We are walking in today: The Names Of God And His Character!
Thank you to Minister Telia who is
teaching on the name of God and His character. We first start off in
Genesis where we are introduced to who He is. The first thing that He
did is created, the Spirit of God moved. Then God said. He divided and
God called. He made and saw. He set, then He blessed. At the end of
of chapter 1, He ended. Then in the second chapter--He shows Himself as
Elohim, the El Olam, the Everlasting God. Who is God? He is our Most
High God, the All Sufficient One, He is our Master, our Lord of Peace.
The Lord who will Provide, He is our Father. We must be careful not to
make God into a it or a thing! He is our Jehovah Rohi--The Lord is our
Shepherd. God knows us by our names, like a good Shepherd knows His
sheep. But do you know Him by His names?! We should! First we know
Him as God, then we come to know Him as El or El Elyon, the Most High
God. El is another name that is translated as God. El means deity.
Which means supreme God, the Father of humankind and all creation. El
also means, Eternal One. El also means Holy One. The theological
position of El and Elohim when used in Hebrew, when used in the singular
means the Supreme definition of God, it refers to the same being as
does the name Yahweh. All three refer to the Supreme God. Who is the
God of Israel! Besides whom other gods are to be non-existant or
insignificant. If we break down Yahweh in the Hebrew they took out the
vowels and used YHVH Exodus 6:2-3 2 And God spake unto
Moses, and said unto him, I am the Lord: 3 And I appeared unto Abraham,
unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name
Jehovah was I not known to them. Jehovah was also another
name of Yahweh. Let's look at God, as El-- I AM El, the Highest
Almighty God. El also means that God, Yahweh stands in divine council.
Elohim means plural, so usually when you are talking about Elohim it is
not just God alone. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy
Spirit. Elohim is a formation from Elelah. Let us note the trinity,
God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost--when reading the
word God. You will end up changing characters for instance in Genesis 1
we have God, El, El Elyon, Elohim the Almighty God, the All Sufficient
One, Yahweh, Jehovah which would be characters in the singular. He
begins in the first book of the Bible in the first chapter initially
acting alone. God created. God said. God saw. God called. God made.
God set. God blessed then God ended. Note that God, El, Elohim,
Yahweh, Jehovah and God Almighty changed characters. Now in chapter 2
we have Lord God, which is Elohim plural (we know that to mean more than
one). The characters of God begins to operate and show His name
again. Lord God made. Lord God had not caused. Lord God formed. Lord
God planted. Lord God to plant. Lord God took. Lord God said. Lord
God caused. Lord God had taken. Lord God had made. Lord God had
called. Lord God has called. Lord God said. Then He begins again with
I will make. I will put. I will greatly. I commanded you. Again His
name changes from Lord God when speaking to Adam and Eve to Lord. Now
the character changes again. He refers to Himself as Lord said...The
character of the name of God changes three times--God, Lord God, then
Lord. The trinity is the one God who operates in three persons. From
Genesis 1-4 you have to note that all three, El'shaddai the All Sufficient
One, the Lord God Almighty appeared in chapters 1 through 4 of
Genesis. Then His Hebrew name El, refers to Him again as Yahweh.
Yahweh is the Hebrew name for God that is usually written as four
letters YHVH (yod hey vav hey from the Hebrew alphabet). From the
original name the vowels were taken out and in Roman script was
translated to Jehovah, Yavey and Yahova. Most often written as YHVH
because it was considered blasphemous to utter the name of God. It was
only written and never spoken. This resulted in the original
pronunciation being lost. The name may have been originally derived
from the old Semitic root of Hawah meaning to be or to be come. There
are many names related to Yahweh. El is another name that is translated
as God and can be used in conjunction with other words to designate
various aspects of God's character. Another word, Shaddai may have
derived from Shad meaning breast. In Hebrew, some believe it to mean
mountain, suggesting strength and power. El means God's breast and
mountain, strength and power--the All Sufficient One, the Lord God
Almighty. In Genesis 17:1 El'shaddai is introduced. As we go further
we find the Almighty God is also listed after El'shaddai in the next
verses (Genesis 17:2-3) Notice how El'shaddai and the Almighty God are
working or establishing His covenant? I will make MY covenant. God
talked to Abram and tells him that His covenant is with him. Have I
made thee? I will make thee exceeding fruitful. I will make nations of
thee. I establish MY covenant with thee. I will give. Covenant means
that is His promise. The Lord God is continually saying I will, I
made, I will make, I will establish. If He is uttering those words it
means that He is keeping His promise (Genesis 17:13-15). Sari will no
more be called by that name. He blesses her in verse 19 and establishes
her. The Lord, God Almighty that is continuing to work in Genesis 28:3
and 35:1-12. Remember we are talking about Yahweh, El'shaddai, the
Almighty God, the All Sufficient God--the mighty hand of God. From
Genesis 1:1, God, Lord God, Lord. The trinity which is in three persons
that God is operating in throughout all of Genesis. The introduction
starts at the first chapter, read Genesis to see how He reveals Himself
to us! The Almighty God is speaking and establishing His kingdom and
people. He is using Himself as God Almighty. There are many names of
God, but the first is to understand El, which is part of El'shaddai.
That He is Yahweh and Elohim that all means the same--it is an
introduction to the Almighty! God's introduction of Himself started in
Genesis. El the truth of God's character and focus on His name reveals
His power, authority and His holiness. El shows that He is deity--holy,
divine, supernatural or sacred. In Hebrew El also means Yahweh. Can
also be combined with other nouns or adjectives. Some examples are
Isra'el the one who is ruled by God. Bethel which means house of God.
Peniel which means face of God, as Jacob says in Genesis 32:30. Jesus' name in Hebrew is Yeshua, and when He spoke in Mark 15:34 Eloi,
Eloi which is My God, My God. El'shaddai, means God Almighty, El
points to the power of God Himself. Shaddai signifies one who nurtures,
supplies or satisfies. It is the name of God as El who helps but the
name Shaddai who abundantly blesses with all manner of blessings. God
desires to bless man, that is always His intention from the very
beginning. God is powerful enough to provide His people with
blessings. Not only is He powerful enough to do so, He wants to do
it. But He also wants man to worship and obey Him. There is but one
God who exists in three persons. God the Father, God the Son and God
the Holy Ghost. God the Son did the will of the Father, in so doing
brought glory to the Father. Now the Holy Ghost, and each person of
the trinity is an infinite being that all add to the infinate Godhead.
Genesis 28:3, 35:11, 48:3-4, 49:24-25, Numbers 24:4,16; Ruth 1:20-21;
Isaiah 60:15-16, 66:10-13; Revelation 16:7,14. These scriptures show
the Almighty God in action in the characteristics of His name. He
starts out in Genesis 1:1 and ends in Revelation 21:22-23. El Elyon,
God Almighty, El'shaddai, Almighty God, Yahweh are all in Genesis,
Exodus, Levitucus, Deutoronromy all the way through to Revelation. We
have to note the names of God and the characteristics of His character.
That He is mighty all throughout scripture. We have to know how to
utlize His names properly. It is time for us to know who we are
talking to and how to use His names in the appropiate way. This is
how He has given us His names that we would come to know Him better.
Seek Him in His word. We have to know who and what characteristic is
speaking and why. We are living in the dispenstation of the Holy
Ghost. From Genesis where we first meet the Godhead, God is speaking
all through until Malachi, then the Son is introduced and His
dispensation begins where He speaks from Matthew to John. Then the Holy
Ghost enters in at Acts which is the promised Comforter coming unto
us. We need to acknowledge who Yahweh is. Thank You Almighty God for
continuing to operate and show us who You are! Fiveamprayer we have to
know who is speaking to us at that particular time. That is why we need
the Holy Ghost. God has been introducing Himself to us in the
beginning, middle and the end of the Bible. We must know who Almighty
God is! There is more on this study of who Yahweh is, we just started
with Elohim, that we would come to know who Almighty God is. The All
Sufficient One, El is working as one all through scripture! To hear this again click here.
In
all of your getting get understanding. It is war time we have to put
on the whole armor! We have got to be prepared. We are about to go
through basic training in this study of His name. We pray that You
Almighty God would pour back into Minister Telia. Thank You for her
obedience and her yielding unto You. Thank You Yahweh! Praise Your
name El'shaddai! Your prayers will be more powerful by using the names
of the Almighty, the names that He introduces to us in His word--how we
are to call on our King, our Adonai! He is giving us power from on
high. The enemy is under your feet, but we have to know how to apply
that power. We have to know how to walk in dominion! We have to be
taught how to walk according to His word. They that hunger and thirst
shall be filled. He is the bread of heaven, the true vine. He is the
way the truth and the life! I AM that I AM--He is the beginning and the
end. Alpha and Omega, He was and is and is to come! Hallelujah
Abba!
We seal this prayer in the precious blood of Jesus of Nazareth, the only Begotten of the Heavenly Father and by the Holy Spirit: There
is not a name above Your name, excellent above all the earth! We write
in the blood El'shaddai, Yahweh, Yeshua, Jesus of Nazareth the Son of
the Living God. The God of Abraham, Issac, Jacob and of fiveamprayer!
