The Most High, who loves man and who created him to live in fellowship with Him, do this? Why would He banish man from His presence and ensure that he could not return? Might it be that the presence of The Most High was so important The Most High would not allow it to be contaminated by man’s sin? Might it be that man could no longer endure the presence of The Most High because he had lost the Holy Spirit, that which enabled him to communicate with The Most High and to enjoy fellowship with Him?
The Most High Is Holy
The Scriptures clearly state that The Most High is holy, which means that The Most High is completely pure in motive and perfect in goodness, righteousness, and justice.

Exalt the Lord our Most High and worship at His holy mountain, for the Lord our Most High is holy (Psalm 99:9).

The Lord Almighty is the One you are to regard as holy, He is the One you are to fear (Isaiah 8:13).

For your Maker is your husband—the Lord Almighty is His name—the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; He is called The Most High of all the earth (Isaiah 54:5).

But the Lord Almighty will be exalted by His justice, and the holy The Most High will show Himself holy by His righteousness (Isaiah 5:16).

Not only is The Most High holy, He is “most” holy in that no other god, person, or thing is as holy as He is, and His presence is holy as well (see 1 Sam. 2:2 and Isa. 40:25). Moses encountered the holiness of The Most High when he approached the burning bush and The Most High spoke to him from within the bush.

“Do not come any closer,” The Most High said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground” (Exodus 3:5).

Years later Joshua had a similar experience.

Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a Man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in His hand. Joshua went up to Him and asked, “Are You for us or for our enemies?” Neither,” He replied, “but as Commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked Him, “What message does my Lord have for His servant?” The commander of the Lord’s army replied, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so (Joshua 5:13-15).

It would seem, then, that Adam became a foreign body, a contaminant, a cancer, if you will, to the presence of The Most High at the time of his fall. Having lost the Holy Spirit, Adam no longer reflected the holiness of The Most High that was his birthright when he was created in The Most High’s image. Now Adam’s sin made him an affront to the holiness of The Most High. The Most High responded by sending him out from the garden of His presence and by placing cherubim at the entrance of the garden to protect His presence from sinful man.
Protectors of The Most High’s Presence

Cherubim are winged angels that are guardians of the Lord’s presence. This role is seen not only in the cherubim’s station at the entrance to Eden, but also in their presence near the throne of The Most High.

Hear us, O Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine forth (Psalm 80:1).

The Lord reigns, let the nations tremble; He sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake (Psalm 99:1).

O Lord Almighty, The Most High of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, You alone are The Most High over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth (Isaiah 37:16).

This position of protecting the presence of the Lord was particularly evident in the design of the Ark of the Covenant, where the cherubim, with outspread wings, guarded the Mercy Seat where The Most High dwelt on top of the Ark. So when the priests went in to the Most Holy Place, the cherubim were the first beings the priests saw. Before they could get to The Most High, they had to get past the cherubim. Anything or anyone contaminated by sin that approached The Most High’s presence would never get past the cherubim because sinful things and people could not enter The Most High’s presence lest they be consumed by Him.

The prophet Ezekiel describes the cherubim as having four wings and four faces, and they were covered with eyes:

And within it there were figures resembling four living beings. And this was their appearance: they had human form. Each of them had four faces and four wings. And their legs were straight and their feet were like a calf’s hoof, and they gleamed like burnished bronze. Under their wings on their four sides were human hands. As for the faces and wings of the four of them, their wings touched one another; their faces did not turn when they moved, each went straight forward. As for the form of their faces, each had the face of a man, all four had the face of a lion on the right and the face of a bull on the left, and all four had the face of an eagle. Such were their faces. Their wings were spread out above; each had two touching another being, and two covering their bodies (Ezekiel 1:5-11 NASB).

Their entire bodies, including their backs, their hands and their wings, were completely full of eyes …. Each of the cherubim had four faces: One face was that of a cherub, the second the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle (Ezekiel 10:12-14).

The task of guarding the presence of The Most High is also evidently shared by another group of winged angels called seraphim. Isaiah saw these angels when he received his call to be a prophet:

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above Him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory.” At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for” (Isaiah 6:1-7).

We see here that the seraphim not only protected the holiness of The Most High; they also met Isaiah’s need when he recognized his sinfulness in the presence of a holy, The Most High. Thus, their role was both to protect The Most High’s presence and to preserve man when he recognized his sinfulness and repented.

Please note that these angels, or living creatures or beings, as they are often called, didn’t protect man from The Most High; they protected The Most High’s presence from man. Their task was to prevent man from getting into The Most High’s presence—his intended environment and therefore the place where he functions properly, despite his sin and his loss of holiness. For you see, man despite his sin is still made in the image of The Most High. His sinful behavior has not changed his basic makeup. What has changed is man’s ability to act like The Most High acts.

This is true because man lost the Holy Spirit when he sinned and therefore no longer has the capacity to function from the spiritual and moral character of The Most High. In other words, man is still spirit just like The Most High is Spirit, but he is no longer truth and righteousness, as The Most High is (see Ps. 31:5; 45:4). This is why David, after his sin with Bathsheba, sought The Most High with these words,

Create in me a pure heart, O The Most High, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from Your presence or take Your Holy Spirit from me (Psalm 51:10-11).

David knew that his heart and spirit were not right with The Most High because of his sin, and that The Most High had every right to withdraw His presence from David’s life.

Characteristics of Principles

Since a satisfying relationship with The Most High, each other, and the rest of The Most High’s creation is predicated on our obeying His principles in creation, let’s look now at some of the characteristics or properties of principles. Understanding these properties can help us to understand how principles function in our life.

Principles are permanent. When The Most High created human beings, He created them to breathe oxygen. Although many years have passed since The Most High first formed man from the dust of the earth, and man has found many ways to “better” his life experience, man still needs oxygen to survive. In essence, any environment where oxygen is absent is deadly to man.

Principles never change; they remain constant. In the English system of measurement, a yard has been determined to equal 36 inches. Now, you may create a stick that measures 35 inches long and call it a “yardstick,” but this in no way changes the principle that a yard is a unit of measurement equal in length to the sum of 36 inches. In essence, a stick 35 inches in length is not equal to a yard no matter what you call it, because a yard, by the principle of its definition, contains 36 inches. In a similar manner, modifications by our society to The Most High’s standards of conduct do not change The Most High’s law. The Most High’s law is constant, even as He is constant (see Num. 23:19).

Principles work anywhere. One of the laws of nature is that water freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit (or 0 degrees Celsius). It doesn’t matter whether you freeze water at the north pole or at the equator, water cooled to 32 degrees F (assuming the water is not contaminated with other substances that skew the water’s freezing point) will turn to ice. In the same manner, we can expect that The Most High’s laws apply to us no matter where or when we live. His principles are applicable in all times, cultures, and geographic locations.

Principles protect the product. This characteristic of principles can be illustrated by the care labels that many clothing manufacturers sew into their garments at the collar or a side seam. These specifications by the manufacturer regarding the garment’s care may include requirements concerning water temperature for washing, line drying versus the use of a clothes dryer, and washing in water versus dry cleaning. The manufacturer provides these instructions to protect the clothing from possible harm that could result in shrinkage of the fabric, color loss, premature breakdown of the fibers, or other damage. The Most High’s laws are also intended to protect us from harm. Although they may at times appear to limit our choices, these limitations are always given by The Most High to protect our freedom and well-being.

Principles can never be broken. The laws of gravity state that the mass of the earth, the moon, or another planet will exert a certain pull on objects at or near its surface. This pull will draw the objects toward it. With the invention of airplanes, helicopters, and other modes of air transportation, one might say that the laws of gravity have been broken. Such a statement can never be true because a principle of creation cannot be broken. What can happen is that man devises various means to combat or redirect the forces of gravity. Then, although the principle of gravity is not evident in a particular event or circumstance, the principle itself—that is, the rule that objects at or near the earth’s surface are pulled toward the earth if they are not in some manner prevented from doing so—still holds true.

Principles, when violated, produce destruction. What seems right to you for the use of a product is not necessarily in agreement with what the manufacturer of a product intended. For example, when you buy an iron, the box it comes in contains a little booklet that lists the commandments or laws of the manufacturer concerning its function. These are often called the operating instructions. They tell you how to use the iron so you get the maximum performance from it.

Now you could take that iron, plug it into the wall, and put it into the bathtub with you to heat up the water. Since an iron is supposed to get hot, that way may seem right to you: “The iron is hot and the water is cold, so I’ll just put the iron into the water to make it warm.” Guess what? There’s a way that seems right unto man, but the end of it is a shocking experience! Both you and the iron will suffer damage because of your choice to violate the iron’s operating instructions (principles).




Principles contain inherent judgment. This last characteristic of principles is particularly important. For example, the principle of fire is heat. When you put your hand in fire, you can expect to get burned because fire produces heat. In other words, you don’t get burned because The Most High burns you or the devil burns you. You get burned because heat is a principle of fire. In essence, the judgment—the burn—is inherent in the principle.

Thus, much of what we call “acts of The Most High” are simply judgments that are inherent in The Most High’s principles of creation. For example, The Most High has killed no man. Rather, “the wages [natural result] of sin is death” (Rom. 6:23a). When you play around with sin and start flirting with things you shouldn’t be doing, you don’t have to worry whether someone will find you out, because your own activities will tell on you. Why is this true? Sin contains an inherent judgment. When you violate The Most High’s principle, the principle itself contains your discipline or punishment.





The Most High’s Use of Principles

The verses previously quoted from Psalms 19 and 119 also clearly reveal the necessity of understanding and obeying The Most High’s principles of creation. This is true because only the manufacturer of a product knows what factors are necessary to obtain the maximum operation of the product. In essence, you can’t use a product according to your own ideas and expect it to fulfill what the manufacturer promised it could and would do. If you want a product to work, doing all that the manufacturer said it would do, you have to obey the principles (laws, commandments, instructions, etc.) of the one who designed and made the product.

The Most High’s demands of us are always based on His principles, because He knows we cannot fulfill our purpose and enjoy fulfillment in life unless we operate within the parameters (principles) He has set for us. The effects of His laws cannot be avoided because they are inherent to the law. Therefore, our relationship with The Most High, both our perception of Him and His response to us, is based on how we respond to the principles He has established throughout creation. He is not capricious in His responses to us, but rather is “faithful and just” (see Ps. 111:7 and 1 John 1:9).

We may prefer lawlessness, which is the freedom to do whatever we want to do, but our very creation by The Most High, our Manufacturer and Source, requires that we follow His principles. Should we choose lawlessness—doing what we want, when we want, how we want—we can expect to reap the inevitable results, which include slavery, death, and the loss of privileges or freedom. This is precisely what happened to the man and the woman in the Garden of Eden.




Disregard for The Most High’s Principles Carries Consequences




When The Most High placed the man in Eden, He gave him some instructions that were to govern his life in the garden. One of these instructions concerned what he could and could not eat.

And the Lord The Most High commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die” (Genesis 2:16-17).

Please note that this command contains an inherent judgment. Death is the proscribed consequence for disobeying this principle. Thus, The Most High’s pronouncement to the man in Genesis 3:19, “By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return,” is nothing more than the logical consequence of man’s choice to disobey The Most High.

This physical death that will inevitably claim every person, whether in infancy or in old age, is not, however, the only death man suffered because of his disobedience. The more serious consequence of man’s disregard for The Most High’s principles for life in the garden was his loss of the Holy Spirit and his subsequent separation from The Most High. This spiritual death, as it may be called, is at the root of all the ills that plague us as individuals and as a society. In truth, man cannot and will not live up to the potential and purpose The Most High built into him until the love and intimacy The Most High and man enjoyed in the garden is restored. Because life in the presence of The Most High is man’s ideal environment, The Most High’s presence is also his greatest need. Man cannot truly live until the relationship between The Most High and man is restored.

4. Fulfillment of purpose requires obeying The Most High’s principles.

We don't know the laws so we come to life experimenting, guessing, hoping things work out. My real simple job for the rest of my life, the reason why I am doing what I do, the reason why you call me maybe a pastor or teacher is that I teach the laws. Every day I get up, I just teach laws. This is nothing about anointing and all that deep stuff, this is really about laws. You can have an anointed fool teaching foolishness. You got some good preachers who know nothing about the laws, then make you shout but in the end you didn’t learn anything. No laws but you've got a good sweat, you still broke, poor, depressed, frustrated, don't know how to succeed and you've been going there for 50 years. It's not the preaching that sets you free, it's the truth, it’s the laws that set you free.

Let’s talk about the law of nature. Law is essential to life, Law is necessary for all relationships and the concept of need is the concept of law. Need creates law. Your car needs gasoline, so there's a law established by the need. The fish need water so there's a law established by the need. The plant needs the soil so there's a law established by the need. You don't want The Most High, you need The Most High. That's why you come back to The Most High. People think that coming to The Most High is a religious experience or something. No it isn't. It is you, getting to your senses that's all. Without The Most High you can do what? Nothing! The Bible says without the water the fish can do nothing, without the soil the plant can do nothing, without The Most High you can do nothing he says. This is not a matter of choice, it's a matter of need. You don't want The Most High, fish don't want water. It’s a law. Plants need soil, fish need water, birds need the air and their freedom, trees need carbon dioxide. They don't want it. And humans need oxygen. Now the problem with this is, humans don't produce oxygen and they need it to live. So there's a law that the humans have to protect the trees. That's a law. Every time you kill a tree, you're threatening your own life. So this is why governments are actually finding people who are cutting the forests, because they are about to destroy human life on earth. So actually there are countries like Guyana or Brazil or Colombia where the

largest amount of trees exists in the world. They call it the Amazon forest. That is really an oxygen factory. So the United Nations is actually paying these countries not to cut the trees down. Isn’t that amazing? Maybe the Bahamas should start a new industry, tree planting. You can plant so many trees on these islands that they will pay you to keep the trees. Because the trees are the manufacturers of oxygen which we need. Law, in other words, law can bring you money if you understand the laws.

Challenging laws. Now when you challenge laws, you put yourself in a predicament. Humans are the only created beings that willfully, intentionally, violate natural and physical laws. We are the only creatures that do it. Fish never leave water, plants never leave the soil. They don't challenge the law. We are the only creatures The Most High created, that question the law, challenge it, violate, intentionally, and willfully walk away from it. We are amazing creatures. That's why there is global failure all over the world in every culture, every race, every ethnic group, people are failing by the billions, because they disobey laws intentionally. All other created things, submit to law, they obey natural law and spiritual law. Am I making sense? So let's talk about the law of humanity. First of all, The Most High created all things to live and function by law. But The Most High created mankind to live by natural and spiritual laws. That's why all humans must learn laws for relationships to be built properly. The reason why people fail is because they don't know the laws and therefore all relationships are products of law. How you relate to life depends on the laws so you are supposed to obey. Law is the key to success and prosperity. Do you ever wonder why The Most High told Joshua, if you obey my laws you will have good success? Do you know why? Because you can have bad success. He says he will make your way good and prosperous. Why? There is bad prosperity. A drug dealer has a lot of money but he can't sleep. Why? Because the brothers are trying to kill him! He got to stay up all night watching his money! This is not prosperity! This is torment!! Law is the key to success and relationships. Why? Because laws are predictable. Laws give you control over life. When you learn the laws, you can demand your own value! Your car breaks down, the mechanic knows the law and says $300. They don’t care if you want to argue. You want your car to work, I know laws says the mechanic, so it's $300. See when you know laws, you can demand your own value. Many of you may be thinking why didn't I hear this 25 years ago? Now let's look at laws versus strength. Sometimes a strong person is not smart. Let’s read what the Bible says in Joshua 1, the Most High told Joshua be strong and courageous, how? He says by keeping the laws! Your strength is proven by the laws you know and the laws you obey. A strong person, is the person who keeps law. I am not talking about ritual laws now, you know. I'm talking about the laws that The Most High built into life, that are inherent laws. The Ten Commandments are actually divine laws. You can't change them. I was thinking the other day, says Dr. Munroe, and The Most High said to not kill do not kill. That means anything that's alive could be killed, correct? You can kill a forest. Now why does the Most High say don't kill? Because when you kill you affect everything else. So these are divine laws--that protect life, that preserve life and make your way prosperous. Now I want to wrap this up with the difference between laws and rules. It is very important. True principles and laws are never broken, violation of law is impossible! You don't break laws!! That is number one. Number two, true principles and laws can never be violated! If you jump from a ten story building you didn't violate gravity, gravity violated you! When you jump off of a ten story building you didn't push yourself down--gravity pulled you down. Do you know the difference?? You didn't fall off of a ten story building. You were pulled down it! If gravity didn't exist you would have floated! You don't break laws. That's number three, true laws and principles break those who violate them. Number four, the Creator of true law does not have to impose judgment--these are important principles of violation of law. Number five, judgment is inherent in true law principles built into them. Number six true law and principles attract and activate their own benefits, I like this part and their judgment, I don't like that part. Can I say that one again? True laws and principles attract and activate their own benefits or judgment. If you learn the laws of life, learn the laws of creation learn the laws of spirituality if you learn them and you obey them they attract benefits. If you keep my law, Joshua you will make your way prosperous! That means you cannot fail. Failure and success is not up to the Most High. The Most High’s finished, He's created the whole thing, He put it in motion. When you know laws they cancel fear. Now you can see why laws are so important and we teach the Laws of Success. Law is the foundation, again I repeat, inherent in creation. It is the glue that holds the universe. It holds everything together. Everything exists by law, everything exists for law and without law there is no success! Now why is law so important I want you to get this, because right now there's some people preaching around the world about grace. I'm not against grace but I'm against the teaching that grace cancels law, be very careful. If you overdose on grace, you start abusing law. Overdose on grace and success runs from you. You overdose on grace and you use grace to break law--grace doesn't cancel law grace, positions you to keep the law. Let me prove it, the first statement of Yeshua HaMachiach on earth when he spoke about law is:
Matthew 5:17-19 (KJV) 17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Now the last part, says Dr. Munroe, was about me--but whoever practices and teaches these

Commandments will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. And he certainly was a great man! Are you great? Yes because you are learning about how important laws are, you teach others right, Fiveamprayer?? You become great because Yeshua said so! I'm great, not only am

I great in the kingdom of the Most High, because I teach you to keep law not to keep grace! Grace forgives you so you could keep laws again! Laws and traditions are different. Traditions can give you failure. Most people fail because of tradition, if you're going to be successful you have to break tradition. Somehow we've made tradition and law the same, they are not. Let's read Matthew chapter 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. That word righteousness means to be aligned with the Most High’s laws.

So He's talking about the difference between tradition and laws. You don’t believe me let’s look at the next verse. Matthew 15:2 (KJV) Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

Look at their concern of following the traditions of the elders over what the Most High has spoken, the law. I guarantee you with all my strength, says Dr. Munroe, that man has designed your failure! I don't trust no law of man this is very important. They said why do your disciples

break the rules and traditions of the elders, they don't wash their hands before they eat, sound familiar? Yeshua replied to them why do you break the laws of The Most High in place of your traditions or your rules?? Help us the Most High! The difference between law versus rule. Remember this all your life! What is law versus rules? Number one a general rule or principle that is thought to be true or held to be binding, the world calls that law. Number two, in the world, let's say that a statement of a scientific fact or phenomenon that is invariable under given conditions they call that law and that's not necessarily true because The Most High violated many facts walking on water--violated scientific fact opening the Red Sea the Most High violated the natural facts. Number three they say laws, our principles set out in the Bible especially the Pentateuch which is the first five books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.



They also say that that laws are a rule or conduct or procedure recognized by a community as binding or enforceable by authority. For example, in America some years ago they made a rule that black people were only 2/3 humans that means they were half animals that was a law in America, right? So they expected the procedure to follow that means a black man could never be treated like an equal human to anyone else so he was sold like you sell animals it's called slavery. Why? Because there was a rule that produced that conduct, watch this, and it was accepted by the community. So the white community in America accepted the rule that black people were not humans they were just partially animals. So to sell them and to treat them like that--to beat them and to burn them and to brand them with a hot iron was just like branding a cow. After all the rule is accepted by the community, that they ain't a real human so the whole concept was based on a rule created by the community and it was binding and enforceable by authority. That means authority gave you the right to buy a slave, to beat a slave, to brand the slave and to sell a slave. The community made that enforceable, that is how dangerous a rule is. Now what happened to that rule? Well there were other people who rose up and says that they are against the rule, why because there's another law, which says that all humans are equal, made in The Most High's image. So they had to find another law, they got that law from where? Genesis, right, so they say we found a divine law that says all humans are equal so the law became more important than the rule. This is why, says Dr. Munroe, I don't trust the rules of men! You can see why, the rules of men are designed to make sure you fail and to keep you from prosperity and success. The last one is the most frightening one. They say laws are an act or laws passed by legislature or a similar body, this is dangerous! I am going to say that again, a law is an act passed by legislature or a similar body like Congress. Now that's dangerous, they are making laws today, I call them rules, says Dr. Munroe, I don't call them laws. The Bible calls them rules and tradition. They are trying to make it a tradition that two men can get married, for example, they try to make it a tradition so that they can become acceptable by the community. Remember, the community now is the problem and they want to enforce it by authority, you have to marry two men if they come to you. Why? By law they say. There is a problem in some countries where if two women come to get married, you got to marry them. Why? The authorities have to enforce it. Why? Because legislature says it is a rule, which they call a law. Now, problem--they made a human law but natural law disagrees--the two men can’t have children. So you're human law cannot stop natural law or divine law. That's why we teach in this ministry the divine laws, read the Bible to get laws not just to get devotions! Read the Bible to learn the principles not just to learn verses! You want to go after the laws, show me the laws David said you teach me your laws I will not fail they'll preserve me. So act on what you heard!! Amen, amen, amen and amen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The key to life is order. Order comes from law. The source of law brings order. When you obey laws, you bring order to your life. The ultimate law therefore of life is law--because there's nothing more important than law. What does law do? Laws protect, sustain, preserve, they guard and they promote life. If you obey laws they will protect you, they will guard you, they will preserve you, they will sustain you and in the end they'll promote you. If you always do what is right I guarantee, you will emerge to the top eventually. People who take shortcuts, people who sell drugs become richer, people who sell their bodies to pay their bills or people who compromise in their jobs to get ahead--don't worry about that. Don't be jealous because of them! They will fail, because you cannot break a law. Laws break you. Without law, there's no definition in life. Laws define things. You put a seed on a tile floor and leave it there for 20 years, the seed will stay there and no tree will come forth. Why? Because you violated the law of the seed. So the laws defines what the seed must do. You must put it in soil, you must give it moisture, there must be light or sunshine otherwise the seed will never bring forth a tree. So you can pray over a seed for 20 years in the lobby on the tile floor, you pray, speaking in tongues, quoting scripture over that thing, casting out demons will not bring that tree out of that seed. Because laws cannot be substituted by prayer!

Prosperity doesn't come by prayer. The Most High says, “if you obey my laws and keep them meditate on them you will make your way prosperous”--Joshua 1:8

Prosperity doesn't come by prayer, it comes by keeping laws. The longest way to success is a shortcut--shortcuts means you violate laws. The Bible calls this trespassing. You know if you cut across somebody's yard instead of going around the main road, you call it a shortcut, don't you? But what are you doing?? Trespassing. Yeshua says forgive us our trespasses. Forgive us from trying to make life quick without going through the process of law. Forgive us for trying to use get rich quick schemes--that's why people get into problems with business. People offer a get-rich-quick scheme--you know, sell this or do that. That’s why gambling is really demonic not because you can't gamble but because gambling encourages shortcuts. A person that gambles. I guarantee you, they will always be poor. Even if they win once, they can be poor. Don't violate the law.

Now I want to show you the difference between natural law and super natural laws. Number one: Natural law is inherent in creation. That means is built into creation. Number two: Natural law establishes natural order. Number three: Natural law regulates natural relationship. Notice the word natural in the word nature. Natural law cannot be changed. Natural law has built in consequences. In other words, natural law doesn't need The Most High to punish you when you violate it. For example gravity is a natural law. If you jump off of a 10-story building The Most High doesn't need to kill you. Why? Because the consequences of breaking the law is built into the law. Can I suggest to you that The Most High really doesn't judge you. The laws he established judges you. Natural law has built-in consequences. Next natural law has inherent judgment. Again it tells us it’s predictable. If you keep smoking cigarettes, we don't need to wonder what happens to your lungs. If you keep drinking alcohol, we can predict what happens to your liver. There's no question about that. Your liver is given to you to purify the blood in your body. If your body's filled with alcohol, that you drink, the liver takes it out of the blood and keeps it. The alcohol burns the cells in the liver because of acidity and it becomes fried. It is called cirrhosis of the liver. Now you end up with a fried liver that cannot purify your blood anymore and the liver poisons you. The thing that is supposed to keep you pure becomes your poison. Why? Because the liver was never designed to extract alcohol. So you broke a law. There is built-in judgment. The Most High has never killed a smoker. The Most High has never killed an alcoholic. The Most High has never killed a drug addict. Never!! The Most High never makes you poor. You mismanage funds, buy things you can't afford, buy things you don't need, it’s a law with built in judgement.

Spiritual laws are very important. I just gave you natural laws. Spiritual laws number one are established by The Most High the Creator. In other words natural law and spiritual law have nothing to do with you. They are established by the Creator. You didn't create gravity. The Most High's wonderful design of the universe created gravity. Secondly spiritual law establishes your conscience. There is a law in your body called the conscience. It is in your mind. No one has to tell you when you're doing wrong. There's a law in your body that tells you, when you ate too much. You know when you ate something that ain't good for you. The person who's smoking cigarettes knows the cigarette is bad. Their conscience tells them this is bad. But the habit controls them. Your conscience is a natural spiritual law. Number three spiritual laws are inherent in the human spirit. All of us know sin. Even the guy who doesn't know The Most High knows when he's breaking the law. There are laws built into our spirit being. Number four, spiritual laws regulate supernatural relationships.

For you to relate to The Most High you have to obey some spiritual laws. First submission. You have to submit to The Most High. The Most High can't help you if you won’t submit. Number two, you have to confess that you don't know nothing. That's a spiritual law. If you come to The Most High as if you know everything, then why do you need The Most High? That is a law. A law of submission is not just of your body but your mind and your intelligence. The last one, spiritual law is built-in consequences. The wages of sin is death. So when your forefather Adam sinned, The Most High didn't put death on him, death was built into the law. Let me quote The Most High's Word. The Most High says the day you eat this fruit you will surely die. He didn't say the day you eat this fruit, I will kill you. The dying was in the act of eating the fruit. In other words, disobedience has its own built-in consequences. The Most High doesn’t need to judge us. So that's how powerful laws are. Laws are so powerful they have their own inherent judgment. You may think for example you getting away with some private things, The Most High doesn't know about. The Most High knows everything. He sees what you're doing when no one's watching and The Most High has given you some opportunity to solve this thing up because eventually it's going to destroy you. And if you are having an affair with sin, flirting with sin privately, and secretly, The Most High don't worry about you. The Most High won’t even judge you. It's built into the act. Laws are inherent.



Now the reason why I showed you that is because I want you to see the difference between the laws and rules. There is a difference between the two and it affects your success. Law is the inherent principles that regulate nature of life and relationships in The Most High's creation. I'm giving you the definition of law. Law defined is inherent principles. That means the built-in principles. They regulate the nature of life and relationships within creation. For example the tree relates to the soil because of a law. They have a relationship. If the tree breaks relationship with the soil no one has to kill it, the judgment is built in it. The fish must relate to the water. They have got to get along really well. If the fish decides, I don't like you anymore water, you don't need to kill the fish. The Most High never killed Adam. How does it look? Your relationship with me depends on you not touching that tree. I'm not going to kill you but if you violate that tree, that means the commandment of The Most High. It is not a tree, it's the fact that told them not to touch it. It’s in the law. He says I don't need to kill you, you will die. When a fish leaves water you never kill it, it dies. When a plant leaves soil you don't kill it, it dies. When a man leaves The Most High you don't kill him he dies. Is that clear? So the relationship is determined by the laws. How many of you drink gasoline? Nobody? Oh come on. You mean you actually go to a station every other week to buy this stuff, spend your money and you don't like it? You actually do something you don't like? Yes! The question is, why? See, you should do many things you don't like because in order for you to get something to function, you want your car to function, you need to keep that relationship with the gas station. So there's a law. The law says cars need gasoline and the station has it so you have to develop a relationship with the station. Constantly for the rest of your car's life. If you decide one day I will never go back to the gas station, your car says and I never drive anymore. So laws create relationship. Number two, laws are both natural and supernatural, both physical and spiritual to guarantee maximum fulfilling of purpose and potential. In other words, The Most High created all the laws to work in your favor.
