We must study Hebraiclly due to the seventy layers that can be found in the text, the book of Lamentations is a form of Hebrew poetry. Constructed of a narrative split in layers that can be found in the text in two lined passages called, parallelism or formal parallelism.
Parallelism: The balance of ideals in Hebraic poetry. Spotted by the breaks in the lines, that happens when the poetic lines of the passages are side by side to complete a sentence. Dark and
heavyhearted narratives but comparable to the writers life at hand.
Lamentations 3:19-22 Remember my utter misery,the wormwood and the gall. They are always on my mind;this is why I am so depressed. But in my mind I keep returning to something,something that gives me hope — that the grace of Adonai is not exhausted,that his compassion has not ended.
We can identify the writing style of the prophet Jeremiah in this particular book. We
must also consider the setting and scenery of Jeremiah's life, being ridiculed, scorned, and other feelings of abandonment. You can imagine all the emotions being felt in this type of situation. When your going through everything as much you are past taking any more. Wondering where are you, Yahweh? Lamentations brings out the dark and dual nature of growth and understanding the sovereignty of Yahweh.
Lamentations is a form of rhetorical device used by the prophet Jeremiah. As a way to convey his experiences and mind state. We've all experience the doubt of Yahweh's presence in our circumstances. These dark periods, behind closed doors when no one else is there--no way to save to face, and no one to impress. This is the real you that Yahweh knows, comes out. It is these words and actions that the religious elite would surely consider you unsaved and unsanctified.The fact that lamentations expresses the human frailty, the trust in a relationship and not just head knowledge. But reliance in our Sovereign, Yahweh and His infinite wisdom--in His season, at that day, and at that time. He will reveal His victorious plans. Until then, Fiveamprayer count it not strange when diverse trails and temptations come. We will continue to study to show are selves approved
So that we can rightly understanding the word of Yahweh! Where the depth meanings of the passages are revealed, like the layers of a onion.
