The Second Commandment-Exodus 20:4-5 You shall have no other gods before Me.  You shall not make yourself a carved image nor any likeness of that which is in the heavens above or on the earth below or in the water beneath the earth.  You shall not prostrate yourself to nor worship them, for I am the LORD your God--a jealous God.

172. You shall not harken to one who entices you secretly --Deuteronomy 13:9

173. You shall not take pity on one who entices you secretly --Deuteronomy 13:9

174. You shall not be compassionate to one who entices you secretly --Deuteronomy 13:9

Joel 2:12-14 CJB “Yet even now,” says Adonai,“turn to me with all your heart, with fasting, weeping and lamenting.” Tear your heart, not your garments; and turn to Adonai your God.For he is merciful and compassionate, slow to anger, rich in grace, and willing to change his mind about disaster. Who knows? He may turn, change his mindand leave a blessing behind him, [enough for] grain offerings and drink offeringsto present to Adonai your God.

a·poc·a·lyp·tic (əˌpäkəˈliptik)  adjective-describing or prophesying the complete destruction of the world: "the apocalyptic visions of ecologists." Resembling the end of the world; momentous or catastrophic:  "the struggle between the two countries is assuming apocalyptic proportions"
synonyms: doomsday, doom-laden, ominous, portentous; More of or resembling the biblical Apocalypse:  "apocalyptic imagery"

Events leading up to pending judgments or rather Hebraically deliverance, or the return of Yeshua written in the passages--in these narratives you will soon see are pseudonymous in meaning.  As in prophecy or pending deliverance--such as the books of Daniel 7-12; Isaiah 58-66; Zachariah 12-14; The pending deliverance had yet to come to pass, but the pending proclamations by the prophets served as a warning to repent or to prepare.

The dual meaning of prophecy shows up in two ways--the now or not yet proclamations can be found throughout in the scriptures.

Example:

1 John 3:2 Dear friends, we are God’s children now; and it has not yet been made clear what we will become. We do know that when he appears, we will be like him; because we will see him as he really is. - cjb.

John speaks of present knowledge versus future realization of of what Yahweh wants them to be.

So the approach and reading the apocalyptic narrative should be based off present warnings of pending salvation or deliverance--yet still to the glory of Yahweh. Leaving much room for a change in deliverance or blessings to be His final word. This should cause curiosity for careful study in comparison of passages. To see the final outcome of Yahweh's deliverance or blessings. His glorious triumph to be seen and yet seen more fully.

Which leaves room for teshuvah is the return to the path prescribed by Yahweh which is true repentance. Causing a choice to change from a current path of destruction and pending retribution. This heeding of the warning and turning completely back to the prescribed path--thus changing the course of deliverance.

The illustration in the book of Joel 2, shows a fourfold wave of locust visitation upon the rebellious Israel nation. That pretty much caused plague and famine, by Yahweh's allowance of locusts as a form of warning for Israel slowness to return back to Him. Yet after two warnings Israel got their act together--they returned back to Yahweh. Thus causing pending apocalyptic disaster to be reversed--this is going from disaster to a favorable outcome.

Joel 2:18-19 Then Adonai will become jealous for his land and have pity on his people. Here is how Adonai will answer his people:“I will send you grain, wine and olive oil, enough to satisfy you; and no longer will I make you a mockery among the Goyim. -CJB

This is so amazing because prior to the proclamation of Joel, the passages tells of the anger of Yahweh towards His children and the coming yet present appearance of Yahweh's army, the locust.  Look at how anything Yahweh created, He uses to cause Teshuvah.

As Israel repented, you see in verses 18 and 19; the love and mercy Yahweh has towards His children in their repentance. That in turn caused a ripple effect of blessings due to obedience.

1. Adonai becomes jealous for His land and pity on His judgment to His children.

2. Grain, wine and oil for what was lost.

3. Status change from a scorned people by the surrounding nations.

4. Restoration completely of what was eaten, stolen and lost.

This shows the limitless love of Yahweh, as a loving creator. If only we would see the errors of our ways. As in the illustration given in the book of Joel--this is the perfect recovery for the rebellion. Who does that???? This should cause tears to your soul, especially if you claim to be His child and your life is a mess.  Problems and situations are allowed to cause you to return. Sin is in the camp!! Repent return to the Yahweh of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!

In conclusion apocalyptic passages should be looked at as warnings and not final. But a call for opportunities to change the course of pending deliverance--for missing the mark; the goal or the prescribed path set all throughout the scripture. Yahweh's patterns of success or if not followed, result in failures.  For without the Torah to serve as a guide for success and revelations. prophecy and proclamations continue to get misconstrued..

Deuteronomy 30:15-20 CJB 15 “Look! I am presenting you today with, on the one hand, life and good; and on the other, death and evil — in that I am ordering you today to love Adonai your God, to follow his ways, and to obey his mitzvot, regulations and rulings ; for if you do, you will live and increase your numbers; and Adonai your God will bless you in the land you are entering in order to take possession of it. But if your heart turns away, if you refuse to listen, if you are drawn away to prostrate yourselves before other gods and serve them; 18 I am announcing to you today that you will certainly perish; you will not live long in the land you are crossing the Yarden to enter and possess. “I call on heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have presented you with life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore, choose life, so that you will live, you and your descendants, loving Adonai your God, paying attention to what he says and clinging to him — for that is the purpose of your life! On this depends the length of time you will live in the land Adonai swore he would give to your ancestors Avraham, Yitz’chak and Ya‘akov.  To hear this teaching again click here.
