The Counting of the Omer, Day 16--Israel's Wilderness Is An Example For Us Today!!!!

Deuteronomy 8; Psalm 119

We are walking in today:  The Counting of the Omer, Day 16--Israel's Wilderness Is An Example For Us Today!!!!

Witness wilderness throughout the Bible:  H4057 midbar --wilderness, pasture, uninhabited land

Exodus 3:18 And they shall hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we beseech thee, three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.
Torah:  Genesis 16:7,  21:14, 37:22; Exodus 4:27, 7:16, 16:32; Numbers 14:33; Deuteronomy 1:31

Psalm  63:1 [[A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness H4057 of Judah.]] O God, thou art
my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

Deuteronomy 8:2 You are to remember everything of the way in which Adonai led you these forty years in the desert, humbling and testing you in order to know what was in your heart — whether you would obey his mitzvoth or not.

Psalm 119:121-128
ע (‘Ayin)

121 I have done what is just and right; don’t abandon me to my oppressors.
122 Guarantee your servant’s well-being; don’t let the arrogant oppress me.
123 My eyes fail from watching for your salvation and for [the fulfillment of] your righteous promise.
124 Deal with your servant in accordance with your grace, and teach me your laws.
125 I am your servant; give me understanding, so that I can know your instruction.
126 The time has come for Adonai to act, because they are breaking your Torah.
127 Therefore I love your mitzvoth more than gold, more than fine gold.
128 Thus I direct my steps by [your] precepts; every false way I hate.

Ancient Name: ayin
Pictograph: Eye
Meanings: Watch, Know, Shade
Sound: Silent

History & Reconstruction
The Ancient picture for this letter is a picture of an eye. This letter represents the ideas of seeing and watching as well as knowledge, as the eye is the window of knowledge.

The name of the letter is ayin, a Semitic word meaning eye. This letter is silent in Modern Hebrew. There is no indication that the ancient Semitic had a sound for this letter as well and appears to have been silent in the past. The Greek language assigned the vowel sound "o" to the letter and may be the origin of the number 0. As Hebrew did not have one letter for the "o" sound the Greeks took this silent letter and converted it into a vowel.

The early Semitic evolved into the simpler in the middle Semitic and remained the same into the late Semitic period. This letter evolved into the ע in the Modern Hebrew script. The middle Semitic became the O in Greek and Latin.

Entering the Kingdom: The Wilderness Testing of the Believers

The Scriptures reveal that Yahweh tests His people, to determine who may enter in, and who may not. Yahweh’s testing is a continual process of teaching, testing, discerning, and separating. We will begin by looking at the future, end-time picture of the City of Yahweh, where we see some who are allowed to enter in and some are not allowed in, but are kept outside the City:

Revelation 22:14  Blessed are they that do his commandments that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Revelation 22:15  For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loves and makes a lie.

The City of Yahweh speaks of the close-in realm of His Kingdom, and the place of His dwelling, also known as His People. Here we see that not everyone will be allowed into the City, but some must remain outside. So how does Yahweh determine who will, and who will not, be allowed to enter in?

When we were in school, we were first taught, then were tested continually. Yahweh likewise puts His people through continual teaching and testing. He then gives them a “Final Exam” just before “Graduation” time. In this writing, we will look at the ongoing testing Yahweh’s people must undergo.

The Israelites — Our Example
The versus of Deuteronomy 8:2-3 gives us a clue of our teaching and testing for today’s talmidim. El Elyon caused His people to wander in the wilderness for 40 years, to test them on only ONE issue: to see whether they would, or would not, keep His commandments. If Israel is our example, we should expect to see the same pattern for us today.

Deuteronomy 8:2-3 2 You are to remember everything of the way in which Adonai led you these forty years in the desert, humbling and testing you in order to know what was in your heart — whether you would obey his mitzvoth or not.  3 He humbled you, allowing you to become hungry, and then fed you with man, which neither you nor your ancestors had ever known, to make you understand that a person does not live on food alone but on everything that comes from the mouth of Adonai.

The Same Example: But with Grace to Succeed

There are two chapters (chapters 3 and 4) of Hebrews devoted to warning the Believers of today. Here we are told that Israel is our example, and we are reminded over and over again, exactly why they could not enter in, as a warning to us today. Israel in the Wilderness is our example today! The difference is that for us today, we have the ability given to us by “Messiah-in-you,” His Grace from within, to succeed, where the Israelites failed. The entire focus of the New Covenant is on “Messiah-in-you,” and on His enabling grace to do His will, so that He might bring us in to the City! Let’s look closely at this testing, to see if Scripture might confirm some of these ideas. Part of Yahweh’s purpose is to test His people, in order to determine, and separate, those whom He will bring into His Kingdom, from those whom He will not bring in.

The Testing of the Virgins
Yeshua gives us further insight into this testing, in the Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins. Notice there were two groups of five virgins, all of them together, awaiting the Bridegroom’s arrival. As soon as the foolish virgins separate themselves over the oil, the Bridegroom arrives, and the wise enter in with the Bridegroom. Yeshua then tells us the Test results, after the five Wise Virgins have gone in with the Bridegroom. Yeshua then tells us the Test results, after the five Wise Virgins have gone in with the Bridegroom:

But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. (Matthew 25:12) The above response by Yeshua tells us that a New Covenant (Eternal, or “Everlasting Covenant”) Issue had been violated. The only Everlasting Covenant issues of “knowing” are those seen here in scripture:

Exodus 31:13, 16  13 “Tell the people of Israel, ‘You are to observe my Shabbats; for this is a sign between me and you through all your generations; so that you will know that I am Adonai, who sets you apart for me.  16 The people of Israel are to keep the Shabbat, to observe Shabbat through all their generations as a perpetual covenant.

Ezekiel 20:12 I gave them my Shabbats as a sign between me and them, so that they would know that I, Adonai, am the one who makes them holy.

Ezekiel 20:20  and keep my Shabbats holy; and they will be a sign between me and you, so that you will know that I am Adonai your God.”

The “sign” of those who take hold of Yeshua’s Everlasting Covenant is that they “do His will” — as seen in the above Exodus and Ezekiel passages: they hallow “My Sabbaths.” This is very important — this is a Key issue! Notice these are not “Jewish” Sabbaths — they are HIS Sabbaths! They include all the Festivals listed in Leviticus 23:1-44.

But let’s look for further Scripture confirmation of the Virgins’ testing. An earlier passage sheds more light on the nature of this test:

Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity

Again, we see an issue of “not knowing,” but this time we are told it is related to “iniquity.” The word “iniquity” used here is the Greek word ‘anomia,’ Strong’s number G458, meaning “lawlessness” or “transgressing the Law, either because of ignorance of the Law, or because of violating the Law.” Thus we see confirmation that “transgressing the Law” had occurred. It must have been related to the covenant issue of “KNOWING,” in order for the Bridegroom to have said, “I never KNEW you.” When the Sabbaths are not kept, the Law is transgressed. John tells us that this transgression of the Law is “sin” by the new Testament Definition! So the Virgins are tested, and separated based on their ‘anomia’.

1 John 3:4 Everyone who keeps sinning is violating Torah — indeed, sin is violation of Torah.

All Who Enter the Kingdom Are Tested

This testing is not an issue of Salvation — of “coming out” by the Blood — but it is an issue of “entering in.” It is also not an issue of things that one “must” do, for under the New Covenant there is nothing “required” or mandatory. No, the testing is simply a matter of Yahweh looking to see who will choose those things that please Him, without being compelled to do so. The testing of the Believers in the “Wilderness” is an ongoing process that has been going on for 40 jubilees at this writing. The Believers will be either allowed or refused entry, based on their actions of keeping, or ignoring, Yahweh’s commandments. The time is almost here for us to take the “final exams” prior to entering in to the Kingdom!  Shema Selah, we must look to know the way of the wise virgins, this is relationship no longer religion!!  Facebook LIVE video
