We are walking in today: The Harsh Tongue--Bashing With Our Words
Witness harsh throughout the Bible: Genesis 16:6, 42:7, 42:29-31; Exodus 18:10; Leviticus 25:43, 25:46, 25:53; Deuteronomy 26:6; Judges 6:2; 1 Samuel 20:10; 1 Kings 12:4; 12:13; Isaiah 19:4; Proverbs 15:1; Daniel 2:15; Ezra 2:59; 2 Chronicles 10:4; Colossians 3:19; 1 Peter 2:18; Jude 1:15-16
Can the words that we use be considered a harsh or crushing blow? In our current society it is not considered a problem to bash or crush others with our words. Be it family members, co-workers or others in the community, it can be found in operation very easily. While these words continue to bruise and burn those who are subjected to this verbal barrage of abuse. Fiveamprayer we have to understand that we are not to allow our tongues to whip and beat upon people. As the old saying goes, if you can not say anything nice, say nothing at all. We should seek to add a positive, loving, kind words to the situation or that they would hear love--instead of seeking how to tear down and obliterate with our words. We should all desire to speak to others that they are in a better position after you speak to them. Have a heart of charity to speak kindly and gentle correction in love. We have in scriptures that we are known by the love that we show one another--John 13:35 (KJV) By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. This display of love we are to show and be known by is especially seen in our words and our tone, in how we speak to everyone. Whether correcting or warning we can have our tongue be gentle and not cause harm but speak that which is true, in love. The time that we take to choose the correct words and the pause we use to collect our thoughts and being lead of the Holy Spirit, will accomplish more of showing this love while speaking honestly. The idea of the words only being nice and not truthful can also be hurtful to either the listener or the speaker.
