Fiveamprayer this weekend mediation is one that you will need to review over and over again!  Any time we are studying a scripture that we think that we know we have the tendency to not pay close attention.  Sit up and wake up!  Focus on this chapter of John 8 but the difference this time in hearing it we are seeking to place all elements back into the Hebraic setting of lifestyle and principles.  The best way to do that is to find where does this theme or situation first occur?  Numbers 5 gives us instructions for a man who has a spirit of jealousy about his wife being faithful.  This seems new to many if not most of us due to our current church age that the Torah is wholly divorced from the Brit Chadasha.  Yet Yeshua clearly says that He came not to abolish the law!  Many of His teachings can be traced back to the Torah as well as His actions.  Yet so many will continue to stand blindly on the statement, that we are no longer under the law, Jesus is the end of the law.  How foolish that statement is when reading the entire word of Yahweh in His original intention and Hebraic mindset!
So let's take a look at the scene:  a women caught in the act of adultery is brought before Yeshua among a group of men who are her accusers.  First off let's dispel a few things up front.  This woman was not snatched from a bed or any other place half-dressed to face judgement.  The one whom she was with is never presented.  Deuteronomy 17:5-6 5 Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die. 6 At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.  These men who come to Yeshua to find what He would determine is the way to proceed.  They knew the Torah, yet this scene does not compare to Numbers 5, so what is the point?  According to Deuteronomy both the man and the woman would be subject to being stoned if there were 2 to 3 witnesses that can confirm that the unlawful sexual acts of Leviticus 18 are committed they would have been charged with death.  Yet we have in Numbers that the husband would bring his wife before the priest to find if she had been unfaithful for in chapter 5--here it is only suspected.
Who else is in this scene besides Yeshua and the accused woman?  The men who stand as accusers and they also would test Yeshua in His knowledge of the law and would He presume to confess openly that He is Yahweh in the flesh.  Both potential charges at that time could lead to being put to death for assuming heavenly power that is His alone and blaspheme the Most Holy One!  These apparent false witness of both Yeshua and the woman are treading on thin ice for being ones who know the word of Yahweh and the law of Moses but not actually living them out.  Yeshua does not have much to say to the accusers but being the word made flesh, operated as the word.  His stooping to write in the dirt would have pointed to Numbers 5, also using His finger to write refers to the outstretched finger and authority of Yahweh.
So when Yeshua says let him without sin throw the first stone, means that we are not to judge for all have sinned? Let's look more to the accusers, one is actually her husband, who would not give her a divorce.  In this time there where men who not divorce their wives but did put them out of the house.  Under this situation of 'still being married' she was not to speak to another man in public.  This is where she is 'caught red-handed'!  So tear down the image of a half dressed people in a bedroom setting--this was on the open street!! Speaking fully clothed, yet do to the harshness of his heart would leave her in limbo, not able to remarry and not actually in a marriage except on paper.  If this happened the other wise men or elders of the community were to talk to him, to release her with a certificate of divorce or get. This would free them both to lawfully remarry.  This review would also curb the divorces from being set up for the minor offense of burning food.  Yeshua knowing the status of the woman is the key to His actions for that is His ultimate response.  Being well studied, yet unpracticed-- the accusers leave one by one, the oldest first.
This is the danger of reading and studying the Brit Chadasha or New Testament void of Torah understanding! How many sermons have been taught and heard that never revealed this?  This is not to impress others with your ability to study but show what is lacking when we only have a surface review--in a vacuum called the New Testament.  In taking the Bible as a whole book and seeking to find where else this occurs and reading if from the front to the back with a Hebraic mindset--keeps it all intact and shows the holes that are left when we cease from the entirety of His word!  To hear this again click here!
