We are walking in today: Ancient Hebrew Thoughts, Moving Ahead
We
have to be aware that reading the Bible from a American 21st century
mindset will not fully reveal all that the Bible has to us. We are
looking at abstract verses concrete. When the concrete is translated
into the abstract causes the meaning to be lost, mislead or totally
inaccurate. These differing cultures, and the thought processes used
are different processes of communication. In the Hebrew culture it is
verb based and concrete, the Greek is noun based and abstract. Also
there is more words when translating from Hebrew to the Greek mindset.
We have a functional description, Hebrew versus the description of
object or person in the Greek. The ancient Hebrew alef bet (alphabet)
which used pictures to write before the block or script letters were
used--gives us more concrete meaning for interpreting the scriptures.
Our culture and lifestyle will influence the words from the Bible,
without direction we will use our 21st century American mindset to find
understanding. Which leads to misleading, overlooked meaning and intent
of the scriptures. The language of the people is closely related to
the culture of those people. In archaeological studies, uncovers the
artifacts of ancient cultures revealing clues about language and daily
life. To hear this word again to study click here.
What does the word of the Lord God mean to you? Take time to write
down and tell Him what it means to you. Thank You Lord God for blessing
us with Your word! Hallelujah!
