We are walking in today: Arm Yourself with the Helmet of Salvation.
Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. This is part of the armor of God. It's hard to deny the importance of a helmet--part of the armor of God. As described by the apostle Paul, it is the "helmet of salvation." What purpose did the Roman helmet serve? And more importantly, what does it have to do with salvation? In Ephesians 6, Paul talks about the helmet of salvation as part of the armor of God, what exactly does the bible mean by salvation, and why is it portrayed as a helmet? Every time we hear about a fatal skateboarding accident, the reporter says that this death could have been avoided if a helmet was worn. A simple helmet would have saved a life. It's incredible to think that the absence or presence of a helmet can make so much of a difference that a skateboarding accident can prove fatal without one while being run over by a car can be survived with one. One of the pieces of our spiritual armor is the helmet of salvation, and, as we can see from this example, a helmet is not a piece of equipment to be underestimated. 1 Thessalonians 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. The next piece of armour is a helmet. Something to cover the head. The importance of the head does not need much convincing. A solider can survive a broken arm, but a broken head, depending on the severity of the wound, can be life threatening. By calling salvation a helmet we have a clear understanding of what salvation is to fiveamprayer. The hope of salvation is for the head. It covers our minds, intellect and reasoning. Isaiah 59:17 For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak. Come on fiveamprayer let's get our shield of faith and helmet of salvation to fight this battle!! Ezekiel 38:5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet. Arm yourself with the helmet of salvation!!!! Suite up, time to battle!!!! The helmet is a very important part of suiting up for battle. It is all in your mind, fiveamprayer--in your mindset!! You have got to cover your mind and guard what thoughts come into your mind.
We must cover our minds, casting down all imaginations that would
attempt to exalt itself against the knowledge of God. Keep walking in
this word. Put on your helmet of salvation, fiveamprayer. We know that
the devil is a liar, he is the father of all lies. Walk this one out,
fiveamprayer, carrying the shield of faith and fully suited up in God's
armor. The enemy is trying to disguise your season, trying to take over
your mind. Don't get distracted or off track!! The Greater One lives
on the inside of us! Tell the Lord, "I will keep trusting in You,
God." Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue
that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the
heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me,
saith the LORD. God has called us to run in this race, He has a
purpose for us, He has set us aside for His use. Fiveamprayer, cast
down every thought that comes against the word of God. Ephesians 6:13-14 13)
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to
withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14) Stand
therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the
breastplate of righteousness. We must stand at the ready to deflect
or cast off those foreign thoughts. We are kingdom citizens, and the
thoughts of the world are strange and foreign to us. If it is not of
the Lord, His word or by His Spirit, cast it away. There is no reason
to investigate further or entertain these lies!! Your mind is a
battlefield and we must be on constant guard, because the devil is on
constant attack. If the devil can get us in our minds he can really
bring us down--Ephesians 4:22-24 22) That ye put off concerning the
former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the
deceitful lusts; 23) And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24)
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in
righteousness and true holiness. You know what it is like when your mind is made up. Nobody
can tell you anything! Why do we not hold to His word in the same
fashion?! Let us set out minds like flint, unmoveable, in a fixed
position on the word--on fire for the Lord! Isaiah 50:7 For
the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded:
therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not
be ashamed. No more confusion or doubt--we are set and standing on
His word. This is why reading His word daily is so important!! We have
to wash off the errors of the world, that are just hanging out waiting
for us to pick them up and give them a try, in some cases to try them
again. Why would you keep trying something that has never yielded any
fruit?! Now when you trust in the Lord, stand believing and holding to
His word He shows up--even in the little things. That should give you
confidence that you are on the right path, and to cast off any other way
that is presented. Don't wrestle with other thoughts that are in
disagreement with the word. You say that your walk is difficult and
progress is slow, what are you dragging with you or not willing to let
go of?! Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed? 2 Corinthians 6:16 And
what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple
of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in
them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. So we
can see how our progress can be impeded if we will not cast off the
deceit of the devil. Hold to the eternal word of the Most High, take
His word back to Him. He will deliver on all of His promises!! Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. Set
your mind on the heavenly things and cast off the ways of the world!!
Fiveamprayer, cast off all of those thoughts that are out of
line--regarding your marriages, your children and your finances. He
gives us perfect peace, if we will just rest in Him!! Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Set down your thoughts and take up the thoughts of the Lord, that are
higher than our thoughts. God has already worked it all out and set up
provision of us! His grace is sufficient! Now is the time to encourage
yourself. Like David did, in 1 Samuel 30, when he was in a whirlwind
of an attack: in his emotions, against his house and city and even his
own men turned on him. David turned to the Lord. He is the only one
who can bring us out when it seems like all was going crazy--1 Samuel 30:6 And
David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him,
because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons
and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God. If you don't want to misplace your mind, set it in the Lord, on His word. He is a keeper of our minds. Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Stay focused on Him! Your mind may try to wander, bring it under God's authority--2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. We
must guard our thoughts, what you are thinking about will become what
you are talking about. We know that we can't just say anything. We
can't just think anything either!! What ever is on the inside will make
it's way outside. The devil is a liar, the Lord is doing a new thing!
Don't get into doubt because it doesn't look familiar, God has already
told your that He is doing a new thing. He is taking us a way that we
have not been before. It is like you expecting someone to give you a
mansion and that the mansion would be located on the streets that you
are already familiar with. Well how could that be unless you already
lived in that neighborhood? Why are you so worried that your are not
familiar with the area that God is putting you in? Didn't you want to
take new territory? Things that are new are not familiar to you. That
is why they are new!! God is doing a new thing, shall you not know it?
Besides the familiar places that your are in are the same places that
you are trying to escape and leave. God is not taking you up out of a
bad situation into a worse one!! He said He would never forsake us or
leave us. That would include bringing us up out of the miry clay and
establishing us--Psalm 40:2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
Fiveamprayer, we are established by God. Sounds like He is setting us
up to succeed in all areas. Why are we fearful? Get your mind under
His word, stop being out of control and following every thought that
enters your mind. Stay on constant guard, that is why we must be girded
up in the word and His armor!! Thank You Lord, You keep speaking to us
day after day. You are so patient with us, just feeding us more and
more of your word to build us up. This word that we receive daily will
begin to change our mindset. Like a high performance vehicle, you can't
just put any kind of oil and gasoline in. We must stop clutter and
gumming up our mind with just any old thing. Our minds have been
designed to receive and operate with precision on His word!! Hold to
His word, tell your flesh that you are not gonna faint. We are walking,
running and proceeding in the word that He has given us! Weeping may
endure for the night but joy comes in the morning! Thank You Lord!! We
seek Him early and He rewards those that diligently seek Him. Change
your mindset!! Have the mind of Christ, fiveamprayer! In every
situation, have no doubt or fear. The Lord has given us a sound mind.
We bind the spirit of fear and loose the spirit of power, love and sound
mind. We need a new mindset!! Put on the whole armor of God. We must
have a changed mindset, from the world to that of Christ. Turn it all
over to Him--it is He that orders our steps. Tell yourself today, "I am
not gonna do things the old way anymore!" We are pulling down
strongholds. Change your mind set. Romans 12:2 And be not
conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your
mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect,
will of God. We no longer operate the way that we used to. Amen,
amen! Say, "to God be the glory!" Arm yourself with the helmet of
salvation. You can't go around leaving your head uncovered!! Your mind
is a battlefield. We must lay aside every weight that would so easily
beset us. Cast down every imagination that would exalt itself against
the knowledge of God. Those out of order thoughts of defeat, that say
that it is over--God says when it is over. This is our year of
abundance!! Change your mindset!! Is your mind set on the word?! We
serve a God of favor who directs our path. Walk in the way that He
leads us, fiveamprayer. Don't speak against what He has said. What the
Lord has spoken is already done. He has opened up a window and has
poured out blessings that there is not room enough to receive them!!
God has sent us the latter rain. This is a season of expectancy, this
is the ninth month--push to give birth to what God has put on the inside
of you. Cover your mind in the word of God. Don't let anyone drop
anything contrary to the word in your spirit. You know who God is. Romans 12:2 And
be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing
of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and
perfect, will of God. Fiveamprayer, ask for God's thoughts, they are much higher than our thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9 8)
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,
saith the LORD. 9) For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are
my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
We lift up prayer requests those known and unknown have them to know
that we must stay armed with the armour of God. Thank You Lord for
forgiving us, we repent for not being prepared and suited up. God, You
are so good that You even heal us from the guilt of sin. No only do You
forgive us but You cast our sins into the sea to be remembered no
more. Thank You God for calling us friend. Fiveamprayer, tell God,
