We are walking in today: How To Glorify God.

Philippians 1:9-11 9) And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; 10) That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ. 11) Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. This week has been a time of us giving back to God. We worshiped, praised, and magnified Him for who He is. Now let's give Him glory. How to glorify God? It will show through the life we live. We want to look this morning at the ingredients of glorifying God. Paul is praying in verse 3-11 of Philippians 1, 3) I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, 4) Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, 5) For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; 6) Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: 7) Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace. 8) For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ. This section of verse is a prayer of thanksgiving. Paul is thanking the Lord for the Philippians and the joy that they have brought him. Now, in verse 9-11, we have a prayer of petition. Paul is praying for the continual spiritual progress of the Philippians. In verse 6, Paul expresses his confidence in their continued discipleship or fruitfulness and now he prays for that continuance. Paul's constant concern was for the maturing of the people to whom he ministered. Let's look at Paul's prayer for these Philippians. Paul had a passion for the spiritual development of His people. That was his great concern. We see this passion revealed in his prayer life. As Paul prays for the believers, he prays for their maturity. This is the very focus of his prayer life. Ephesians 1:15-19 15) Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, 16) Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; 17) That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18) The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19) And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power. Paul is saying, I want you to grow. He is praying for their spiritual development. Ephesians 3:14-19 14) For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15) Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16) That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17) That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18) May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19) And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Behind each of our requests is a desire!! We often pray only for physical needs....why? We believe that health and material things will bring us happiness. This is not true. Our happiness comes from our relationship with God. Paul glorified in his physical problems. Do you, fiveamprayer? 2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Why did Paul glory in his physical problems? Because God was glorified in them. So, Paul cut through the superficial stuff and prayed for their real need--- growth which will bring blessings. James 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. Blessings, spiritual and material, are connected to spiritual progress. As we grow in our relationship with God, we will be blessed. Prayer is our duty. Do you realize that? Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint. Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Romans 12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer. This is why we were created, to glorify God. God's glory by His own decree and choice is wrapped up in the behavior of His people. Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. The glory of God is wrapped up in your life, this causes me to pray for you and it should cause you to pray for me. The ultimate goal of Paul's prayer is not only the transformation of the Philippians, but through this to bring glory and praise to God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. Amen!!!!
You gotta know how to glorify God. By your lifestyle, others should know who you serve. Give Him the glory! As they say at For His Glory Christian Fellowship, "in everything that you do, in word, thought and deed, it is for His glory!" No matter what, give Him the glory! He is working it out--Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. We get wrapped up in our problems, we must be wrapped up in Him--His presence and His word. Nehemiah 9:31 Nevertheless for thy great mercies' sake thou didst not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for thou art a gracious and merciful God. Prayer is our duty. Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. Give God the glory! Fiveamprayer has been seeking Him in prayer and sacrificing to seek Him early for 2 1/2 years, we give You, the glory God. This line has been called and anointed by You, Lord. Thank You God. Taking a look at your life, your children--give God the glory! He told us that 2011 is a year of abundance, no matter what the world is going through. This is our year of abundance, fiveamprayer, an increase of knowledge, wisdom, understanding and relationship. God shows up every morning with a rhema word, that speaks to us right were we are. This abundant life is not about finances--Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. We get up early seeking a word from You, Lord. Fiveamprayer are we seeking His righteousness also? Give Him the glory in your marriage, on your job and over your finances. In all that you do, give Him the glory! We walk by faith, not by sight. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Ask the Lord to send the latter rain, He has enlarged our coast. Give Him all the glory, honor and praise! All that we have, all that we are is because of Him. We have joy unspeakable, we know that late in the midnight hour it will be turned around by His mighty hand. Weeping may endure for the night but, joy comes in the morning. John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. This week we come to worship, praise and magnify, You, Lord. Now this morning we come to give You glory! Stop walking around in depression, in worry about what you don't have. 1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Fiveamprayer, the Lord is doing a new thing, shall we not know it? He even makes a way for us in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Sound like He speaks to us right where we are. Guiding us through the tough times, we can follow Him with all trust and confidence. Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? It is already done, and finished. This is praise week: we know that there is no weapon that is formed against us shall prosper; greater is He that is in us than he that is in this world; we are more than conquerors, more than overcomers! Give Him glory, He has made the darkness into His marvelous light. We are blessed, no matter the situation, He is a keeper! To God be the glory, for the things that He has done! Take a look back over your life, you know that it was nobody but the Lord bringing you out. We are anxious for nothing, we serve Elohim. Luke 12:6-7 6) Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? 7) But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. Fiveamprayer, we are not forgotten before God. He is ever mindful of us. We must be mindful of Him. Give Him the glory--it is all by His hands that we are here today. Waking up to brand new mercies, walking in His grace. No one can take credit nor duplicate what the Lord has already done and has told us He will do. Praise, worship, magnify and glorify Him, Adonai Jehovah! Move out of the way, give Him glory! Shout glory to His name right now! He loved us, before we even loved ourselves. Jesus has called us friend. John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Matthew 26:50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus and took him. Jesus is our example of how to respond and to give glory to God in our lives--even in betrayal, His response begins with friend. As Pastor Taffe taught, that we must remain in a position of love in our responses to everyone. Thank You Lord for remaining in a love position! That is another way we can glorify God. How we live this life, walking this Christan walk--John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. Fiveamprayer, are we lifting up Christ in our lives?! To God be the glory! Don't be so wrapped up in in the things of this world--recession, difficulties in marriages, concern over finances. Give Him the glory! He is drawing us closer to Him--with a daily word, feeding us with manna from heaven, giving us living water. Thank You Lord! This season of abundance is not about our finances, it is about our increased relationship with the Lord. To God be the glory! Hallelujah! We ought to always pray and not faint, that is our duty. He has already paid the price for our restored relationship! We must be seeking after Him, after all He came down from heaven, wrapped in flesh to pursue us! The more that we pray, the closer we are to Him, coming into the manifestation of His word. At the times when you don't know what to pray, call on the name of Jesus. We lift up fiveamprayer, have them to give You the glory. We come not asking for anything. We lift up prayer requests, those known and unknown. We lift up Yalonda Moore, giving You the glory and praise in advance for her healing. Your precious blood paid the price for our healing. Thank You Lord! Glory to Your name. We don't ever want to take Your glory, we know that all sufficiency lies in You. We ask You for forgiveness, in taking credit for what Your hands had done. Thank You for forgiving us, with no condemnation. Please continue to teach us how to forgive like You Lord. Give God the glory! Men should see the light of the Lord shining on the inside of us. Give Him glory in everything that you do, fiveamprayer!! Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. It is all for His glory!! Hallelujah!

We write in the precious blood: 1 Chronicles 4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

Welcome to the overflow...
I know that Jabez gave God all of the glory. The Lord granted his request, enlarged his coast and kept him from evil--he was blessed indeed! Give Him the glory! Hallelujah! Thank You Lord, oh that Thou would bless us indeed! Give God the glory all day today. Give Him the glory--He keeps on blessing and keeping us. Paul was in prayer for the Philippians to grow in spiritual maturity--to increase in the Lord. You know it hasn't been anybody else but the Lord who is on our side! Bringing us out by His mighty hand. Run around the house, giving God the glory. Read the scriptures for yourself. Give Him the glory, we owe Him the praise. Have a blessed day.

  1. The challenge of living in this world although we are not of this world, is a challenge we face everyday. The situation that Paul had of his issue, was addressed by an all knowing God that His grace is sufficient. We struggle from day to day with how do we ignore what is going on in our bodies, in our lives and continue to remember and know that God is God. I remind myself constantly that His ways are not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts. Oh Lord it is no where near easy.

It reminds me of the desire Peter had to come to Jesus, and Jesus says he can and tells him to come, but the seas are raging so around him, Peter easily looses focus. Everyday I try to stay focused on Jesus while making the right decisions as I am here on earth with major responsibilities. My thoughts for the day.

    Love you FIVEAMPRAYER
