Fiveamprayer for this weekend meditation we have to take a look at somethings.  Over the past couple of months we have been hearing that we must know what you are doing and why, a phrase Pastor Lucinda says often.  I would like to change that a bit when looking at this teaching of the scepter remaining with Judah.  Know where you came from and what circumstances surround your history.  As the tracing of the family lines throughout royalty we find the lineage of Yeshua given to us through King David.  Going back further we find that Judah who the text tells us has three boys with his first wife, later has a set of twins with his daughter in law.  Such a strange situation, right?  Is this really in the Bible and related to the linage of Christ?  Now before you dismiss this as reality show occurrence, lets remain in our Hebraic mindset.  When a man and woman married and the husband dies, leaving no son, the brother or close male relative is to take the woman in marriage.  The first born would be in the place of the dead husband and have all his rights allotted to him.  We see this in the book of Ruth when Boaz takes Ruth in marriage in the place of her dead husband, thus redeeming both Ruth and Naomi.  Since Judah's first son died and the second one refused to have a child with her, he also died--she was sent to live with her family.  The time she was waiting for the last son to be old enough to marry, had come and passed.  She found out that Judah was going to have his sheep sheered and she made ready to meet him in disguise.  When Judah comes to town and sees the disguised Tamar, he makes a deal to have sex with her.  Not having payment, he gives his staff, cord and ring as a pledge for the goat that will be brought later.  Then we fast forward to the birth of Judah's sons by Tamar, which happen to be twins while Zarah stuck his hand out first, Perez was born first.  So through these two sons of Judah we have the lineage of kings for the children of Israel.  So the importance of this seemingly uneventful story in a fuller scope of understanding, appears more noteworthy.
Let us look to the prophets, one in particular, Jeremiah. Looking to his charge as a prophet to the nations, he was to teach both the kingdoms of Israel and Judah.  The plea for correction and returning to the righteousness of Yahweh!  But was that all he was charged, assigned to do?  This prophet who was sanctified before he was born Jeremiah 1:5, an appointed prophet to the nations.  We are pretty familiar with that text yet was that his entire charge?  Jeremiah 1:6-10 6 Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” 7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.” 9 Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth. 10 See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms, to pluck up and to break down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.”  So he was given His word to speak to the people and he was to pluck up and break down, destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.  Now we have to look to see where this is fulfilled in his life.  All that Yahweh speaks will happen, in spite of what we feel we can accomplish, but rather as submitted to His instructions completed through us, His vessels for His glory. In his rooting up the throne of Judah he was to also plant the line of Judah for the scepter was not to part from Judah's feet.  This is repeated in the promise of Yahweh to King David also that there will be a line of Judah on the throne forever. With his charge to plant and to build this promise was protected as divinely orchestrated by His hand that there would be a seed of Judah protected and secreted away for the appointed time.  Jeremiah 40:2-4 (ESV)  2 The captain of the guard took Jeremiah and said to him, “The Lord your God pronounced this disaster against this place. 3 The Lord has brought it about, and has done as he said. Because you sinned against the Lord and did not obey his voice, this thing has come upon you. 4 Now, behold, I release you today from the chains on your hands. If it seems good to you to come with me to Babylon, come, and I will look after you well, but if it seems wrong to you to come with me to Babylon, do not come. See, the whole land is before you; go wherever you think it good and right to go.  Jeremiah 41:10-14  10 Then Ishmael took captive all the rest of the people who were in Mizpah, the king's daughters and all the people who were left at Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, had committed to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam. Ishmael the son of Nethaniah took them captive and set out to cross over to the Ammonites. 11 But when Johanan the son of Kareah and all the leaders of the forces with him heard of all the evil that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had done, 12 they took all their men and went to fight against Ishmael the son of Nethaniah. They came upon him at the great pool that is in Gibeon. 13 And when all the people who were with Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah and all the leaders of the forces with him, they rejoiced. 14 So all the people whom Ishmael had carried away captive from Mizpah turned around and came back, and went to Johanan the son of Kareah.
So we can see when Jeremiah and his scribe were told that they would be protected for the divine assignment, is shall be completed that those who would try to advance their plans over Yahweh's plan would not be successful!!  In this captured and later freed group is Jeremiah and the daughters of the king of Judah.  Fiveamprayer, do you see the small number hidden for His plan and purpose?  That His will, will be done!  Nothing can stand in the way of His promise!  All of His word will be fulfilled!!  The kingship was with Judah and remains with that tribe.  They are traced through the lineage of Tamar who had twin boys and speaks of the division of the children of Israel and later restoration into one tribe as was set forth at the beginning.  Thank You Yahweh for taking us back to show us the way that was already intended for us to go from the beginning!  Blessings to Your name for ever and ever!  To hear this teaching again click here.
