Shifting From Saul To David Requires Obedience!!!

1 Samuel 15

We are walking in today:  Shifting From Saul To David Requires Obedience!!!

Witness expression throughout the Bible:  1 Samuel 2:10, 19:4; Jeremiah 23:26, 23:38; Proverbs 1:5-7; Hebrews 1:3

1 Samuel 15:20-23
20 Sha’ul said to Sh’mu’el, “I did too pay attention to what Adonai said, and I carried out the mission on which Adonai sent me. I brought back Agag the king of ‘Amalek, and I completely destroyed ‘Amalek. 21 But the people took some of the spoil, the best of the sheep and cattle set aside for destruction, to sacrifice to Adonai your God in Gilgal.” 22 Sh’mu’el said,“Does Adonai take as much pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying what Adonai says? Surely obeying is better than sacrifice, and heeding orders than the fat of rams. 23 “For rebellion is like the sin of sorcery, stubbornness like the crime of idolatry. Adonai, he too has rejected you as king.”

Once again we look into the examples of two types of leadership within Saul and David. One based off of fully trusting in and being obedient to the word of Yahweh--which Saul clearly did not possess. The other type of leadership is the leader who trusts in their own fleshly senses. Saul went into himself--I've done what was pleasing to my intellect on what Samuel instructed me to do. The instructions were to utterly destroy the Amalekites, nothing was to be spared regardless of how good it looked, sounded or felt. Furthermore, how quickly upon rebuke did Saul shift his blame on the people. As if he had no responsibility in leadership. What will you do, Fiveamprayer...follow the commands of Yahweh or the people?

1 Samuel 15:12-15
12 Sh’mu’el got up early in the morning to meet Sha’ul; however, Sh’mu’el was told, “Sha’ul came to Karmel to set up a monument for himself there, but now he has left and is on his way down to Gilgal.” 13 Sh’mu’el went to Sha’ul; Sha’ul said to him, “May Adonai bless you! I have done what Adonai ordered.” 14 But Sh’mu’el answered, “If so, why do I hear sheep bleating and cows mooing?” 15 Sha’ul said, “They brought them from the ‘Amaleki because the people spared the best of the sheep and cattle to sacrifice to Adonai your God. But we completely destroyed the rest.”

Saul cared nothing of the commands of Yahweh, only desiring to look good to the people. To rule in his emotions (the flesh) and operate in his gifting. Other than being lead by the spirit of Yahweh, only to please the people.

Saul was the people's choice because of the outer appearance. This same parallel we have in modern times--a system built on rulership hierarchy in the churches today. Bishops over Pastors, Pastors over elders and so forth, a system of leaders whose only care is to have distinction over the body of Yahweh, looking good to the people. Because the people want to hear feel good messages, the sensual doctrines of devils. Pleasing the people with gifts and not the truth of Yahweh. Being strongly deceived, by placing gifts over the spirit of love, Agape which Saul did not possess for the kingdom of Yahweh. Just self-exaltation and his own gifts to rely on.

Matthew 7:21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, only those who do what my Father in heaven wants. 22 On that Day, many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord! Didn’t we prophesy in your name? Didn’t we expel demons in your name? Didn’t we perform many miracles in your name?’ 23 Then I will tell them to their faces, ‘I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness!

David was ordained to take the place of Saul because David was considered by Yahweh to have a heart after Him. To be obedient to the instructions given to him as a priority and a must to obey. David even consulted Yahweh before He did anything that would affect Israel. For He knew Israel was not His, but belonged to Yahweh. David did not operate in his carnal nature but emptied himself, to solely Yahweh's will.  He acted honorably whereas he could have slain Saul plenty of times, but the spirit of Agape operated in David. Instead of trusting in the gifts Yahweh gave David, he emptied himself to exalt the word of Yahweh.

Psalm 119:11
Thy word have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against thee.

1 Samuel 13:14
But as it is, your kingship will not be established. Adonai has sought for himself a man after his own heart, and Adonai has appointed him to be prince over his people, because you did not observe what Adonai ordered you to do.”

David was a process man--he was used to hardship and troubles. Yet through all of Davids wilderness experiences, he trusted in Yahweh causing His spirit man to be characterized after the image and likeness of Yahweh. Yahweh had to process David in order to prepare him to be ordained King of Israel. Thus, Saul could not be a King and failed at being Commander over Israel because he was not processed. Saul was chosen by the people because of His looks or gifts and not his heart. Yet here we have David, who was chosen because of his the heart.
"Samuel, don't think Eliab is the one just because he's tall and handsome. He isn't the one I've chosen. People judge others by what they look like, but I judge people by what is in their hearts."--1 Samuel 16:7 CEV

Yahweh can take the most unassuming and create wonders and meaning in your life. Where as man may reject you. But Yahweh's plans are not our plans nor His way like ours.

Isaiah 55:9
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways,” says Adonai. 9 “As high as the sky is above the earth are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Saul chose to operate based off of his flesh, instead of his spirit. That is what caused him to lose his command that would have been forever.

“’You acted foolishly... . You have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you; if you had, he would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time. But now your kingdom will not endure; the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him the leader of his people...”
