Gaining Understanding Is The Pursuit Of The Wise!!!!

Proverb 4

We are walking in today:  Gaining Understanding Is The Pursuit Of The Wise!!!!

Witness follow  throughout the Bible:  H7291 radaph--to follow, follow after, pursue, attend closely upon, pursue ardently, aim eagerly to secure

Isaiah 1:23 Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

Torah:  Genesis 44:4; Exodus 14:4; Deuteronomy 16:20
Prophets:  2 Samuel 2:19; Isaiah 5:11, 51:1; Hosea 2:7, 6:3
Writings:  Judges 3:28; 2 Kings 5:21; Psalm 23:6, 38:20; Proverbs 12:11, 15:9, 21:21

Amos 7:15 And the Lord took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy

unto my people Israel.

Proverb 4:7  Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

Many times we encounter people with a greater knowledge than ourselves, but how many times have you have met one’s whom all they have is a bunch of knowledge? No application of knowledge which is understanding. A head full of knowledge but no common sense.
The scriptures speak of certain individuals many times over.

2 Timothy 3:1-7 1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.  2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3  Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,  4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;  5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.  6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,  7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Hebrews 5:12  For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

Where Is The Place of Understanding?

One of the oldest books of the Bible records the search for understanding. It was the man, Job, who asked:

“But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?” (Job 28:12)

Job wanted to find that place where he could understand the struggles and unlock the confusion he faced.

An important clue for gaining understanding is to know ‘the place’ of understanding:

God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God. (Psalms 53:2)

There is a secret here, in the above Scripture. Understanding is associated with seeking God!
When seeking out someone we begin to open our own thoughts to whatever it is one is conveying Instead of our own interpretation. In the same manor seeking to understand the Most High's will is. Knowing the scriptures should cause us to seek the meaning Abba is saying on a matter instead of reading a passage and slapping our own thoughts on it. The scriptures teaches us to establish a thing by 2 or 3 witnesses. In turn we begin to understand scriptures as we seek out more scriptures that interpret the same. Turning our hearts to God and seeking Him makes something good happen!! Most importantly, what happens is that we gain in our understanding. King Solomon, in Proverbs 2:3-4, tells us that if we want understanding we must seek for it, we must search for it. In humility, we must cry out for it, lift up our voice for it who is the source!

For Elohim [the Most High] giveth wisdom: out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. (Proverbs 2:6)

Understanding Comes From Doing, or Obeying, Abba’s Words

If any man will do His will [God’s will], he shall know of [understand] the teaching, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. (John 7:17)

As we see in this verse, when we become a DO-er of God’s Word [not just a hearer], then we begin to know and understand the Most High’s ways for us! We will begin to know, understand, His ways for us, not only in the little circle of our day-in and day-out happenings, but also in the bigger picture of life. Just as in the natural repeating the process of knowing a thing brings you understanding of it and its process, so in the spiritual.

The Reward For Seeking The Most High
When we begin to seek the Heavenly Abba, we will begin to see the rewards of understanding:

Evil men understand not judgment: but they that SEEK the Most High  [the LORD] understand all things. (Proverbs 28:5)

The fear of the Adonai [the Most High] is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy IS understanding. (Proverbs 9:10)

Seeking God, obeying Him, and learning about Him from His Word, will increase our knowledge of Him, and thus our understanding. If we will study His Words [the Bible], asking His help to understand His ways then, as we wait patiently on Him, Father will increase our understanding! The more we know about Elohim [the Most High], who is holy (Psalms 99:9), the more our understanding enlarges in every way because — the knowledge of Him IS understanding! Do you see that?

The entrance of Your Words gives light; it gives understanding unto the simple. (Psalms 119:130)

The Major Key in Gaining Understanding:

And unto man, He (God) said, Behold, the fear of the Most High, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding. (Job 28:28)

… that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth. (Daniel 9:13)

These verses teach us two things:

1. to depart from evil is understanding!

2. to turn from our iniquities will result in understanding!

Anything that separates us from God, and defiles our conscience is evil. No matter how small it is, even if it be a small, hidden dishonesty or a spiteful remark, these little things are what Yahushua described as evil thoughts: Anytime we depart from evil [whether big or little], then we unlock the confusion and understanding comes! When we can depart from evil in anyway, then we will be part of that class of people considered by the Most High to be wise. Understanding comes every time we make the choice to depart from evil — every time we turn away from our iniquities!
Whenever the Most High gives us understanding, sometimes it comes like a slow, trickling stream. Then sometimes, it comes like a waterfall. Either way, we gain in confidence, maturity, and wisdom — and understanding!

The Book of Proverbs clearly reveals that a fool will scorn or laugh at such instruction (Proverbs 1:7, 22, 29). But this is  the key!
The Key to Gaining Understanding is — to Depart From Evil.

For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: these are the things which defile a man (Matthew 15:19-20)

The Fool

A fool hath no delight in understanding…. (Proverbs 18:2)

El Elyon declares … “For my people are foolish; they know me not; they are stupid children; they have no understanding. They are ‘wise’ in doing evil! But how to do good, they know not.” (Jeremiah 4:22)

It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom. (Proverbs 10:23)

It is the fool who avoids understanding, avoids responsibility, and resists knowing the Most High. It is a dangerous thing for us to resist  the Most High, and to continue practicing evil (Psalms 34:16).

It is the fool who continues to love foolishness, who continues on in mischievousness [behaving recklessly, with ill-will]: It is abomination to fools to depart from evil! (Proverbs 13:19)

The Wise Will Seek To Get Understanding

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. (Proverbs 4:7)
