ל (Lamed)
Psalms 119:89-96
89 Your word continues forever, Adonai, firmly fixed in heaven;
90 your faithfulness through all generations; you established the earth, and it stands.
91 Yes, it stands today, in keeping with your rulings; for all things are your servants.
92 If your Torah had not been my delight, I would have perished in my distress.
93 I will never forget your precepts, for with them you have made me alive.
94 I am yours; save me because I seek your precepts.
95 The wicked hope to destroy me, but I focus on your instruction.
96 I see the limits of all perfection, but your mitzvah has no bounds.

Ancient Name: Lam
Pictograph: Shepherd Staff
Meanings: Teach, Yoke, Bind, Toward
Sound: L

History & Reconstruction
The Early Hebrew pictograph is, a shepherd's staff. The shepherd staff was used to direct sheep by pushing or pulling them. It was also used as a weapon against predators to defend and protect the sheep.

The meaning of this letter is "toward" as moving something in a different direction. This letter also means "authority," as it is a sign of the shepherd, the leader of the flock. It also means "yoke," which is a staff on the shoulders, "tie" or "bind" from an idea of the yoke that is bound to the animal.

This letter is used as a prefix to nouns meaning "to" or "toward."

The Modern Hebrew name of this letter is lamed and is carried over into the Greek name lamda. The Arabic name, however, is lam, retaining an older two letter root name for the letter and the probable original name. The phonetic sound of this letter is "l."

The original pictograph for this letter is and has remained virtually unchanged through Middle Hebrew as well as the Greek and Roman scripts. In Late Semitic, this letter changed slightly to and became ל in the Modern Hebrew script. The Early Semitic is the origin of the Greek Λ (upside down from the Hebrew) and the Roman L.

Meat in Due Season
As we continue to open the minds and understanding, that El Elyon is the master of seasons and time. He operates in seasons and cycles mentioned in Leviticus 23:4, 37, 26:4 and Genesis 8:22. Psalms 90:12 also mentions that in this all we are to learn how to count on Adonai's time and not the Greco-Roman calendar or systems taught to us in this modern day Babylonian system. As we learn how to operate on the Most Highs system we learn that He provides all our needs according to His riches and glory and in His time. The four seasons of time also bring the four seasons of El Elyon and meat in those seasons.

Matthew 24:45  Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season.

Luke 12:42  And the Lord said, who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?

The Most High tells us that as new believers in His Kingdom He gave us milk, not solid food because we were not mature enough to receive the meat of His word. So we begin to understand the idiom of the word meat that alludes to His in-depth word instead of the surface of his word. He begins to open our understanding just like the Talmidim were not ready to understand Yeshua’s teachings. They pulled Him to the side after several of His teachings to the masses. To inquire of the Master teacher and word made flesh. What are your really talking about Rabbi?

1 Corinthians 3:2  I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto you were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

Mark 8:21 He said to them, “And you still don’t understand?”

In the above passages, we see immediately that this meat in due season is something that ultimately comes from our Heavenly Father, even though it is distributed by His stewards. Let us hone in on an additional passage that shows us some further detail of the meat in due season that brings nourishment:

1 Timothy 4:6  "A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!" "If thou shall put the brethren in remembrance of these things thou shalt be a good minister of Yeshua HaMoshiach, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine..."

We then see further confirmation in the 1 Timothy passage above that our nourishment comes from “the words of Faith and of good teaching”— from Yeshua the Word, the Holy Scriptures.

So we see that it is El Elyon who gives us His words, which become our meat as we feed upon His Word. We then become "DO-ers" of His word, as we walk in obedience to His words.

If we are to be nourished by His Word, and thereby grow strong, we must first receive "good teaching," and then walk in "obedience to His Word, just as if it were True" (this is the Biblical definition of "Faith"). The teaching [and doing] of El Elyon's word is the meat that El Elyon people need.

Meat to Her Household

Proverbs 31:15  She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

In the above passage, the Hebrew word for 'meat' is Strong's number H2964, occurring 23 times. This word comes from H2963, occurring 25 times, and means "ravening" or "prey." The number "25" alerts us to the idea that this word is related to the Bride characteristic of "5," as seen in 5 x 5. She will gorge herself with food and will carry the partly-digested (prepared) food back to her household where she will regurgitate, and "divide the spoil," or distribute the portions to her young cubs at night.

This activity perfectly describes the Bride and the feeding of her household!

So we see the meat distributed to her household is nourishing meat indeed, for it is what the Bride has been feeding upon — the Word of the Most High, the words of faith, and all the teachings that build up and prepare the Bride, but if the household is given meat, what is to be given to the maidens? Let's look at this.

A Portion to Her Maidens
the 'portion given to her maidens' tells us much also. The word for 'portion' is the Hebrew word 'choq' H2706, which occurs 127 times. The Hebrew word actually means "statute, ordinance, or commandments," and comes from the word H2710 meaning to "engrave or inscribe."

Thus the word translated here as 'portion' implies a foundational, New Covenant issue — of inscribing El Shaddai's Laws and Commandments on the heart. The Bride gives the maidens the 'portion' of the pure Word of El Elyon— the teaching of His Laws ("Torah"), and His Commandments, Ordinances, and Precepts. For these are a part of the New Covenant provisions to be given to them, as summarized in Jeremiah 31:31-33! The hope is, that after these maidens are brought into the "bond(age)" of the Marriage [New] Covenant (Eze 20:37), they will desire to become a part of the Bride Company.

Jeremiah 31:31-33
30 (31) “Here, the days are coming,” says Adonai, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Isra’el and with the house of Y’hudah. 31 (32) It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers on the day I took them by their hand and brought them out of the land of Egypt; because they, for their part, violated my covenant, even though I, for my part, was a husband to them,” says Adonai. 32 (33) “For this is the covenant I will make with the house of Isra’el after those days,” says Adonai: “I will put my Torah within them and write it on their hearts; I will be their God, and they will be my people.

Ezekiel 20:37  And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.

So we see that the 'portion' given to the Maidens is the New Covenant understanding of walking in the Statutes, Ordinances, and Commandments of Yahuweh, that Yahushua desires to engrave or inscribe on the heart, as one of the New Covenant provisions.

New Covenant Issues
Psalms 111:5  He hath given meat 02964 unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.

John 6:55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

Luke 22:19-20  And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This [Passover bread] is my body which is given for you: this do [keep the Passover] in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after [Passover] supper, saying, This [Passover] cup is the new testament [New Covenant] in my blood, which is shed for you. Here we see in the Psalms passage that the 'meat' is related to Yahuweh's Covenant. We then see in the above John and Luke passages, that Yahuweh's Everlasting Covenant has been Renewed for His People, and has been sealed by His Blood (Hebrews 13:20). This is a very important Covenant issue. Let's see what takes place when we participate in the Passover meal.

According to Yahuweh's Covenant, Blood of the sacrifice is to be sprinkled on two places — on the Mercy Seat (Lev 16:14-15), and on the people (Exodus 24:8). Today, this Blood of the Covenant is to be sprinkled upon us, His people, as we participate in His Passover — when we eat the Passover Bread and drink the Passover cup. Yahushua tells us this is "meat indeed" and "drink indeed" (John 6:55).

Under the New ("Renewed") Covenant, the Blood of Yahushua Messiah is sprinkled on His people, in a way that meets both requirements — for we are "the people" and we also have "the mercy seat" of the Ark of the Covenant within us — where the Tables of His Word reside — for His Torah is being written on the Tables of our heart. This is the place where El Elyon now resides, by His Holy Spirit, because Yahushua's Blood has initially cleansed us from within when we were 'Born-Again.'

Only in this way, by drinking that which represents the 'Blood' of the Covenant — can His Blood be sprinkled on our inward parts?? Only in this way, by participating in the Blood and Body of the Passover Lamb, can we continue to have His Life abide [remain] in us (John 6:53; John 15:10; 1 John 2:6; 2 John 1:9). Surely everyone who has been Born-Again has Yahushua living within, and therefore Yahushua Himself becomes our Life. But Yahushua tells us that the Body and Blood of the Passover Lamb is a spiritual nourishment ("meat indeed" and "drink indeed") that is necessary for our continued growth, and for our obedience, and for the required testimony that "Yahushua-in-you" desires to become.

The combined passages tell us that the 'meat' includes the teachings regarding the Renewed Covenant, and the ability He provides by His Grace, to participate and to walk in His Covenant.
