The
Shemittah Year--Every 7th year the land was to rest. It was not to be
worked nor plowed. All the people in the land were to eat of what the
earth produced by His hand. They were not to go out and collect up
food, but what the amount for a meal. This appointed time by Yahweh was
to show the people who is their provision. This also blotted out the
foreign gods from the peoples minds. Only our Creator can and does give
produce to the land and water to give the increase in the crops. The
people were in a state of rejoicing due to the blessings and favor He is
pouring out on them in this season. Fiveamprayer, we are still in the
Feast of Tabernacles and 5775 began the shemittah year. Where is your
trust? The shemittah holds us to where we are--are we relying in our
own efforts? Who is over all and controls all? Rest in His awesome
presence, provision and care!
The
people of Israel were to come before Yahweh with offerings and we do
the same with thanksgiving and joy in our hearts for His provision and
protection in our trust and rest in Him. This year of allowing the land
to go fallow we are allowed more time to study His word. His provision
is so awesome that the land owner, the workers, the foreigner, the
widow, orphan and fatherless in the mist all eat from not their work but His provision alone! Amen and amen! To listen to this again click here.
