God Will Back Us Up, In Whatever We Say!
1 Kings 18; Psalm 139:14; Joshua 24:15; 1 Kings 8:56; Proverbs 18:21; Isaiah 57:19; Romans 8:31; Genesis 1:2-3; Hebrews 13:8; Numbers 23:19; Matthew 5:6; Psalm 19:14
We are walking in today: God Will Back Us Up, In Whatever We Say!
1 Kings 18:18-19 18) And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the Lord, and thou hast followed Baalim. 19) Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table. There are many accounts that prove the sovereignty of God and the nothingness of satan. Look at satan's role in the account of Job and also the manner in which satan is given power to give life to to the beast in the book of Revelation. Since the power is given lets you know that he does not have it on his own power. No one and nothing gives God power, He already has it and it can not be taken away! The devil can not make the same claim! One of my favorites sections of the text in this regard is Elijah verses the prophets of baal. Since baal is also a name for satan, they were no competition for the One and only true God! The duel that took place between the true prophet of God and the false prophets dedicated to baal further proves God's unlimited power and satan's predestined defeat. When Elijah was consulted by the wicked king Ahab and called, 'he that troubled Israel,' in 1 Kings 18:17, he responds by challenging the king's religious leaders to a show down. King Ahab, had been looking for Elijah for some time with the intent to kill him (1 Kings 18:10) He blamed Elijah for the famine that had overtaken the land, probably because Elijah had foretold it. But it was really the king's fault, as it was he that had brought trouble to his own land, by his worship of the false gods. Now to prove that Ahab had abandoned the true God and elected to worship the false--Elijah challenged him and his prophets to a sort of spiritual duel. He called the 850 of the false prophets 450 of baal's prophets and the 400 prophets of the grove to stand against him in this challenge. When Ahab accepts this, he gathers the required number of contestants on Mount Carmel. What Elijah did next, was something very amazing. He called all of the people to gather and asked them to witness this duel assuring them that the god who answered with fire, would be the one true God. And Elijah came into all the people and said, how long halt ye between two opinions? (1 Kings 18:21-24) In this way, the battle was with 850 men who believed that baal was the true god against the one man that knew that Jehovah is God! In the natural that would appear to be poor odds to go into battle. We have to see and know that God is not concerned about the odds--as Pastor Thomas says, I always win! Where do you think that confidence comes from? The all knowing and powerful God--who never fails! That is the same confidence that Elijah had knowing that he could not fail, he is standing on God's side! That is how you can always win! No matter what you are facing or how it appears in the natural, we are to walk by faith and not by sight. This did not deter Elijah, and it should not deter us! Anyone in there right minds would have wondered about Elijah's sanity. One against 850? That is what it looks like to have the mind of Christ. Speaking to storms and contrary winds while being tossed back and forth on the sea, yet the words spoken and the sea calmed. Yet the false prophets are shown to be in error. Hold on to God's word--He shows up and backs up what you have said! Elijah was just that confident in the Lord his God. It was time for the people to decide, just whom they would serve wholeheartedly. They could not serve both! They must choose--there was no response from the people. So Elijah issued this challenge, he dared the people who loved baal to construct an alter and to prepare a sacrifice, then to pray and ask their god to send fire down upon the sacrifice. He would do the same and which ever god answered by fire would be the god that they all would serve. Elijah said unto the prophets of baal to choose a bullock for themselves dress it first for ye are many (1 Kings 18:25-29). The prophets baal did just what Elijah asked them, they called out during the morning hours--to no response. The next attempt to contact there god seems a bit drastic, they got up on the alter and began to jump up and down, to no avail. Elijah saw this and mocked them (1 Kings 18:26-28). What a sight that must have been! When none of this worked, they got desperate and began cutting on themselves--all this they did for several hours to no response from their god (1 Kings 18:30). The power of satan is limited, in this case ineffective, his servants often resort to tearing down the truth to try to prove their point. Doing harm to what is holy seems to be the only way that he can attempt to steal the Lord's glory. In this spirit, the servants of baal had torn down the Lord's alter, so now Elijah rebuilds it. This is often a part of the work today--rebuilding what satan and his people had destroyed (1 Kings 18:31-35). By going to this length, Elijah intended to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that his God was sovereign and the Lord God of all! That he purposely doused his sacrifice with water three times not only soaking the sacrifice, the wood--also the water gathered and filled the trench around the alter. All of this to show the people that this is no mere parlor trick that it could be faked. The people would have had experience in trying to set flame to wet wood to no avail. Knowing that dry would would kinder better. Why would Elijah do such a thing if he lacked any confidence in God showing up? The king and his men were already looking for him to kill him, his failure would only seal his death. That is the faith and confidence we can have in the Almighty! He.Does.Not. Fail. No not ever, no never! Thank You Lord! Who is like the Lord God Almighty? No one! Now it was time to pray. Elijah was careful to put emphasis on the Lord, he wanted God to get all of the glory, not himself. This was in contrast to the false prophets who sought only their own glory. Their god baal had not responded but now after Elijah's prayer fire fell from heaven (1 Kings 18:38). Elijah had prayed that the people would know that Jehovah was God and that their hearts would be turned towards Him. This is an example of a prayer as powerful, witnessing to Elijah was evangelizing to the people. But not in the traditional church method. The methods that many of us are accustomed to today. He was out there in the field, challenging 850 men and their king who served baal. At anytime this mob could have gone up and killed him, at the beginning of the chapter we see that Elijah is a man with a bounty on his head to be killed on sight--1 Kings 18:7-15, when a servant of God sees Elijah, named Obediah fearful that Elijah would not be there when he brings the king back, gets a promise that Elijah will not leave. This lets us now that they were looking for him, the last of God's prophets. The one that God preserved for this moment in time to lead the children of Israel into correction for their wicked ways. So the idea of the people rising up and killing Elijah on mount Carmel, would not have raised any alarms. That would be a common practice in those days. Elijah did not let the common practice, the increased number of false prophets deter him for walking in complete obedience to what God told him to do. When your confidence is firmly placed in God, there is nothing that He can't do through you! He was so confident, to challenge 850 men regarding their god. Though he was but one man, he had the supernatural backing that made the number of baal's prophets seem puny. The abilities, power and knowledge of our God is without bounds and limits! God wanted His people to return to Him and to know and rest in the miracle of His power that they had experienced in the previous years, that they could enjoy for the rest of their lives as they walked in obedience to Him!
I don't know about you but in the 18th chapter verses 39-40 when the Bible says that the people fell on their faces, saying the Lord He is God! Then they had the prophets of baal slain. God will back up every word that we say! We must have our confidence in His word. We are what God says we are--Psalm 139:14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. Fiveamprayer, we have what God says we are: healed, redeemed, restored and blessed! He is all that we need! That is how we have defeated the enemy, by God's word going forth. What ever we say according to His word, God will do. James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. God keeps showing up with His word, that we know how and what to ask for. We must speak His word, with no doubt, only faith and it will be done for us! This is the year that you will see! What god are you with, many of us have place other gods in front of us. Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. He is good and His mercies endure forever! He is always there, He is omnipresent. We serve the Lord God mighty in battle! The all knowing God the everlasting God! There is none like Him! Hold on to every word that He has spoken. 1 Kings 8:56 Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant. You will have what you say--Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Isaiah 57:19 I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him. What have you been praying for? What have you been trusting God for? We must speak His word over our lives, believing and trusting Him! He will bring it to pass. He will show up. The God that we serve is available 24/7--never to busy to take your call or hear your cries for help! Thank You God! Build an alter and place yourself on it as a living sacrifice. Soak the alter, water it down--God will show up! In need of a miracle, He will show up with His marvelous light! That is how Elijah was able to go against 850 prophets of baal--Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Believe it and God will do it! Call on Jehovah Jireh, Jehovah Tsidkenu, Jehovah Rapha, Emmanuel, the Omnipotent, the Lord of lords, and the King of kings. God shows up mightily! He shows up in every prayer and petition. He will show up and show you His glory. He will back up whatever we say! We are to speak light in to that dark formless and void situation--Genesis 1:2-3 2) And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3) And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Call on God, be still and know that He is God! He is the great I AM that I AM! Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? He is God, the God that He is! We can speak a word and that word will come into existence! God spoke let there be and it was! We can speak reconciliation, healing, joy, peace and it was! Thank You God! God will back up His word, spoken by us! We are the head and not the tail, above only never beneath. We are to be lenders not borrowers. We are to receive overflow blessings, a 1,000 fold return! He will back up what we say! Call on Him, fast and pray. We are to seek Him and He will show up! Call on Him they that seek shall find. Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Call on Him, fiveamprayer! We are calling on You Lord, we know that we will receive an answer, You are never too busy for us, nor too far away to hear our whispers! No more calling someone on the phone--we are calling on Jehovah Jireh, the great I AM! Send Your fire, Lord, Your Holy Ghost fire into the churches. We are not calling on anyone else. We are calling on You, Lord! We are calling out Your name! We are saying Jesus, Jesus our Intercessor who sits at the right hand of the Father, the Author and Finisher of our faith! Jesus, Jesus, there is not a friend like the lowly Jesus. No not one. Who else would lay down their life for you?! Stop calling everybody else but God! Soak the alter, the God that we serve will respond with fire! Seek Him in prayer! What a mighty God that we serve! Thank You for Elijah, showing us how we can be confident when we call on Your name! We must pray like never before! You will show up with Holy Ghost fire! Rebuild us, repair us, use us God, we are your earthen vessels. Send the fire back into the churches! Have us to fall on our faces, repenting as we call on Your name. Thank You for forgiving us with no condemnation. Teach us Lord how to forgive others as You have forgiven us, that we are forgiven.
We seal this prayer in His precious blood, by His Spirit: Whatever we say, God will back it up!
Welcome to the overflow...
Thy will be done, only speak Your word. We are casting down imaginations that would try to rise up against Your word. Fiveamprayer take a look there are somethings that we need to bind and loose. We must be careful what you speak, the words of the tongue are a powerful weapon!! It can speak to storms, create worlds, set things in order, cast the devil out of heaven--that is why God is teaching us how to use it, that we create and speak life--speak what God speaks. We are to do what we see our Father do! What is in our heart is what we will speak--Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. Fiveamprayer, watch what you say! God will back up what you speak when you speak His word! The Lord is our Shepherd, we shall not want. The Lord God supplies all our needs according to His riches in glory! It is well with my soul! Speak the word of God, He will back up what you say! He hastens to His word to perform it. He will back up every word, so we must study the word and have the word in us so that is all that we speak! Take some time out today to read these scriptures for yourself.
