30 Day Tongue Fast, The Gossiping Tongue--Day 10

Proverbs 18

We are walking in today:  30 Day Tongue Fast, The Gossiping Tongue--Day 10

Teaching from the book:  30 Days to Taming Your Tongue by Deborah Smith Pegues

Witness evil tongue throughout the Bible:  H3956 lashon spelled lamed, shin, nun--tongue, language
&
H7451 ra spelled resh, ayin--bad, disagreeable, malignant
Psalm 50:19 Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit.

Torah:
Prophets:  Jeremiah 9:3
Writings:  Job 20:12; Psalms 15:3, 140:11; Proverbs 6:24, 17:20

Psalms 71:24 My tongue  also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.

Proverbs 18:8 The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

Did you know that gossiping can lower your sense of self-worth? How? When you gossip, you tend to realize you are not walking in integrity. We feel best about ourselves when we do things that are pleasing to God after all, He created us for His pleasure. What’s the solution? How do you stop gossiping? Catch yourself before you indulge! Ask yourself why you are being a bearer of such news. Is this the only way you know how to establish camaraderie with others? Do you need to be the center of attention? Does it make you feel superior to know something negative about somebody that the hearer doesn’t know? Are you envious of your subject’s accomplishments? Why are you willing to use the temple of God as a “trash receptacle” by being a receiver of gossip? What do you plan to do with the information a gossip shares with you? Are you bored with your life and need more meaningful activities?

Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my Strength, and my Redeemer.

Today's Affirmation: I am not a busybody in other people’s matters. Therefore, I do not yield my tongue as an instrument of gossip.

30 Day Tongue Fast, the Slandering Tongue Day 9

Proverbs 10

We are walking in today:  30 Day Tongue Fast, the Slandering Tongue Day 9

Teaching from the book:  30 Days to Taming Your Tongue by Deborah Smith Pegues

Witness slander throughout the Bible:  H1681 dibbah spelled dalet, beit, hey --whispering, defamation, evil report, defamation, defaming, evil report, unfavourable saying

Proverbs 10:18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

Torah:  Genesis 37:2, Numbers 13:32, 14:36, 14:37
Prophets:  Jeremiah 20:10; Ezekiel 36:3
Writings:  Psalm 31:13; Proverbs 25:10

Leviticus 19:16 “‘Do not go about spreading slander among your people. “‘Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor’s life. I am the Lord.

Proverbs 10:18  He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth slander, is a fool.

Slanderers make malicious, false, or even true statements about others with the intent of damaging their reputation, character, or good name. Political campaigners are notorious for releasing slanderous statements to the media with the hope of disadvantaging their opponents. Rare is the candidate who runs a totally clean campaign these days. Some people are so insecure and easily threatened that they feel they must cast aspersions on the character of others whom they perceive as “the competition” in order to maintain their position. Such was the case of Diotrephes, plagued with insecurity, he feared that the disciple's visit would threaten his preeminence, so he refused to allow them to come. You can find many a Diotrephes in sacred and secular organizations.

Psalm 15:1-3 LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill? He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman

3 John 1:10 When I come, I will report some of the things he is doing and the wicked things he is saying about us. He not only refuses to welcome the traveling teachers, he also tells others not to help them. And when they do help, he puts them out of the church.

Jealousy, envy are doors opened for dishonor one can operate in if left unchecked and the person influenced by this slanderous tongue. We all fall short, but the good thing is that the Most High teaches us to recognize it and the opportunity to teshuva and be healed.

Today's Affirmation: I refuse to be a slanderer. I will use Philippians 4:8 as my conversation sifter. Therefore, whatever things are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy about someone, I comment only on these things.

Philippians 4:8
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Wake up for the Shake up--We Don't Shake--We Shift!!!

Isaiah  40:31; Romans 8:28; Isaiah 14:27; Ephesians 1:9; Isaiah 41:10

We are walking in today: Wake up for the Shake up--We Don't Shake--We Shift!!!

Fiveamprayer we have been shifted by the spirit today to speak to each of our hearts and minds!! We have to know, understand and hold on to the truth that He has a promised plan!! This is His covenant plan that is being brought to pass in our lives in spite of how it looks! This character check for 12 months is a part of the preparation that we would not speak from our emotions, thoughts or carelessly!! He is taming our tongue and muting our emotions--we are no longer being led by these wavering and fickle emotions and thoughts!! The whispers of doubt and fear are being slain in the bright and warming light of His covenant---that is His word, promisde to complete all that He has set His heart to complete!! Don't miss Him in this Jubilee season with murmuring and complaining!! Who is in control of all things? Who is positioning and causing all things to happen according to His plan? Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Fiveamprayer we must wait upon Him for He will accomplish all of His purpose in our lives!! That is what this shifting, moving and shaking up is all about!! His purpose being brought forth in our lives!!! Keep walking from destruction to deliverance!! He is lighting up all the dark places!!! Lighting up your mind, your emotions and thoughts to find where you are! Are you still looking to you to 'save' yourself from this situation? Take a step back--what is His plan in this thing over all?? Isaiah 14:27 For the Lord of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back? Ephesians 1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself.
As we continue on this character check for 12 months we have been delivered emotionally and mentally--the testing has not stopped!! It is with a sound mind that we are to operate in all things--fear is not even in our DNA!! Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Awesome teaching that the Most High would give us this teaching on today December 27 that we can know that His covenant promise is already done!! We just have to walk into it!! Don't let anything move you from what He has promised!! We are to shift, not shake when things don't go the way that you planned. This is His plan!! You, yes you cannot reverse what the Most High as already set in motion!! This promise can not be messed up by anyone but you!! Wake up and realize you have a promise from on high!!!
Shema Selah let us pause and consider His promises being brought forth in this Jubilee season!

30 Day Tongue Fast, The Self-Depreciating Tongue Day 8

Exodus 4

We are walking in today:  30 Day Tongue Fast, The Self-Depreciating Tongue Day 8

Teaching from the book:  30 Days to Taming Your Tongue by Deborah Smith Pegues.

Witness despise throughout the Bible:  H7043 qalal spelled qof, lamed, lamed--to be slight, be swift, be trifling, be of little account, be light, despise

Nehemiah 4:4  Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity:

Torah:  Genesis 16:4
Prophets:   1 Samuel 2:30, 18:23; 2 Samuel 19:43; Isaiah 49:6; Ezekiel 8:17
Writings:  1 Kings 16:31;  2 Kings 3:18, 20:10

Job 5:17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

Exodus 4:10  And Moses said unto the Lord, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore nor since Thou hast spoken unto Thy servant; but I am slow of speech and of a slow tongue.”

Self depreciation, the trick of HaSatan delusive scheme, to have one even sold out to the Most High second guess the words already spoken over one’s life from before the foundations of this earth! Yet somehow doubt and human inadequacy places a idiotic stronghold over the promises of the Most High. Even Moses who lead the great exodus of the Israelites from Egypt, succumbed to doubt and lack of speech for the task of confronting Pharaoh as commanded from the Most High.
I figure even if you don’t have the means--if the God who created the very breath you breathe appears to you and tells you to confront. What more do you need?!  But all have come short to the glory of The Most High, yet we lean not to our own understanding. But trust in the Lord with all our hearts.

Proverbs 3:5-6 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding; 6 in all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

Romans 3:22-24 22 even the righteousness of God, which is by faith of Jesus Christ, unto all and upon all those who believe. For there is no difference, 23 for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

Self-deprecation displeases God, when Moses complained that he was inadequate to lead the Israelites out of Egyptian bondage because of his speech impediment, God became upset.

Exodus 4:11-12 The LORD said to him, “Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say”.

Today's Affirmation:   God is able to make all grace abound toward me; so that I always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.

Weekend Meditation--30 Day Tongue Fast--The Boasting Tongue Day 7

Proverbs 27

We are walking in today:  Weekend Meditation--30 Day Tongue Fast--The Boasting Tongue Day 7

Teaching from the book:  30 Days to Taming Your Tongue by Deborah Smith Pegues

Witness boast throughout the Bible:   H1984 halal spelled hey, lamed, lamed-- to be boastful, to boast, glory, make one's boast

Ezekiel 35:13 Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.
Torah:
Prophets:
Writings: Psalm 10:3, 49:6, 52:1, 97:7; Proverbs 20:14, 25:14, 27:1

Isaiah 10:15 Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood.

Proverbs 27:2 Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

The journey the Most High has for you is amazing and full of achievements and returning the lost to Him. We are to humble yourselves to know the God who created the air you breathe cares more for you than the air. Takes care of your every need according to your obedience to Him and Him alone. The talents abilities achievements are all because of the love He gave to you as a loving father to push you to his image and likeness and that’s successful in all that you do in Excellency. As He is excellent in all that He does. Boast not of the gifts you have for just as hard as they came. It’s very easy to lose it all in the blink of an eye.

We must learn to consciously take the backseat when pride screams for the front row. Study the fate of proud men in the Bible. Meditate on Scriptures that deal with humility and pride.

1 Corinthians 4:7
Who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?

Whatever skills or talents God has given to you, they are for His glory. Learn to take praise in stride. If your popularity increases, don’t be intoxicated by the accolades. Remember that praise is like perfume. If you consume it, it will kill you!

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION:  l Corinthians 15:10 “By the grace of God, I am what I am”
Shema Selah  let us pause and consider this teaching, in this weekend meditation!!  Facebook LIVE video

30 Day Tongue Fast--The Argumentative Tongue, Day 6

Proverbs 20

We are walking in today:  30 Day Tongue Fast--The Argumentative Tongue, Day 6

Teaching from the book:  30 Days to Taming Your Tongue by Deborah Smith Pegues

Witness argue throughout the Bible:  H7378 riyb spelled resh, yod, beit--to strive, contend, strive, to
quarrel, argue

Judges 6:31 But Joash shouted to the mob that confronted him, “Why are you defending Baal? Will
you argue his case? Whoever pleads his case will be put to death by morning! If Baal truly is a god, let him defend himself and destroy the one who broke down his altar!”

Torah: Genesis 26:20
Prophets: Isaiah 45:9; Hosea 4:4
Writings: Job 33:13; Psalm 35:1; Proverbs 3:30, 25:8

Job 40:2 “Do you still want to argue with the Almighty? You are God's critic, but do you have the answers?”

We have to understand that conflict is how the Most High develops leaders!! For those you walk with and if your are not able to get through the conflict, you were not meant to walk together!! It is in these areas of conflict that leaders are shaped--this training process reveals and builds discipline and integrity. When the ministry and those ministry leaders are standing on biblical foundation and principles, the world is impacted by the influence of heaven operating here on the Earth! For He must prepare those who are to influence others to return to His kingdom principles and statues! Fiveamprayer, understand that conflict is not proof of sin but can be sinful it not addressed in a biblical fashion!! We will continue to teach on the law of conflict, during this tongue fast!

Proverbs 20:3  It is an honor for a man to cease from strife, but every fool will be meddling.

Fool in Hebrew

I. × ָבָל adjective foolish, senseless, especially of the man who has no perception of ethical and religious claims, and with collateral idea of ignoble, disgraceful; — absolute ׳×

As we continue the 30 days of taming the tongue. We have encountered many evils of the tongue, but still, have ways to go. Coming to the argumentative tongue and we all know someone--even ourselves that carry the characteristic trait of being argumentative. The idea that everything is up for confrontation and argumentive sake needs serious review!

Unlike divisive people, whose actions destroy unity between parties, argumentative people enjoy directly resisting anyone whose viewpoint is different from theirs. In fact, they seem to stay on high alert for anything they can discuss that will get someone else on the defensive. Never without fodder for a verbal fight, they can always depend upon any discussion of religion or politics to produce unending quarrels.

Another reason some people resort to quarreling is to bolster their own self-worth. They can only feel good about themselves by attacking the validity of other people’s opinions, philosophies, or beliefs and then maneuvering them into defending their position. The quarreler’s goal is not to add value to someone’s life by showing him the error of his way. In fact, Mrs. Quarreler would be greatly disappointed if her target responded, “Oh, thank you for shedding light on this matter.

Proverbs 17:14 “Beginning a quarrel is like opening a floodgate, so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out”

Matthew 5:25 “agree with your adversary quickly”

If you have a tendency to be contentious or argumentative, remember that it costs you absolutely nothing to respect someone’s opinion—especially on matters that have no eternal consequences.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: I will resist becoming contentious by respecting everyone’s right to have his own values and views.

Shema Selah let us pause and consider the confict that the Most High uses in our lives to build leadership!  Facebook LIVE video

Men of Torah Taking a Stand as Judah Maccabees!!!! We will not ASSIMILATE!!!! It is HAMMER TIME!!!!!!

1 Maccabees 4, John 10:20-24

We are walking in today:  Men of Torah Taking a Stand as Judah Maccabees!!!!
We will not ASSIMILATE!!!! It is HAMMER TIME!!!!!!

Witness accept throughtout the Bible:  H14 'abah spelled alef, beit, hey--to be willing, consent, yield to, accept, conform

Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Torah: Exodus 10:27; Leviticus 26:21; Deuteronomy 1:26, 2:30, 13:8, 23:5
Prophets: 1 Samuel 15:9, 22:17; Isaiah 30:9, 30:15, 42:24
Writings: Joshua 24:10, Judges 11:17

1 Peter 1:14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.

1 Maccabee 4

John 10:20-24
20 Many of them said, “He has a demon!” and “He’s meshugga! Why do you listen to him?” 21 Others said, “These are not the deeds of a man who is demonized — how can a demon open blind people’s eyes?” 22 Then came Hanukkah in Yerushalayim. It was winter, 23 and Yeshua was walking around inside the Temple area, in Shlomo’s Colonnade. 24 So the Judeans surrounded him and said to him, “How much longer are you going to keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us publicly!”

To begin to celebrate Hanukkah we first want to have the understanding and history of this authentic biblical Feast Day called The Dedication of Lights.

John 10:22
Then came Hanukkah in Yerushalayim. It was winter,

Leviticus 6:12-13
12 And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out. And the priest shall burn wood on it every morning and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings. 13 The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.

First, we’ll start with Israel being enslaved by Syria. More than 2000 years ago there was a time when the land of Israel was part of the Syrian-Greek Empire, dominated by Syrian rulers of the dynasty of the Seleucids. We shall start with Antiochus III, the King of Syria, who reigned from 3538 to 3574 (222-186 B.C.E.). He had waged war with King Ptolemy of Egypt over the possession of the Land of Israel. Antiochus III was victorious and the Land of Israel was annexed to his empire. At the beginning of his reign, he was favorably disposed toward the Jews and accorded them some privileges. Later on, however, when he was beaten by the Romans and compelled to pay heavy taxes, the burden fell upon the various peoples of his empire who were forced to furnish the heavy gold that was required of him by the Romans. When Antiochus died, his son Seleucus IV took over, and further oppressed the Jews.

Added to the troubles from the outside were the grave perils that threatened Judaism from within. The influence of the Hellenists (people who accepted idol-worship and the Syrian way of life) was increasing. Yochanan, the High Priest, foresaw the danger to Judaism from the penetration of Syrian-Greek influence into the Holy Land. For, in contrast to the idea of outward beauty held by the Greeks and Syrians, Judaism emphasizes truth and moral purity, as commanded by G‑d in the holy Torah. Yochanan was therefore opposed to any attempt on the part of the Jewish Hellenists to introduce Greek and Syrian customs into the land. The Hellenists hated him. One of them told the King’s commissioner that in the treasury of the Temple there was a great deal of wealth.

The wealth in the treasury consisted of the contributions of "half a shekel" made by all adult Jews annually. That was given for the purpose of the sacrifices on the altar, as well as for fixing and improving the Temple building. Another part of the treasury consisted of orphans’ funds which were deposited for them until they became of age. Seleucus needed money in order to pay the Romans. He sent his minister Helyodros to take the money from the treasury of the Temple.

A short time later, Seleucus was killed and his brother Antiochus IV began to reign over Syria (in 3586 - 174 B.C.E.). He was a tyrant of a rash and impetuous nature, contemptuous of religion and of the feelings of others. He was called "Epiphanes," meaning "the gods’ beloved." Several of the Syrian rulers received similar titles. But a historian of his time, Polebius, gave him the epithet Epimanes ("madman"), a title more suitable to the character of this harsh and cruel king. Antiochus tried to root out the individualism of the Jews by suppressing all the Jewish Laws. He removed the righteous High Priest, Yochanan, from the Temple in Jerusalem, and in his place installed Yochanan’s brother Joshua, who loved to call himself by the Greek name of Jason. For he was a member of the Hellenist party, and he used his high office to spread more and more of the Greek customs among the priesthood.
Joshua or Jason was later replaced by another man, Menelaus, who had promised the king that he would bring in more money than Jason did. When Yochanan, the former High Priest, protested against the spread of the Hellenists’ influence in the Holy Temple, the ruling High Priest hired murderers to assassinate him.

Meanwhile, in Jerusalem, a rumor spread that a serious accident had befallen Antiochus. Thinking that he was dead, the people rebelled against Menelaus. The treacherous High Priest fled together with his friends. Antiochus returned from Egypt enraged by Roman interference with his ambitions. When he heard what had taken place in Jerusalem, he ordered his army to fall upon the Jews. Thousands of Jews were killed. Antiochus then enacted a series of harsh decrees against the Jews. Jewish worship was forbidden; the scrolls of the Law were confiscated and burned. Sabbath rest, circumcision, and the dietary laws were prohibited under penalty of death. Even one of the respected elders of that generation, Rabbi Eliezer, a man of 90, was ordered by the servants of Antiochus to eat pork so that others would do the same. When he refused they suggested to him that he pick up the meat to his lips to appear to be eating. But Rabbi Eliezer refused to do even that and was put to death. There were thousands of others who likewise sacrificed their lives. The famous story of Hannah and her seven children happened at that time.

One day the henchmen of Antiochus arrived in the village of Modin where Mattityahu, the old priest, lived. The Syrian officer built an altar in the marketplace of the village and demanded that Mattityahu offers sacrifices to the Greek gods. Mattityahu replied, "I, my sons and my brothers are determined to remain loyal to the covenant which our G‑d made with our ancestors!"

Thereupon, a Hellenistic Jew approached the altar to offer a sacrifice. Mattityahu grabbed his sword and killed him, and his sons and friends fell upon the Syrian officers and men. They killed many of them and chased the rest away. They then destroyed the altar. Mattityahu, therefore, left the village of Modin and fled together with his sons and friends to the hills of Judea.

All loyal and courageous Jews joined them. They formed legions and from time to time they left their hiding places to fall upon enemy detachments and outposts, and to destroy the pagan altars that were built by order of Antiochus. Before his death, Mattityahu called his sons together and urged them to continue to fight in defense of G d’s Torah. He asked them to follow the counsel of their brother Shimon the Wise. In waging warfare, he said, their leader should be Judah the Strong. Judah was called "Maccabee," a word composed of the initial letters of the four Hebrew words Mi Kamocha Ba’eilim Hashem, "Who is like You, O G‑d."

Now the Maccabees returned to Jerusalem to liberate it. They entered the Temple and cleared it of the idols placed there by the Syrian vandals. Judah and his followers built a new altar, which he dedicated on the twenty-fifth of the month of Kislev, in the year 3622 (139 B.C.E.).

Since the golden Menorah had been stolen by the Syrians, the Maccabees now made one of cheaper metal. When they wanted to light it, they found only a small cruse of pure olive oil bearing the seal of the High Priest Yochanan. It was sufficient to light only for one day. By a miracle of G‑d, it continued to burn for eight days, till new oil was made available. That miracle proved that G‑d had again taken His people under His protection. In memory of this, our sages appointed these eight days for annual thanksgiving and for lighting candles.

Many battles were fought and won by Yehuda Maccabi. His fierceness for the Torah to be restored in practice to the Hebrews. Was likened to a roaring Lion. The same for The Most High. Judea was again free, and all parts captured by the neighboring nation had been recovered. Celebrations and festivity transformed Jerusalem and the Holy Temple, hardly half a year after the victories over the Syrian armies. The Jewish people expressed their joy and gratitude to G‑d in the form of psalms and offerings. For He had restored glory and liberty to the Jewish land.

The Dedication Of lights has a story behind it and a real story. That is biblical and not the traditions of mankind. That are not found by name in the bible but traditions of other nation’s pagan gods. Against all odds, one family chose to fight rather than choose to assimilate to foreign customs and worship. They fought to rededicate fallen Israel back to its God. Rather than die physically than spiritually. They won because of the favor of The Most High. As Men of Torah, we dedicate this temple to our God and celebrated victory over the great things we have overcome. In the name of Yeshia. Seeking ever His Torah for our wellbeing and instructions.
