Numbers 12

We are walking in today:  Defining The Position Of The Prophet

Teaching from the book:

Preaching and Teaching from the Old Testament

Numbers 12:6-8

He said, “Listen to what I say: when there is a prophet among you, I, Adonai, make myself known to him in a vision, I speak with him in a dream. But it isn’t that way with my servant Moshe. He is the only one who is faithful in my entire household. With him I speak face to face and clearly, not in riddles; he sees the image of Adonai. So why weren’t you afraid to criticize my servant Moshe?”

Prophet: H5030 Nabi = a spokesperson,

speaker or prophet.

Prophets generally are spokesman for the proclamation of Yahweh. A speaker of truth and nothing but the truth. Whether it be a proclamation of judgment or warning. In the ways of clean and unclean, holy or unholy or the observance of
 His
Feast Days. A true prophet will speak nothing but the truth.

Ezekiel 44:23

They are to teach my people the difference between holy and common and enable them to distinguish between clean and unclean
.

Amazingly the books of the prophets has a comprehensible approach to it's a narratives. As of course all books do
--m
ainly consisting of four major prophets and 12 minor prophets. Built on the examples of the major prophets Samuel, Nathan, Elijah and Elisha. There are particular styles and use of rhetorical devices. Generally sets the beginning of segments in the narratives. Usually changing content or scenery with introductions
there
of.

1. Pronouncement or proclamation, accusation or announcement.
2. An explanation of the words spoken

Understanding the particular steps of approach and breaking down the interpretations of prophetic passages. Can't be observed without proper steps.

Step 1. Determined the theme our purpose of each book
Step 2. Mark out sections that change in the book. Using rhetorical devices
Step 3. Look for specific genre, literary form of writing, profits style
Step 4. Investigate the historical and social setting of the book.

In closing we look at the book
s
of prophets no more with foreign goggles
!
 But
 this is
 a book of more relevant
and
prevalent

parallel
s
 to
us tod
ay.
It is only with our
careful interpretations of passages
we find the text still
applicable for our day. Our Yahweh is omnipotent all powerful and omnipresent ever present, timeless,
 A
ncient of days. He is one with
H
is word and
H
is word is one with
H
im
!
 Able to do exactly what
H
e intended for it to do. More exceedingly more abundantly above all that we may ask or think. Yet we still have to be taught how to rightly understand the Kings language
,
the Torah. To speak as prophet
--
what the prophets spoke
,
 the language
 heard
 from the King.

We have to obtain His understanding of the definition of the prophet.  We have received the unbiblical and erroneous understanding of the prophets being those who tell the future.  But what is the warning and definition?  Yahweh's warning to Israel is found in Deuteronomy 13 and Ezekiel 13, which would help in defining the proper and true prophet.  This is not about telling the future, rather speaking the correction or instruction from Yahweh--which we have in the life of Samuel that none of his words fell to the ground--why?  Because He spoke that Yahweh the Almighty one said will certainly come to pass.  The primary focus is on the 'prophecy' aligned with the holy text for all He speaks is in agreement with what He has already spoken!  To hear this teaching again click here.
