If The Preacher Is Not Growing, Neither Is The Congregation!

1 Corinthians 3

We are walking in today:  If The Preacher Is Not Growing, Neither Is The Congregation!

Teaching from the book:  Preaching and Teaching from the Old Testament: A guide to the church,
by Walter C Kaiser Jr.

Witness foundations throughout the Bible:  H4144 mowcad (mo-sad) meaning that which is built, established, appointed or ordained.
Psalms 11:3; Acts 16:26

Fiveamprayer, we have to study and find ourselves in His understanding of His word!  Water can rise only as high as its source--this allows us to determine why there are differing levels of growth from the leadership down to the people to be drawn into a closer and truth based relationship with Yahweh!

1 Corinthians 3:10-11
Using the grace God gave me, I laid a foundation, like a skilled master-builder; and another man is building on it. But let each one be careful how he builds. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Yeshua the Messiah. -CJB

Theological analysis, continuing a part of verbal analysis--the study of words hard to comprehend and pronounce should become a catalyst to studying thoroughly the word of Yahweh. For one who assumes the role of a teacher or preacher, one must grow in forms of study and a much broader scope of understanding. Else the task of sharpening the student and listeners, becomes as dull and non enthusiastic as the teachers motivation to studying.

1 Timothy 2:15
Do all you can to present yourself to God as someone worthy of his approval, as a worker with no need to be ashamed, because he deals straightforwardly with the Word of the Truth. -CJB

Hebrew 5:12

For although by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the very first principles of God’s Word all over again! You need milk, not solid food! -CJB

As various theological words appear in sections of texts. 4 highlights help spot theological analysis.

1. Key theological terms with technical statuses:
That appear frequently in pivotal passages. They can be cross referenced with other valid commentated sources. i.e. commentaries, Greek, Hebrew, English and other dictionaries ect.

2. The analogy of ascending scriptures:
Similar terms used in former passages. That place key emphasis on the narrative read. Referring to similar forms of text alluding to person or places connecting Israel with Yahweh's character.

3. Analogy of faith:
Doctrines or passages in the text that allude to faith coming into play. Using a topical approach to a subject carefully logging all such faith passages to be placed in the message closing. Thus carefully concluding with collective faith-based passages. That allows the hearer or student to focus on the summary statement. Without the dangers of studying other commentators passages branching off from the topic at hand.

Other Syntactical Exegesis...

Commentaries and cross references:
Ideas similar and contradicting from other sources of studies. Concluding with a summary based off the commentaries supplied.

Homiletical Analysis:
Focus of the main points or passages. Using the common union with the Ruach HaKodesh. The gifts and talents Yahweh gave you. To effectively point out or teach and preach a particular topic.

The Subject or Title of the message or lesson: Identifying the pivotal or focal points in the passages. That bring the collective commentary to a conclusion of phrases, clauses, sentences and verses. For a subject or title on the lesson our teaching.

1 Corinthians 3:10,11

Subject: Growth On A Firm Foundation..

1. Passage: Growth in maturity
Verbal analysis.. Milk versus Meat
surface reading versus in depth study of scripture
Closing passage: Trust Yahweh for growth.

2nd Passage: Building off of Yahweh's foundation versus our own efforts.
Closing: works will be tried by fire and trials to see if they will stand by Yahweh. Or fall by own efforts.

3rd Passage and conclusion:  The Canonical context of the whole Scripture. Connects the body of passages by a single thought. The indwelling of Yahweh's spirit that brings humility and wisdom. Knowing we can do nothing without Yahweh. Trusting in Him to learn and teach the word of Elohim.
Closing:  Careful study involves hours of building. First the prayer of guidance in the scriptures. Prayer for understanding and guidance, and the relaying of its message. Comes only from the source, Yahweh. Using various valid resources, carefully studied in comparison of scriptural truths.
