The Old Testament, Torah--Are You The Seed of Abraham?

Genesis 12

We are walking in today:  The Old Testament, Torah--Are You The Seed of Abraham?

Teaching from the book:  Teaching and Preaching from the Old Testament: A guide to the church,
by Walter C Kaiser Jr.

Witness intentions throughout the Bible: defined from  Webster's Revise Unabridged Dictionary 1) Closely directed; strictly attentive; bent--said of the mind, thoughts , etc.; as, a mind intent on self improvement. 2) Having the mind closely directed to or bent on an object; eager in pursuit of object. 3) The act of turning the mind toward an object; hence, a design; a purpose; and intention meaning; drift and/or aim.
Exodus 32:12; Jeremiah 44:25; Proverbs 20:5; Ecclesiastes 8:11; Galatians 5:17; Hebrews 6:17

Genesis 12:1-3 Now Adonai said to Avram, “Get yourself out of your country, away from your kinsmen and away from your father’s house, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make of you a great nation, I will bless you, and I will make your name great; and you are to be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, but I will curse anyone who curses you; and by you all the families of the earth will be blessed.

Torah H8451 directions, instructions and laws...
Abraham crossed over! Hebrew means crossover!  Our focus today is the Torah!!!! The legal instructions of life versus the life of grace--misunderstood by mass majority of people. Throughout the centuries of the Old Testament followers versus the New Testament followers. One follows specific decrees handed down by Yahweh to
His kingdom citizens. The other follows the traditions made by man in place of the King of all things, who wrote unchanging commandments.....Who is your King?

Intended to be our guide in direction, this is our walk with Yahweh.  The Torah gives instructions in every facet of life such as political, social and economic instructions on how to live.  Leading us to a life more abundant has always be promised for obedience. Why wouldn't you have to be obedient, if Yahweh commanded a promise to it??? Just doesn't add up.

So if you listen carefully to my mitzvot which I am giving you today, to love Adonai your God and serve him with all your heart and all your being;
 Deuteronomy 11:13

If you love me, you will keep my commands; John 14:15

If you live by my regulations, observe my mitzvot and obey them; Leviticus 26:3

The instructions of salvation and obedience echo from the Tanakh are still ringing in the ears of the New testament believers that Yeshua and the disciples taught.  All of which are found in the very scriptures Yahweh and his Talmidin (disciples) knew and followed from the Tanakh (the entire Old Testament)

The New Testament (Brit Hadashah) or of the renewed covenant, testifies of a faithful and specific Yahweh whose characteristics never changes!

Your word continues forever, Adonai, firmly fixed in heaven;
 Psalm 119:89

The grass dries up, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand forever. Isaiah 40:8

This is unlike the inconsistency of man, the volume of the books testify each and every time.  Following the way of the Torah from Israel from the beginning, being called, later led into captivity, destruction and spiritual blindness. This was shown throughout the text in the lives of the children of Israel as well as the victories and prosperity for following the commandments of Yahweh.  Story after story of witnesses pointing to the observance or disobedience of the Torah and its principles.

The Torah in its entirety consists of the first five books of the Bible Genesis-creation, Exodus-salvation, Leviticus-instructions, Numbers-government of Yahweh and Deuteronomy-His promises. Each book containing its individual progression of the journey of the children of Israel, shows Yahweh's patience and care of showing the children of Israel who He is and how His kingdom is to operate.

May your Kingdom come,your will be done on earth as in heaven. Matthew 6:10

As a mirror image of heaven, so are Yahweh's intentions for His children.  All He has spoken is forever! The Torah is to give us direction on the way to go.  This is a word rooted in action, motion and doing not merely the concept of good things, but how to live daily life in every facet, relationship with Him!   For the covenants of Yahweh are progressive and builds on the previous instructions!  The covenant made to Adam all the way down to the descendants of Abraham.  All of whom followed the instructions of the original format, the Torah, the words of the King!  To hear this again click here.
