We are walking in today: Manage Your Tongue!
2 Samuel 23:2 The Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his word was in my tongue. Now that we are laughing like Sarah--we have gotta know how to manage our tongues! The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me and His word was on my tongue--this was one of the last things that king David said before he passed away. All though David operated in the office of a prophet, speaking God's word, this truth still holds meaning to all new testament believers. Especially when it comes to the words that we speak. I am constantly amazed and disappointed in hearing how Christians today speak. And I am as guilty as many, of speaking inappropriately or negatively--not realizing the power behind my words and the lives that are effected by them. It is a powerful truth that many believers today have not taken seriously or have been erroneously taught. I would like to look at some passages of scripture today that revels this truth. Also one of the topics, is our confession. There are many scriptures that speak directly to how we manage or rather mismanage our tongues. Let all of us humble ourselves to God, to convict our speech and correct it--to line up with Your will, Lord. Psalm 5:9 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue. Psalm 10:7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity. Psalm 34:13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Psalm 35:28 And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long. Psalm 39:1 I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me. Psalm 119:172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness. Proverbs 10:20 The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth. Proverbs 12:18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health. Proverbs 15:4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit. Proverbs 21:23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles. Fiveamprayer, we are gonna learn how to manage our tongues today! Mark 16:7 But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you. Acts 2:11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. 1 Corinthians 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. James 3:5-8 5) Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! 6) And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. 7) For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: 8) But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 1 Peter 3:10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
This passage of scripture speaks to so many of us who do not realize the power of the tongue. The answer is simple, but not easy. We must depend on the Holy Spirit, where we find self-control or temperance as one of the fruits of the spirit, that gives us control over the tongue (Galatians 5:22-23). We are to renew our minds--Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Fiveamprayer how do we renew our minds? In the same way that God told Joshua to be encouraged in his new position of leadership, Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. That is how we get our strength, by keeping God's word in front of us, we need to have our face in His book! Prayer is also vital to controlling the tongue. Because of the awareness of God's presence and then we are drawn to do the things that please Him. That we don't want to say anything against His will. We must make every effort to manage our tongues! Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. We must speak life to have life in our lives! You see what speaking death has brought. The Lord on yesterday taught us how to laugh and to not speak those thoughts of doubt. God has already gone before us making the crooked ways straight. He has already given us a way of escape out of that thing. We will say what thus says the Lord! He has given us power and authority! The tongue is the smallest member, but controls the whole body. We find in our meditations of His word that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us! Greater is He that is in us than he that is within this world! Fiveamprayer we are going into the devils camp and telling him with our tongues, that no weapon formed against us shall prosper! No matter how it seems or appears we are speaking God's word only! Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. We are to have faith for the things we hope for, we are to walk by faith and this faith comes by hearing the word of God. So if our faith is low, what is that you are listening to? We can not give heed to everything that is uttered! The same way the we can not speak just any old thing, we can not listen to just any old thing! We are building ourselves up in our faith by staying before the word--written and spoken, that we are constant in prayer, and that we renew or minds daily! This is so important the God has been dealing with on communication for two weeks now that is how important this is! Being in this age of instant information we have to have the tools to filter and deflect all of this information of what is allowed to take root in our hearts--Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. We will have to manage our tongues! In our marriages, we must speak life, trusting that the God of reconciliation has it already taken care of! Take your battlefield positions, on your knees! Don't just say anything. We have to get God's word deep down and rooted in our spirit! When we speak His word, the enemy has to flee. You are strengthened by His word, He hastens to His word to perform it. His word does not come back void, but does all that He sent it to do. We can look to Jesus, who sits a the right hand of the Father, mediating for us! We don't have to speak every thought that comes to our mind. We know that the devil comes to attack us in our minds, that we would speak those doubtful thoughts, instead of the word of God. Why would you let the enemy have you tear down your own house with your own words!? God is a keeper, we must meditate on His word, day and night! Manage your tongue--God is gonna open up a window of blessings that there would not be room enough to receive! 1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. He came that we would have life and that more abundantly. Sometimes we will think all kinds of thoughts--don't speak them out loud. Speak God's word only! For those who are looking for healing, your restored health is in speaking God's Word not in doubt, fear or worry. We are to stand on and confess, by His stripes we are healed! When the enemy comes in like a flood, God lifts up a standard against it. For those who have their bills speaking to them, our response is that God is my provider! Not the job or any other thing--God can and will bless us through any why the He sees fit. He is not limited to only bless us through a job, He is the Lord, Jehovah Jireh! Which is to say that we are taken care of with or with out a job, that is not our provider--Genesis 22:8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. God has given us the power to speak His word and the enemy has to flee! We have to know how to manage out tongue. It is God's way, not our way! His thoughts are higher than our thoughts! What did God say? Speak His word only! We have got to get this, the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy. The enemies plan is for us to speak that which puts us out of position with God. We must have our words line up with God's words! Don't allow the devil to come against you in your own words! We must meditate on God's word, day and night. Manage your tongue! You can't just say anything! We lift up fiveamprayer for this weekend meditation that we will manage our tongues. We submit our will to Your will, Lord. We lift up prayer requests those known and unknown. We lift up Yalonda Moore for healing, we are putting our trust in the Great Physician it is His report that we will believe. We know that by Your stripes she is healed--totally and completely restored in her health. Thank You Lord, we give you praise for the healing of her body! Hallelujah God! There is no one like You! Thank You for moving to restore and revive! Lord we come to repent this morning. We must guard what comes out of our mouths, to be still and be quiet--standing in trust and faith. Thank You for forgiving us! Thank You for teaching us how to forgive others that we to are forgiven.
We seal this prayer in His precious blood, by His Spirit: I will manage my tongue!

We have to speak His word only--Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. Come on and manage your tongue! It is done, it is finished--have no fear or doubt. We don't care what we see, we walk by faith--remember that this is a faith walk. Fiveamprayer we are to manage our tongue! Did you ever think that laughter was a weapon? Laugh at the devil, stay in the word of God to renew your mind. We can't just say anything. Somethings, God gives us that are only for us. Obedience is better than sacrifice. God is a good God, o taste and see that the Lord is good! Hallelujah Lord! Take control of your mouth!
